i ordered ramen here. it was pretty average, so i thought paying $15 was way overpriced. the order came out pretty fast, but my ramen and pork belly was over cooked. we also ordered soft shell crab for approx $14, it was good, but pricey for 1.5 crabs; what did they do with the other half?

must go. hands down my favourite sushi place.
the ramen is especially good no matter what you pick. try something different each time.
the pork is fat, juicy, and tender. the soup is delicious and the noodles have perfect texture in the mouth.
you always feel so happy and great after eating there.

the dragon i are delicious and try any of the other sushi too it's well made and fresh.
please at least try it once and do not listen to anyone else!

bad waiter and waitress. yesterday friends and i went to this restaurant, we lined up for a while. when it was our turn, there was a two-seat table, the waiter said it was for 2 people, we were 3, so he asked another 2 people behind us to take seat. we were hungry, so i said we could sit at that table just needing one more chair at side. the waiter even did not answer me and just let that two guys go in. we had to wait.

then another 4-seat table was available. that waiter said we could sit there. but after another waiter cleaned the table and let us take seat. another waitress told him that this table was for other customers behind us, they just stepped in. the waitress said this table was reserved but there was no reservation plate at all. she said that waiter did not know the table was reserved.

actually the customer behind us was a gentleman, he came to talk to us and let us sit first. but we were upset by their service and left. what a surprise mother's day gift!

since when does nomiya have two locations? i’ve only ever passed/been in the one on calgary trail but their second spot is somewhere in ellerslie. who woulda thunk? if anyone reads this blog, then you know i love ramen. i should also probably divulge that i’m not the biggest nomiya fan – that’s what bad experiences will do to you, leaves a sour taste in your mouth. the ramen i had was weak, flavourless and just was not good. well, we were stuck south side and given that it was a monday, options were limited. i was in the mood for something soupy so we decided to give nomiya another shot. hey, at least i give places second chances right?

i love ramen and have eaten different kinds of ramen all over japan. the crap that they serve here is blasphemy. it is nothing like real ramen! noodles are not ramen noodles, tonkatsu broth smells and tastes like some some guy's armpit. please do not go here if you have eaten ramen in vancouver, you will be sorely disappointed. i will never come back here and will never recommend it to anyone.

nomiya. i love ramen and have only ever had the ramen so that is all i'm commenting on. the noodles and broth are quite good. atmosphere is clean and the service is pretty good.

the only complaint i have is that they've raised prices enough that i am reluctant to go anymore. they started at about $8/bowl of ramen last year but now it's $10 and i always get extra noodles which used to be $1 but now it's like $3 or $4. i don't think they are worth $14/bowl.

i now go to meguro ramen in chinatown - they are at around $8 a bowl and $1 for extra noodles!

quite good sushi spot but fairly overpriced. the grub as all pretty quality.  the ramen was kind of a disappointment to me and my dining companion, which was a let down because they seem to put a bit of an emphasis on it. i guess they can see that the ramen scene in edmonton is on the up and up and thought they would try and jump in on this high profit-margin trend, but they just don't have the chops for it compared to their sushi.
their rolls are well prepared, ingredients are good, and their specialty rolls are interesting and have a good deal of flair. their dragon rolls for example are torched at the table, giving a little warmth to the surface of the roll, bringing out the flavor of the creamy topping and adding to the complexity of the fish laid on the top-side exterior of the roll. very nice.
the big drawback is the price. i don't think it was reasonable. it is one of the more pricey sushi places in edmonton but lacks the veneer or the quality of a high end experience. if we had ordered a drink each our bill would have broken the $100 mark. that's not mid-range pricing.  i don't really know what the deal is with zomato's pricing indicators, but i find they are more on the basis of per dish prices rather than what is reasonably filling, and if you want to fill up here it is a stiffer bill. be warned.

for friday night take out - this was delicious!  picked up from the ellerslie location.  the soft shell crab tempura was what caught my eye.  how hard is it to get soft shell crab in alberta  pretty hard.  it was good.

very delish!. finally got to try nomiya last week. was rather busy around 730, which was a good sign. place is small but nice... the ac was on max!! we were seated immediately which is always good, but it seemed our waiter was the only one working. he was going as fast as possible but the guy can only do so much on his own. he brought us water quickly, but it took a bit for the tea (they ran out of tea pots apparently). however, the food was fantastic! the noodles were very good as was the broth. the sushi was very fresh and nicely presented. but the tapas were the highlight! the gyoza was very good but the chicken hearts and gizzards were outstanding!!! all in all, it was a good experience and i will be back again. hopefully they can have more than 1 waiter working on a sunday night

we both really enjoyed this place! holiday thanksgiving monday it was packed so we thought that was a good sign ! we ordered gyoza to start, cooked nicely, and flavourful. we each tried a different ramen : tan tan (full of peanuts and spice. it had ground pork, i requested to switch it to a regular piece of pork or pork belly but he suggested keeping it as is due to it engaging the flavour: it actually tasted really good) and spicy miso with an added egg. both were delicious. i would definitely return !

service needs some serious work. went there twice and both time it was bad. i don't know our server's name, but he was the bald guy. we were one of the three tables there, so he wasn't that busy. he never checked on us once and seemed annoyed when we ask questions about the menu. he didn't even want to give us take out container for our sushi. whenever he brought the food out, he just threw it on the table and walk away without saying anything. the other time we went we had this young girl for our server. she also never checked on us. maybe their policy is to not check on costumers. she didn't give us all the sides that we ordered and we waited a good 45 mins with dirty plates on the table for her to come ask us if we needed the bill and another 15 mins for her to come back with the bill. their miso soup is super salty. their dragon roll and california roll was good through. katsu curry tasted kind of powdery. and we ordered the takoyaki for take out. they gave us 4 for $7!! what a rip off. i remember ordering it last time and they gave 5. we weren't a fan of the ramen either. overall, i wouldn't recommended.

good drink specials daily. really great variety of ramen and sushi. nice to see quality and variety inba menu. a variety of japanese imported beer is nice... there's a really good espresso stout that you must try.

wish the spicy rolls were spicier, but sashimi is very fresh and good qualify. get a marinated egg in your ramen you will be happy happy!

staff are all very nice although last time in, we waited a very long time for our bill. my only wish is if they stayed open all day as opposed to closing mid afternoon!
