never again. hadlunchhere in february. the space is nice, the wine ok although the pinot noir seemed very heavy for the style, the wait staff well i'll give them the benefit of a doubt but the food is unremarkable in taste and flavour combination when considered in conjunction with the price. no value or excitement here in my opinion.

lovely scenery and good service, good food. visited the piazza cafe area forlunchyesterday. our pizza took 40mins to come, but the foh was really apologetic, gave us free olives and even refund for the pizza, so no hard feelings at all. it's impressive that they have such great customer service even in the casual dining area.
pizza was lovely, so was the wine. it could have been perfect if the bread for the estate tasting plate was warm. it may be also a good idea to have some sort of heating or blanket for customers.
overall it was good, would love to come back.

lovely celebratory winterlunchand we thoroughly enjoyed the view, the surroundings and the vegetarian friendly fixed menu. highlights were the delicious roasted carrots and the sunchokes. a few menu hiccups - the ‘marinara’ dish with the main course of beautiful beef turned out to be a kind of seafood soup and quite out of place in that course. a salad would have been a more appropriate choice. and the veg alternative which was a chinese influenced eggplant dish was too vinegary and didn’t fit in either. however, overall highly recommended.

wowowowow what an utter disappointment...i should have listened to the lady leaving before we were seated, complaining about how awful the service was, value for money...ordering a scoop of homemade icecream for $8 and it being served in a plastic container even though she was dining in. i should have taken this as a hint to leave, but i guess i decided we had already waited 30 minutes for a table we might have a different experience. but nope.. the food was way over priced $26.00 for the tiniest pizza ever, not to mention it had no fancy ingredients that they should be charging so much.

the chat potatoes with rosemary and aioli. the dish was missing the rosemary and the aioli was a terrible combination. i found the service very slow, and staff not particularly welcoming or friendly. i understand they were busy but it doesn't hurt to smile. it is a shame as the atmosphere and scenery is quite pretty and if the food quality, value for money and service improved it would be a wonderful spot forlunchwith friends etc.

we enjoyed a really great wine tasting here with an experienced host who even let us taste a top shelf pinot noir that wasn’t on the list. the tasting fees are quite steep - $10 per tasting to try about half a dozen wines, though this is waived if you purchase wine.lunchwas brilliant, we went for the more causal dining option (they also have a fine dining restaurant) and what a setting and view! it was gorgeous sitting in the window looking out over the vines and even on a chilly winter it was toasty warm due to well-placed heaters. obviously the wine list is well-rounded and we knew what we liked from having done the tastings, i went for a tasty pinot noir. we order prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella and rocket which was absolutely delicious, as was the roasted and pickled beetroot dish. a pine mushroom pizza with a delicious garlicky flavour was also a standout dish. this visit to montalto was a highlight of the weekend. we will definitely be back.

located in red hill, amongst the mornington peninsula wine region, is a beautiful winery called montalto vineyard and olive grove. on the day of our visit, we were booked in for a lovely lunch. we started with a glass of 2016 montalto estate pinot noir, as selecting from the menu took a little longer due to the beautiful scenery and the dynamic kitchen team preparing for thelunchsitting.

had high expectations of this place but left with mixed feelings
had the whiting as a starter was delish
steak and barramundi for mains steak a little chewy barramundi delish
the kefler potatoes with zhong stole the show
a real highlight . the olive crumb on top was tasty but wasted
generally felt the staff did their job but didn’t feel truly welcomed, mainly maître de.
overall not sure i would return as for$200 approx
forlunch one would like an overall lovely experience.

having a 3 hourlunchwith 2 young toddlers is no easy task but montalto's staff were warm and very accommodating. special mention to megan, who made our good meal a great one.

food was slow between courses in the beginning. a quick word to megan promptly sped things up.

we had the 5 course tasting menu including one vegetarian. the highlights were pork jowl, the duck with preserved mandarin, baby carrots with macadamia and the silky cheese ice cream (forgotten actual name of dish).

a shame it was raining otherwise the grounds with would have been great for the young ones to roam about.

great service - friendly, professional and helpful - and really stand-out food. the dry-aged duck was one of the best duck dishes i've ever eaten. lovely place for alunchout.

we enjoyed a nicelunchhere in the restaurant. the dishes were good but there were not many stand out dishes, our mains were on the bland side. no complaints about the service. great scenery, i can see why it's popular. if we visit again we'll try the picnic option in their garden.
