rarely puts a foot wrong. montrachet rarely puts a foot wrong with its beautifully prepared dishes and chic surrounds.
there's a few seating options - at the bar for singles, , couples and those keen to discuss wine with the lovely waiters, at the tables for groups and those looking for a more formal experience, and outside for those ... well those who didn't book early enough! don't sit outside - book another day - the traffic and fumes are awful.
i had the gravlax salmon to start which was light and flavoursome with a beautiful olive oil. the other half enjoyed his snails in shells, which were particularly garlicky.
for mains i chose the veal medallions, which were very tender, and the other half went for the classic duck a l'orange - a very well executed dish and highly recommended.
every mouthful is a taste sensation and the friendly chef/owner makes you feel quite special when he comes for a chat over dessert. the staff seem like a group of people who genuinely seem to be enjoying themselves, and who are more than happy to take time out to chat with you.
the only shame is not opening weekends, which means we didn't drink as much of the wine list as we would like.
