favorite restaurant.munchieshas the best pig out food in town. i've been going for 5 years and never had a bad sandwich. the fat daddy, sandy, dickie, and faf are definitely worth the money, and the wait. the dank nugs are the best appetizer in sarasota. the only downfall tomunchiesis the semi-long hold time when placing an order to go. for all the people complaining about seating...go outside where there are picnic tables and pig out. for people complaining about service; treat the staff with respect and they will do the same in return. btw, fire in your hole challenge is insane.

better than i expected. after reading the other mostly older reviews i expected slow service. i walked in, went over to a table and watched who i assumed was my server talk to the bartender for several minutes and then leave the room. after waiting too long due to how i read the other reviews, i finally found my way to the counter where you need to place your order for food. the person i thought was my server was a food runner. don’t make my mistake, make your way to where the order here/pay here sign hangs.

so, it turned out service wasn’t so bad, i was just suffering from first visit confusion. the person who took my order said it would take about 15 minutes and that was about how long it took before she brought the food out to me. as long as i know it will take a little longer than i would expect when i place my order, i’m ok.

i ordered something called fat mike, listed as two cheeseburgers with some toppings. again i assumed wrong and thought what they really meant was two patties on a cheeseburger. boy was i surprised when it came out looking like a monster burrito, a hefty cylinder of food wrapped in foil. i decided against trying to tackle it at the restaurant, i’d already spent too much time at munchies, so i took it home. it was a large and messy to eat sandwich, and in hindsight i should have eaten it like a burrito by unwrapping it as i ate. each half of this sandwich was in effect a cheeseburger. aside from having potato pieces inside my sandwich, i thought it was very good, and much more food than i needed tonight.

it was early when i stopped in, at least earlymunchiestime, and was not very busy. this is not a bright shiny place, more like a dark older establishment where much of the lighting came from the tvs and some christmas lights. i was inside but there is much more seating outside and in what looked like a tiki bar. to me,munchiesseemed more like a bar with food instead of a restaurant with drinks, but they also seemed to do a healthy takeout business, so perhaps food is their main purpose. either way, it was an interesting visit and better than i expected.

they are great!! but they need to get it together in some areas.. i have been tomunchiesseveral times now and i'm a huge fan. it's true that the food takes little long, but that's because of the amount of food that you receive with your meal is enormous. however the last time i dined with them i wasn't as impressed as i was with the previous occurrences. i stood in front of the register ready to order while the employee at the register was on the phone, with who i could only assume to be the owner of the place, discussing the problems that were currently happening right in front of customers. it was just a slight inconvenience to me, but nothing that would cause me to never return to munchies. they could really use more merchandise in the store because they didn't have a single item, (*shirts, rolling papers, etc.) that i asked for. also i'm a little dumbfounded on how the bartenders are supposed to make a decent amount of money a shift without having the benefits of being able to serve food at the bar.

haste makes waste. site is down so i tried to repeat my last order. ms "i dont handle being busy very well" messed up the order. wait an hour to get the wrong items. ms insists im stuck with what i got. thank god im not stuck having to order frommunchiesever again!

bring an appetite and defibrillator.munchiesis not for anyone who is on a diet, has ever dieted, or is thinking about dieting in the future. everything, except the water, is bad for you. but, ohhhh soooo delicious. my entire family (beware as there are age requirements at certain hours) ordered the "fat" sandwiches and nobody was disappointed. all were great, but the "fat daddy" stood out. food was fresh, delicious, and fattening. exactly what food should be.

people complain about the wait, but it's all made when you order. the sign on the counter makes this clear. you may wait a bit, but it's worth it.

great little place. went intomunchiesthis weekend and boy was it packed! the food was great though, well worth the wait. the drunks were unruly, but the employees seem to know how to handle them. i give this place 4 stars and hope they're business stays prosperous. be ready for large portions and be sure check your attitude at the door or prepare for a similar one in return.;d

hells yes!. i've been eating at this place for years, even before mvp! they have the best philly cheese steaks i've ever had, and i'm from philly! it has become a tourist spot in the afternoon, so if you're a local like me do the smart thing and enjoymunchieslate night, when it's the best!

unbelievable. i have been going tomunchies420 for 5 years now. you people who freak about the service and everything else, apparantly youve never eaten at an a place that doesnt wait on you hand and foot and you are premadonnas. the food is amazing!!!!!! everyone i know loves the place. the service yah it sucks, but its worth every bit of the wait and they are busy. if it sucks wy are they so busy? you people are stupid. this place rocks!!!!!

you have to be high to like this place !!!!. first off, i agree with some of the reviews below. the place is small, dirty and the counter guy is an ass. i arrived at 5:30pm on a friday afternoon. to my surprise there were patrons in the place. mostly college kids in their twenties. one family of four came in and order food but cautiously stood in the doorway with their children waiting for their order to be completed.

ok, i looked past the filthy conditions the jerk behind the counter and lack of seating. hell, these guys are just trying to make living, right?

my son and i ordered two chicken sandwiches which includedmunchieshome made potato chips. our order took about twenty minutes to arrive (not bad considering the other reviews here).

the chicken was rubbery the condiments were soggy and the chips (give up on the chips guys there embarrassing!) the roll however was fresh and was the best part of the meal. the size however was medium to small. our bill was over twenty dollars with drinks - oh, by the way, have your pepsi guy recalibrate your syrup draw. the pepsi was so sweet i thought it was coke. he's trying to increase his quota for syrup sales.

this place is for the college crowd. so, if you're high or drunk and you don't care what you eat this is the place for you.

when i was attending rutgers we had a place similar, called the greasy spoon in new brunswick, new jersey. when your young you just want to satisfy themunchiesand when you're high everything taste great!

this is the reason i come to sarasota. friendly service and gigantic portions.munchiesis my favorite!

this place is amazing!! awesome food, great service, hearty portions, reasonable price. what's not to love?!

overall...very disappointing. we visitedmunchies420 cafe recently on a saturday night and based on my experiences i had to write a review. arriving around 9:00pm we were pretty hungry and hopedmunchiescould fix that. our first impression was the size of the establishment, its quite small...the pinball machine in there takes up about a quarter of the waiting area! we were greeted by a very nice lady behind the counter that took our order. i had ordered the garbage philly and my fiancee ordered the long branch chicken sandwich. at this point we were still hopeful for a delicious meal, but things changed quickly...

as we were waiting for our food, we made observations like them stating things were made to order and asking patrons to be patient. about 15 mins in, the very nice lady in the front was replaced by a very rude man in the front. a group of what looked like tourists came in and wanted to do the wing challenge but this guy gave every reason in the book for them not to do it and suggested they order a bunch of other stuff instead. now back to the waiting. let me tell you, the wait was absolutely ridiculous....it took nearly 1 hour for us to get our food. and we counted only 6 orders before ours! this was worst than waiting for chinese on new years eve! when we left, the people that ordered after us were still waiting for their food; which was only 20 wings.....over an hour for 20 wings!?

now on to the food....i was very disappointed in my philly steak. it definitely was a decent size for a sandwich but quality of the ingredients were poor. the beef itself wasn't too bad. the bread on the other hand was slightly stale, but what got me were these nasty rubbery canned mushrooms! i know they're only mushrooms, but i was stunned to find any restaurant using anything canned...this is as far from quality and fresh you can get. the chicken sandwich wasn't any better...my fiancee took one bit and asked for some mcdonalds afterwards, literally. the size of the sandwich was very small and again the ingredients were poor. the chicken patty looked like it was one of those half-chicken half-filler type chicken patties. the one good thing about our meal was the small bag of homemade chips we got. we ate the chips and sadly the sandwiches ended up in the garbage. if you have the "munchies" you're better off at your local 7-11.
