such an incredible dining experience at mudbrick! location is stunning with vineyard valleys and auckland city views in the distance. the vineyard grounds itself is like a painting with formal english gardens and main buildings liken to countryside villas. make sure you reserve a table by the window to enjoy the views, and on a clear day the bifold doors are opened so you can enjoy the scenery while dining. make your bookings well in advance before making your journey to waiheke island.
service is immaculate with waiters knowledgeable with the menu detailing each dish we ordered as they laid the plates in front of us. my eyes lit up at my hay cooked lamb loin; cooked to medium rare only with broccoli purée, oyster mushrooms, raisins and macadamia nuts. the lamb was succulent and sweet and the buttery crust made it even more delectable! 👌 it paired beautifully with the suggested wine, mudbrick's cabernet sauvignon merlot malbec.
we couldn't leave without trying their desserts and the mudbrick velvet meets valrhona chocolate caught my eye, mostly because of the cassis red wine icecream! the tanginess of the blackcurrent paired well with the rich chocolate mousse.
if i'm ever back in auckland, i will surely be making my way here!
