make sure you check the use by dates before purchasing anything from montalto. today purchased 5 take away pizza use by tomorrow. when i rang to question with the restaurant no apology was offered. would have expected better from an up market establishment. be warned!

restaurant is perfect for a long lunch. second time here, and loved it again. we were impressed with most courses aside from a lamb dish that was still ok. service is attentive, montalto wines are lovely (notably the chardonnay). desserts are a highlight, so save room!

we had eagerly awaited our dinner and were unfortunately quite disappointed. the food was okay but not wow and our waitress had to keep checking what was in each dish when we were ordering - 101 of good service is knowing your product!

of a little piece of heaven. i think my title says it all.
we didnt make a booking,
and im glad we didnt,
because we loved the outdoor casual dining area to bits.

it was a great view, great food....
i'd love to go back again,
quite possibly when the spring heads our wayy..

try their extra virgin olive oil,
because it's all so awesome...

great moment. wonderful combination of colors and texture. stuff is divine with customer the food would be un salted without there professionality and focus to make you feel their more importante guest

never again. had lunch here in february. the space is nice, the wine ok although the pinot noir seemed very heavy for the style, the wait staff well i'll give them the benefit of a doubt but the food is unremarkable in taste and flavour combination when considered in conjunction with the price. no value or excitement here in my opinion.

beautiful venue horrible service. walked into the cafe side and staff were so rude and unwelcoming we walked out. will not be returning here.

beautiful setting. we recently went to this woderful place for my dads 70'th, hs choce, a very relaxed night. menu was fairly limited however 7/8 of our table thoroughly enjoyed it. most of us ordered the meat dish and unfortunately our mums dish came out rare instead of medium ( we think the wrong one was givven to one f the other guests at or able). it was very red!
we dud oount this out to the waitress who poceeded to tell us that meat shoud be eaten medium as it dry out!!!!
when it was obvious tt mum was going to leave mst f it on the plate anter waitress ffered to take t back and re-cook it. unfortunately by then it was too late mum was too embarrased to say yes so declined.
this was te on,y negative we had of the night....infact we enjoyed ourseves so much the next week we went r kunch at the pizza area and will definately return

lovely scenery and good service, good food. visited the piazza cafe area for lunch yesterday. our pizza took 40mins to come, but the foh was really apologetic, gave us free olives and even refund for the pizza, so no hard feelings at all. it's impressive that they have such great customer service even in the casual dining area.
pizza was lovely, so was the wine. it could have been perfect if the bread for the estate tasting plate was warm. it may be also a good idea to have some sort of heating or blanket for customers.
overall it was good, would love to come back.

we booked months in advance and came as a large group for a special occasion to dine in their piazza, on the set $65 a head menu. on arrival we were told that the main courses had run out and were served some fried appetisers and 4 very ordinary pizzas between 10 adults. this was pretty disappointing, there was no apology and the service was poor. we were only charged $50 a head, but the a la carte cost for what we ordered was at best $20 a head. pleasant setting, but an absolute rip off. avoid.

best on peninsula. have been here numerous times. always beautiful food. lovely service. seats could be a little more comfortable. highly recommended!

we were lucky enough to enjoy a sneak preview of some of the locally sourced, seasonal offerings gracing the menu, including montalto head chef barry davis’ ragu of wild mushroom with baked polenta (made with organic buckwheat flour – incredibly light yet creamy) and taleggio cheese, matched with the winery’s 2010 pinot noir.

nice food and atmosphere. i am told the views from this restaurant are superb, but sadly our only chance to dine here was in the evening. we could, however, see some of the interesting sculptures lit up around the grounds.
we were greeted promptly and our waitress was excellent throughout the evening. she was professional and knowledgeable, whilst also very friendly.
i had the scallops as an entree, which came with chicken wings. this sounded unusual, but the result was very nice. we both had the gippsland beef as mains. it was nicely cooked and presented but we both agreed that the end result left something to be desired. perhaps it was us.
a good restaurant, nonetheless.

we ate here today (sat). great views, fantastic pizzas - a real taste sensation. long wait for pizzas & no cutlery & no napkins to wipe our sticky fingers, but def would return just for the pizzas!
