beautiful setting. we recently went to this woderfulplacefor my dads 70'th, hs choce, a very relaxed night. menu was fairly limited however 7/8 of our table thoroughly enjoyed it. most of us ordered the meat dish and unfortunately our mums dish came out rare instead of medium ( we think the wrong one was givven to one f the other guests at or able). it was very red!
we dud oount this out to the waitress who poceeded to tell us that meat shoud be eaten medium as it dry out!!!!
when it was obvious tt mum was going to leave mst f it on the plate anter waitress ffered to take t back and re-cook it. unfortunately by then it was too late mum was too embarrased to say yes so declined.
this was te on,y negative we had of the night....infact we enjoyed ourseves so much the next week we went r kunch at the pizza area and will definately return

lovely celebratory winter lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the view, the surroundings and the vegetarian friendly fixed menu. highlights were the delicious roasted carrots and the sunchokes. a few menu hiccups - the ‘marinara’ dish with the main course of beautiful beef turned out to be a kind of seafood soup and quite out ofplacein that course. a salad would have been a more appropriate choice. and the veg alternative which was a chinese influenced eggplant dish was too vinegary and didn’t fit in either. however, overall highly recommended.

had a super set menu lunch here yesterday. menu was fresh and very tasty. service staff were excellent. bookings essential as theplacewas packed.

a family catch up, a romantic date or hangouts with friends - montalto is the perfectplacein the area.
the views are spectacular and the food were amazing!
we had a range of starters, mains and a cheese platter for dessert, and we loved them all.
beautifully cooked and presented - we will definitely come back again for more!

montalto is a gorgeousplaceto eat at and take visitors as you can walk around and check out their sculpture garden too.

their pizzas are pretty good. they have a limited selection on their menu to choose from which makes it a lot easier to decide which dishes to try. their slow roast lamb shoulder was super tender and great to share.

had high expectations of thisplacebut left with mixed feelings
had the whiting as a starter was delish
steak and barramundi for mains steak a little chewy barramundi delish
the kefler potatoes with zhong stole the show
a real highlight . the olive crumb on top was tasty but wasted
generally felt the staff did their job but didn’t feel truly welcomed,mainly maître de.
overall not sure i would return as for$200 approx
for lunch one would like an overall lovely experience.

what a fabulousplaceto spend an afternoon dining on montalto’s superb food and drinking their equally superb wine. we chose to dine in their restaurant rather than the piazza café, however, would have been happy in either, just a different experience. the panoramic view of the vineyards and artwork dotted around the estate added to the ambience.

great service - friendly, professional and helpful - and really stand-out food. the dry-aged duck was one of the best duck dishes i've ever eaten. lovelyplacefor a lunch out.

beautiful winery but seriously impressive wait time! if you're going on a weekend my tip is to get in early as we waited 2 hours just to get a seat! food was high quality and well portioned, but what set thisplaceapart was the ambiance - stunning open plan balcony overlooking a lovely winery. pizzas were nothing special, but the wine was good and views to die for

we have been coming here at least once or twice a year for the past five years and are never disappointed. if you want a fine dining experience, the restaurant is delicious, the service is great, and the room is elegant with great views on the beautiful vineyards. if you're after a more simple/cheaper experience, the cafe is delightful, especially on a sunny day: we love to sit outside in the garden, surrounded by flowers, veggies, and beautiful vineyards! the pizzas and salads are delicious, everything is so tasty and fresh - most ingredients are grown and/or produced on the estate or in the nearby region. theplaceis often very busy so the service can sometimes be either a little forgetful or rushed but it is usually friendly and overall satisfying. the wine is not the best in victoria but it is pretty good - i really like one of their pinot noir. they also make delicious olive oil and other produce. after lunch you can have a stroll around this beautiful estate and discover sculptures and contemporary outdoor artwork hidden around the gardens and vineyards. i highly recommend thisplacefor any occasion and at any time of the year (although better when sunny), whether with friends, family, or for a romantic lunch. the cafe is great with kids too who can wonder around the garden while adults chat or wait for their food! (will add more photos another time)

been to montalto twice and from my experience i prefer and recommend the piazza restaurant outside! it's a different experience sitting outside amongst beautiful nature & at a fraction of the price.
the side of soft cheese was tasty!
the prawn entree was a standout dish! perfection on a plate. wanted to lick my plate! choose that for your entree, you won't regret it.
lamb for the main was also delicious and cooked perfectly. the chicken for the main was just okay. wait was way too long between entree and main- approx 30+ min. this is a fine diningplace- so prepare to pay $$$ for small portions 😉 oh & great service from the blonde lady with the accent.

what a place! beautiful gardens and location. food was great, ate in the piazza but surroundings made it worth while. probably bestplacein red hill

stopped at montalto for lunch on saturday as part of our winery tour around the red hill area. we had an organised shared lunch that included grilled halomui, roast potato, quail, roast duck, brussel sprouts in duck fat, chargrilled broccolini and kale with hummus, and cos lettuce salad. it was quite substantial and lovely setting for lunch. one of my only criticisms of thisplacewould just be that it is so busy, it's obviously really nice and has great food and wine and attracts a lot of people, so it's not as quiet and peaceful as some of the other wineries.

went here on the queens birthday weekend for lunch and the food was excellent. the views over the winery were very cool and so was the service. greatplaceto come for formal dining or for a casual meal.

a completely underwhelming experience. the only thing that saved thisplacefrom getting a lower rating was the customer service. entrée came out with no cutlery, waited patiently for nearly 10 minutes then had to wave down the maitre de. food was so average the manager took our pizza off the bill after we made a complaint. they were clearly understaffed for sunday lunch. a huge disappointment, we ended up going to foxey's for a much better feed for about the same price.
