montalto? more like montawesome!. not the cheapest of places, but you get what you pay for; delicious and decadent food and wines. great atmosphere and attentive staff help make this restaurant a must-see on the mornington peninsula. the chefs hats are well deserved. will definitely be returning.

the complete set menu for $115.00 was pathetic and ridiculously expensive for the tiny portion served. main course had so much salt i'm still quenching my thirst @ 8pm.
waitress had virtually no interest in service.
very noisy room needs acoustic treatment and and on top of that rubbish through the sound system.
they won't see me again !!

lovely celebratory winter lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the view, the surroundings and the vegetarian friendly fixed menu. highlights were the delicious roasted carrots and the sunchokes. a few menu hiccups - the ‘marinara’ dish with the main course of beautiful beef turned out to be a kind of seafood soup and quite out of place in that course. a salad would have been a more appropriate choice. and the veg alternative which was a chinese influenced eggplant dish was too vinegary and didn’t fit in either. however, overall highly recommended.

ordered pizzas which were extremely average at best. zucchini on a pizza is just wrong! overpriced and unexciting dishes.

on the plus side, service was wonderful and views stunning.

highly recommend to come here for a wine and coffee experience, on a warm summer day to sit on the lawn and have a stroll, take photos.

skip the meal. not worth it. sorry montalto - we came with high expectations but left disappointed.

wowowowow what an utter disappointment...i should have listened to the lady leaving before we were seated, complaining about how awful the service was, value for money...ordering a scoop of homemade icecream for $8 and it being served in a plastic container even though she was dining in. i should have taken this as a hint to leave, but i guess i decided we had already waited 30 minutes for a table we might have a different experience. but nope.. the food was way over priced $26.00 for the tiniest pizza ever, not to mention it had no fancy ingredients that they should be charging so much.

the chat potatoes with rosemary and aioli. the dish was missing the rosemary and the aioli was a terrible combination. i found the service very slow, and staff not particularly welcoming or friendly. i understand they were busy but it doesn't hurt to smile. it is a shame as the atmosphere and scenery is quite pretty and if the food quality, value for money and service improved it would be a wonderful spot for lunch with friends etc.

a family catch up, a romantic date or hangouts with friends - montalto is the perfect place in the area.
the views are spectacular and the food were amazing!
we had a range of starters, mains and a cheese platter for dessert, and we loved them all.
beautifully cooked and presented - we will definitely come back again for more!

we were so disappointed with montalto. when i called to make the booking i was asked what my dietary requirements were (no carbs and no red meat) however when we arrived there was not even acknowledgement of this. if you aren’t going to acknowledge my diet then please don’t ask. the waitress was lovely though no complaints there but it felt like the food failed at trying to be over the top creative. i think it just fell short on flavour for us. also when i asked about the clams and was told they were served raw i made it clear that i didn’t eat raw fish and there was no mention made about my selection of the kingfish which was just seared. it should have been mentioned. overall very disappointing and if you’re paying $300 for dinner then you would expect to at the very least enjoy the food which wasn’t the case for us.

not bad food, service was terrible. was
given the feed me for 2 voucher with wine for my 30th, excited to try it. waited 40 minutes between meals. plates never cleared, nobody around to ask anything. servers serving one end of the table and not bothering to even look down the other end. will never return to montalto!

we enjoyed a really great wine tasting here with an experienced host who even let us taste a top shelf pinot noir that wasn’t on the list. the tasting fees are quite steep - $10 per tasting to try about half a dozen wines, though this is waived if you purchase wine. lunch was brilliant, we went for the more causal dining option (they also have a fine dining restaurant) and what a setting and view! it was gorgeous sitting in the window looking out over the vines and even on a chilly winter it was toasty warm due to well-placed heaters. obviously the wine list is well-rounded and we knew what we liked from having done the tastings, i went for a tasty pinot noir. we order prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella and rocket which was absolutely delicious, as was the roasted and pickled beetroot dish. a pine mushroom pizza with a delicious garlicky flavour was also a standout dish. this visit to montalto was a highlight of the weekend. we will definitely be back.

montalto is a gorgeous place to eat at and take visitors as you can walk around and check out their sculpture garden too.

their pizzas are pretty good. they have a limited selection on their menu to choose from which makes it a lot easier to decide which dishes to try. their slow roast lamb shoulder was super tender and great to share.
