this establishment has the feel of luxury of the rich and famous. stunning and articulate grounds with million dollar views back to the city.
the standout thing about mudbrick is the heavy emphasis on the plating of their dishes. look at the scallop entree for example. almost a floral display and for a plate, one may regard this as almost cluttered or too busy. others would say value for money given that was the entree. the taste was excellent with good sized scallops and contrasting tastes to the mousse etc. 5/5. i forget what else was on the menu.
having had a good steak a few nights before i again had the beef fillet as a main. served medium rare and cooked perfectly was a delight to taste. 4/5 friends had the fish which was commented as a little too small a serving given the price. a side of potatoes helped but it wasnt fish. service wise ok. slight issue was one guest ordered the lamb but got fish. still she was happy.
desserts were another immaculate design. im not big on fancy desserts so to be fair if you ordered something you liked then you got quite alot. i found my berry dessert too overpowering in taste simply as i wasnt too crazy about them. was a little disappointed with their mudbrick pinot noir on the menu. 2014 so was far from its best and really needed to be breathed a good hour before serving. 2/5. overall a great resturant bordering on up there with terrior of havelock north nz. but poor wine for a vineyard.

had an amazing time at mudbrick bistro on waiheke. absolutely beautiful setting and delicious food. chef was very creative- mixing textures and flavours that you would never think would go together but were amazing! a real experience of fine dining which is limited in new zealand. only downside was our waitress was forgetful as she forgot our orders and we had to repeat them to her and she forgot to bring me a drink i ordered. otherwise a remarkable lunch!

this place is divine! from the moment you enter you feel like you're in a vineyard in italy. the nicely groomed garden leads you up to the restuarant where there is both indoor and outdoor dining available. we ordered a mudbrick platter and some chips for sides. the menu says the platter feeds two people but the three of us left the restaurant very full and satisfied. my personal favourite would have to be the lemon pepper squid! crispy and great flavour. on a downside there wasnt much variety of food on the menu and the dishes were all very pricey (the platter alone was $60, plus an additional surchage as it was waitangi day), so i would not recommend it for people who are looking for cafe food. all in all the atmosphere was great! i now understand why people come to waiheke island just to visit this gorgeous restaurant.

how stunning is this place!?! the best weekend getaway on waiheke island, for some degustation and wine. it was a 9 course degustation, and we picked a mud brick sav. can't say anything more about this place, just an absolute must visit!

i went to mudbrick for my best friends 25the birthday and i must say the food as amazing! so many beautiful textures and flavours, coupled with nice wine and a beautiful view. what let my visit down was the service and disorganization. we were booked in to do a wine tasting as well, but instead of doing the tasting first so we knew what wine to order they made up eat first even after requesting to do the tasting first. just as we started to eat as well the girl serving us came around and asked for our tickets instead of waiting for us to finish eating

auckland’s favourite island, waiheke is speckled with award-winning boutique vineyards, idyllic beaches and now a haven of amazing restaurants.

we decided to spend our day at mudbrick vineyard and restaurant which has a handsome building situated on a hill that offers a spectacular view of the hauraki gulf.

for $15 per person, we tasted a total of five premium wine (two white and three red) and the lovely gentlemen who served us discussed extensively about the wine and the particular notes that we should appreciate. he was informative and friendly, making the tasting enjoyable for the four of us. we stopped by at their resturant for a light meal and ordered a cheese platter and oysters to share, perfect with a delicious glass of wine! we chose four different variety of cheeses (out of six) and these was accompanied with home-made chutney, honey, crackers, lavosh and poached figs. their cheese are sourced form local producers on waiheke and greater auckland, as well as from their french cheesemonger.

our half dozen of te matuku bay oysters is artistically presented with ginger beer jelly, cucumber, baby coriander and is dressed with a thai nam jim sauce with pieces of crunchy meringue. the sauce is similar to a vinaigrette which is tangy and sour but with a slight spicy kick. very appetizing and the oysters were fresh and juicy.

waiheke island is a must visit location when traveling to auckland. i consider it a foodie’s paradise where you can mix beautiful surroundings with great award-winning wine and tasty food. also, because of the vast options available, you can easily spend the whole weekend at waiheke, wining and dining to your heart’s content. i must make my way back to waiheke in the near future!

a beautiful setting, we were in the bistro as a wedding was in the main restaurant. food and service was divine. only reason i'm rating less than excellent was that we were charged a public holiday surcharge which i felt unnecessary and tacky considering the overall price.

amazing. we were seated in the bistro. this room does not have the views of auckland but the ambience and warmth if this rooms makes this one if the best restaurants i have eaten in. the service is wonderful and the food is outstanding. i thoroughly recommend eating here at least once. do not skip desert. force yourself. it is to die for.

lovely vineyard on waiheke island with a gorgeous outdoor seating area for friends to sit and enjoy the setting whilst sharing food and wine. we had the vineyard sharing platter for two and ordered an extra serving of the calamari. the platter was delicious complemented and paired with the lovely white wines from the menu. the calamari was great so was even the simple cheese breadsticks and dips. a highlight of our trip to waiheke island.
