we went here for a business lunch and the waiter picked our wines - perfectly. the location is good, nothing special, but good - while it is a lovely open space that is new, it is a let down by what is a dated fitout and i really don’t get uncomfortable bench seats in a fine dining restaurant. the food was to me very good, but just not rich enough to meet what i always love about french food - maybe it is just me. the duck i had was crispy, but over cooked and lacked flavour. the sheeps brains as entree were good, but once again, the sauce was missing something. the service was friendly, well informed and quick - but the little things let it down - ask me please to take my coat rather than leaving it crumpled on the bench seat (i do hate these bench seats). the toilets being outside and open to the public is a real let down for this location. scrapes in a 4 thanks to the wine choice.

you know the place people keep telling you about? the one everyone says is the epitome of that particular cuisine in your city? the one you inevitably put off visiting because it’s one of those ‘special occasion’ restaurants? montrachet has been one of those places for us. its reputation meant we would only allow ourselves to visit to celebrate a special occasion and  so when my birthday rocked up, the so made the earliest dinner booking. to stretch our dining pleasure without doing the same to our stomachs, we agreed to order an entrée to share, a main each and a dessert to share. to start, we decided on the gnocchi et crevettes sauce aux cêpes - freshly made potato gnocchi topped with tiger prawns and porcini mushroom sauce gnocchi et crevettes sauce aux cêpes. aud$22 our waiter slid effortlessly back to ask if we would prefer an extra prawn, as the dish would normally come with only three. uneven numbers can be such tricky creatures and rather than fight over the last prawn, we agre

bon vivant. back to montrachet for lunch today was the highlight of my month. 3 courses beautifully balanced with the veuve and cheeky red wine as selected by our kind waitress. merci.

good food good service. a group of four ate here, and all enjoyed starters, mains & dessert. excellent service. however the prices are more expensive than paris.

went here for my birthday dinner and the food was out of this world. felt like i was in paris being served delicious authentic french food! the service was amazing too and they have a superb wine list! can't fault them!

the food and ambiance was fantastic, absolutely perfect. however, my partner and i felt as if our waitress was quite judgmental and skipped on the customer service she gave us as we didn't look as 'upperclass' as the other diners. she gave excellent service to the table next to us but was rude and gave us looks of disapproval throughout the night. it was disappointing to say the least as we loved everything else about our experience.

had an amazing meal here. the food was top notch - delicious and cooked with finesse. the service was just fantastic as well, from all the staff - very friendly, professional and attentive. would highly recommendable.

visiting for a weekday dinner we are warmly greeted on arrival. our refreshing moneypenny and goji antoinette cocktails arrive pronto. cheers!

*duck and cognac parfait with warm toasted brioche is a great appetiser.
*tasmanian oysters freshly shucked, served with a mignonette sauce are plump and scrumptious.

*bouillabaisse has fresh fish, cuttlefish, prawns, scallops and a serving of rouille and croutons. a larger serving of broth would have made this dish perfect.
*black angus eye fillet (300g) is grilled to perfection and is served with french fries, salad and green peppercorn sauce. this medium-rare eye fillet is fantastic!

*crème brûlée is simply presented without fanfare. the creamy vanilla custard and crunchy caramelised topping always satisfies.
*chocolate soufflé is beautifully puffed up, rising high above the rim. the hot centre, oven dried lychee, crème anglaise and mirabelle sorbet makes this my favourite dessert.
*cafe latte is intense and full flavoured.

well this was a truly 5star meal. crab soufflé and bisque was superb and followed up with a fantastic tasting bouillabaisse really made my night. so much so that i told the waiter this was the best meal of my life from beginning to the end. can’t wait to find a reason to return. have been meaning to go to montrachet for ages and now it is my top brissie restaurant!

went here for a birthday dinner and was thoroughly impressed by the quality and creativity of fine food on display. service was excellent, our waiter was very genuine and attentive (but not overly), providing us with knowledgeable descriptions of the food and even the recipe for some components on request. we both had the tasting menu, and the restaurant was able to cater towards my girlfriend for her pescatarian needs. the dishes that came out were all of excellent quality, of note the smoked milk pasta, the very interesting take on raclette, and the scallops.

what a wonderful night! beautiful food, amazing service and great atmosphere. we ordered bouillabaisse, steak, beans and paris mash. we finished the night with the most divine desserts! we will definitely be back
