we hand a booked group of 6 but upon arrival we were told that unfortunately there had been a mix up with our table and we need to find space where available. the ribs and wings combo was tasty but had to wait almost an hour for our order and being the bottomless special, had to wait another hour for our second “round” of food to arrive.

we enjoyed the food but for the price - i would rather pay the same amount and receive one plate of food and not wait an hour. our waitress was so busy we also waited 40 minutes for our drinks. i would come when they aren’t busy.

was at nomad yesterday evening for a late dinner with a group of friends, it seemed that only 1 waitress was on duty for the tables outside, our drinks were fast but unfortunately the waitress took a while to come back for our food order(half hour later) we waited around another half hour for our food, it was tasty but for the time it wasn't really worth the wait. thanks nomad for the good vibe.

with a restaurant that bears my name, how could i resist the allure of eating there? therefore, you can imagine how thrilled and excited i was to be invited by the co-owners, mohit sureka and chef mardia swartz for an exclusive tasting before they opened officially. (i felt honoured!). wherever there's food, i'm there. and it didn't disappoint, in fact there was so many delicious dishes that i couldn't pick my absolute favourite. but i still narrowed it down to my three favourites (the oeufs en cocotte/ baked eggs, zucchini noodles veg dish and the pork belly) which i strongly recommend.

really need to up their game. visited for coffee. walking in i was hit with a tomato cratey smell- not pleasant. no food on display, makes it seem like they were not open for business. no snap scan. coffee is weak and milky-reminds me of frisco. awkward experience with staff asking for a tip on take away coffee. interior looks interesting. conclusion: go somewhere else for take away coffee. perhaps its more of a sit down place, which would be weird for its location, interior, target market etc.

badly planned event resulted in horrid service and extremely disappointing food. not even hunger saved the liver and teriyaki steak tapas. i had to grab something at village idiot just to erase the experience

rather go for the atmosphere and drinks, rather than the bottomless ribs specials!

bottomless everything at nomad!! from bottomless ribs on fridays to bottomless bubbly and beers.

unfortunately the r99 bottomless ribs lacked flavour and were below average!! on the positive side they do offer bottomless chips unlike some bottomless offers.

tapas were quite overpriced, especially considering the size and taste of the food.

in terms of flavour, the only item on the menu that was up to par were the cocktails, however unlike the bottomless specials, the cocktails range from r55 to around r80 for a cocktail.

the atmosphere at nomad bistro is a big plus point!! although the music on our night was quite repetitive, they do have themed nights and live music of some nights as well as quiz nights.

we were excited to experience the bottomless ribs and wings and our son was definitely ready for the challenge. we received three very glutenous ribs each and three wings and chips that were cold. we ordered a second plate after ten mins and waited almost an hour to then be informed that the ribs and wings had run out!!! there goes my sons chance of beating the record 😀. we were offered either butter chicken (tough as anything) or chicken kebabs (also tough and cold).
having had one of the worst meals ever we were then presented a bill for six bottomless meals not three. ho hum.
oh and don’t forget the rat running around to which the owner said - they just come off the street. nothing we can do!
an experience never to be repeated.

we went for a walk around town and was super hungry afterwards and wanted to eat at a spot that was on the #theentertainer so on went the location setting that lead us to #nomadbistro. the pub is def a evening spot and not a great place for a lunch date but never the less... we gave it a go! burgers was in the menu for a reward😄 i had the falafel burger with chips on the side. the burger was fresh and the chips was really yummy (keep in mind i never eat potato chips). the chef even offered his freshly made chili pesto. never judge a book by it's cover... my friend's burger was also nice and went well with our #locasavanna

newcomer nomad has come to the cbd with a fairly unique approach. quite boldly it has decided to wow its urban surroundings with something different. and different it is. set right around the corner from bree street, a street that these days functions as one long streetfood and burger competition, this casual open-plan city venue offers a fusion-based french cuisine menu. yes, you read that correctly.

last saturday i arrived for a taster brunch (which in itself is new to me as i try and eat at least four times a day), consisting of 4 menu dishes presented in a miniature version. owner mohit has just opened the venue, and proudly showed me his first art work on the wall he has arranged to display on first thursdays. aside from the art, the restaurant uses mainly wood to create a casual, open, and worldly atmosphere. nomad seems like your average modern coffee joint, no fuss and no flair. but the dishes proved otherwise.

presented in true fancy fashion were, in order, a croque monsieur, pork belly with a cider reduction, roast beef flatbread with a red wine reduction and crepe suzette with armagnac and creme. this particularly fancy brunch soothed the senses, as the produce had been given quite the attention to detail. this was highlighted by the quality of the gruyere cheese and black forest ham in the (often simplified) croque monsieur, the pickled ginger that sided the pork and the quality feta on the flatbread. here is a chef that definitely knows her game.

the food was a particular treat, and although we had some significant pauses between the courses, the wait was definitely worth it. what surprised me was that these specific dishes would most likely be served at a more fancy establishment, and while nomad oozes a more laid-back casual atmosphere, this might be something to get used to for its more spontaneous visitors.

for those who want to bypass some of the more casual street food establishments in the cbd, and perhaps would like a more refined menu for a very comfortable price, nomad bistro is definitely worth a try. i do believe the venue still needs to find a bit more personality, but the food is at least already speaking for itself.

absolitely appauling from entry to exit. customer service was non-existant. food was below mediocre (cold ribs drowned in oil, wings were cold, 'gourmet oreo milkshake' was tasteless and basically a plain watered down chocolate shake). with the bottomless wings you get 2 wings per serving. i mean really? the plates and cutlery are ancient and grubby. the ambiance is basically the only thing somewhat remotely appealing about the place. would never recommend nor return here.

two months ago we went to the nomads' bistro & bar to try the famous bottomless ribs and wings combo.

we arrived and ordered our drinks and waited for an hour. no food came, but everyone else around us got served.

nomads clearly couldn't cope with the pressure of a busy evening and the waitress never came once to rectify the matter or apologise.

we left without eating. a real let-down in the end.

the only mystery till today is why did the other people receive their food, but we didn't.
