mtr 1924

mtr needs no introduction, it's a legendary restaurant in bengaluru. so i was very excited to visit their outlet in udupi. we visited mtr for dinner, as expected it's jam packed. we ordered rava idli, rava masala dosa, bisi bele bath and filter coffee. they serve small cup ofgheewith every dish you order. i really loved that fluffy rava idli and that golden crispy rava masala dosa. bisi bele bath was really amazing and filter coffee was perfect. ambience of this place is amazing and service was quick. i read the story of invention of rava idli and the reason behind it, which is interesting. i am really looking forward to visit their original establishment in bengaluru.

mtr has always been a go to place to eat their yummy snacks and snack platter.

what we ordered and ate:

wow all so yummy and cooked with pureghee. the sheer smell and taste of such food is drooling.

must try - bisi bele bath
it was served with a tiny cup ofgheewhich adds much taste to the dish. writing this after a week of my visit there, i can still remember the taste. best bb bath ever had

ultimate is the word- we had rava idli with desi ghee, mendu vada , masala dosa with desigheeand then outstanding coffee . highly recommend to all

mtr also known as mavalli tiffin room is one of the best places in and around udupi to get a dosa. they have a long history of the restaurant which is decorated on their walls.

they use authenticgheein almost all their products which requires oil and provides you with a very small sample ofgheealong with your dish so as for you to authenticate the type ofgheethey are using to cook their dishes.

all of their south indian dishes are mouth watering specially everything with rava. their sambar has a unique taste of it's own which you can't forget and their chutney being a very thick paste of coconut and spices.

this restaurant is a little pricey as you can tell that their dosa are around 90 rs each and one cup of tea is 30 rs.
but believe me when i say that it's worth every paisa you will be spending over here.

they are very uptight about cleanliness and there is a high chance that whenever you visit, you will find one person brooming the floor. don't get me wrong, this is an amazing quality for a restaurant as it provides you with an insight on their hygienic levels.

toilets in the restaurant is also very clean and hygienic. this restaurant seems to be a part of a hotel which you can see right behind me, but caters to the tourists more often than just hotel guests.

food is amazing. open dosa and bisibelabath is lip smacking. most of their dishes are served withgheeand it sure does add that extra flavour to the food. the only drawback is that they have very limited menu.

if you've tried the mtr in bangalore , then you surely know what to expect when at mtr 1924!
delicious crisp dosas , the variety of rice and sweet dishes all made in puregheeand tastes absolutely divine....the filter coffee was the cherry on top.
this is gonna be my regular whenever in mangalore for sure.

pure south indian food! 👌👌
you will find limited veariety in menu but food is delicious.
it’s very clean and tidy place even staff wore clean uniforms with a smile on their face.
now let’s talk about food we had
cutlet - crispiness was missing but taste wasn't..so 4 out 5. hope they work on this😊

bonda soup - for the frst time we tried this item, it’s small bonda 4 in quantity dipped in yummy soup (kind of sambar) 4.5 out of 5

chow chow bath-it’s a combination of kesaribath and upma,i felt kesaribath was dipped in ghee!!😁 4.5 /5

rava dosa - the centre of attraction in this dish isgheebowl it was small and cute. dosa was delicious 4.5/5

mangalore buns-if u r mangalorian then i would recommend not to order from this hotel as it's taste is different then other restaurant but good 4/5

filter coffee- if you like strong coffee then this is right place for you 4/5

fruit mixture-as i uploaded photo of this item it’s attractive in look but is not up to level. this one made up of badam milk fruits and ice cream scoop on top 3/5

total bill was 649.95 rupees

one negative point is regarding ac temperature it's cooling wasn't enough.

neat and clean restaurant for real south indian food. every item hasgheein it so if you are not agheeperson this place is not for you. the rava dosa is also made withgheeand not oil. service is good. there is a special dessert available only on sunday’s called chandra something and that is also great!
