munchies 420 cafe

get ready to wait loooong to order and to get your food. three of us went on a weekday evening and waited well over an hour to get outlet food. there were only 4 other people in the restaurant before us. i believe they had a lot of to go orders but still, 1 hr is waaay too long.

the food wasgoodand filling but i wouldn't say it was fingerlicking good.

very good.... especially after an all night pub crawl. i went here a few years ago and have been wanting to go again ever since. reallygoodmac and cheese and tasty chips!

ate in early and had quick service. the two fat sandwiches i had weregoodbut the wedges overpower a lot of the taste. if i did it again, i would get wedges on the side and not on the sandwich.

horrible service, food, and prices. very greasy, cheap quality food that they take over an hour to make. not to mention overpriced. the customer services is horrible, and they're most likely going to argue with you as opposed to talking with you. the restauraunt itself is the smallest i've been in, and is very unclean. simply horrible - i do not recommend going here to anyone. such a shame because the business has agoodgimmick, if only the owners cared. for those of you giving such positive reviews - you must be stoned.

no excuse for bad service. my friends and i took a day trip to sarasota from tampa - all of us fans of man vs. food. we had a couple of fat sandwiches, wings, and fried twinkies. the food isgood- definitely sinful, but would benefit from fresher ingredients. despite a relatively positive experience taste-wise, i can't imagine we'll be going back.

i'm perplexed as to how the owner/manager can take this publicity for granted by disrespecting customers with such terrible service. if there's regularly a line out the door, how can you possibly not afford to have more than one person manning both the phone and counter?

and the crappy storefront with only a few tables? i can only imagine what most restaurant owners would give to have this kind of recognition/niche, and from the sounds of the reviews - fewer and fewer people will be coming back.

so sad to see great potential wasted due to bad management.

for $10 you get a very large, very unique, and very unhealthy sandwich. i have had both the fat sandy (mac and cheese, cheeseburgers, french fries, onion rings, chicken fingers, ect.) and the fat morning (sausage, egg, tomato, bacon, ect.). both hadgoodtaste but were obviously unhealthy. shop is small and seems dirty and the staff seemed to be pissed off and tired. food 8/10 service and cleaniness 4/10

take your own pepto. infamous for their "fat" sandwiches, which in the long run will just give you diarrhea and lovehandles, this place has become a staple in sarasota's culture. delivery is unreliable and could leave you waiting for hours, but takeout is agoodalternative. if you shop at whole foods, you probably won't step within 20 feet of this place. beware, your stomach will be tortured - but the food still might be worth it to some.

horrible customer service. we've been waiting here for over 40 min for 2 sandwiches. i haven't even tasted the food yet but it can't begoodenough to wait for 40 min with no seating.

overall...very disappointing. we visited munchies 420 cafe recently on a saturday night and based on my experiences i had to write a review. arriving around 9:00pm we were pretty hungry and hoped munchies could fix that. our first impression was the size of the establishment, its quite small...the pinball machine in there takes up about a quarter of the waiting area! we were greeted by a very nice lady behind the counter that took our order. i had ordered the garbage philly and my fiancee ordered the long branch chicken sandwich. at this point we were still hopeful for a delicious meal, but things changed quickly...

as we were waiting for our food, we made observations like them stating things were made to order and asking patrons to be patient. about 15 mins in, the very nice lady in the front was replaced by a very rude man in the front. a group of what looked like tourists came in and wanted to do the wing challenge but this guy gave every reason in the book for them not to do it and suggested they order a bunch of other stuff instead. now back to the waiting. let me tell you, the wait was absolutely ridiculous....it took nearly 1 hour for us to get our food. and we counted only 6 orders before ours! this was worst than waiting for chinese on new years eve! when we left, the people that ordered after us were still waiting for their food; which was only 20 wings.....over an hour for 20 wings!?

now on to the food....i was very disappointed in my philly steak. it definitely was a decent size for a sandwich but quality of the ingredients were poor. the beef itself wasn't too bad. the bread on the other hand was slightly stale, but what got me were these nasty rubbery canned mushrooms! i know they're only mushrooms, but i was stunned to find any restaurant using anything canned...this is as far from quality and fresh you can get. the chicken sandwich wasn't any better...my fiancee took one bit and asked for some mcdonalds afterwards, literally. the size of the sandwich was very small and again the ingredients were poor. the chicken patty looked like it was one of those half-chicken half-filler type chicken patties. the onegoodthing about our meal was the small bag of homemade chips we got. we ate the chips and sadly the sandwiches ended up in the garbage. if you have the "munchies" you're better off at your local 7-11.

this is tough, since i really wanted to like this place. but there were just too many negatives to recommend it. i did really like the long branch burger; it was very tasty. but others in my party were disappointed in their food. the fat sandwiches were anything but, with barely any toppings and a lukewarm temperature. some of the other items (rings and wings) seemed like they were hours old and just sitting under a heat lamp all day. service was terrible; i take that back, service was nonexistent. the place is tiny; we knew that going in, but they really do need more of a seating area. and the day we were there, it was filthy. so while the burger was very good, there are just too many other problems to make it worth the trip. these things can be fixed, so i will watch future reviews and hope that they do indeed fix them.goodluck!
