mojo no.4, urban bbq whiskey bar

mojo's !!. niceplace.. good service .. good prices .. easy to get in and out. wish they played more blues. black eyed peas and collard greens and corn bread cannot be beat !! the dry rubbed ribs are to die for. nice bar with lots of whiskey to sample.

first time here in jacksonville and actually first time in this side of the country. i had to try some good bbq. thisplacewas great. my girl friend and i split "the whole hog" which was a big platter of all the different meats. of definitely suggest it if you'd like to try a little bit of everything. i loved all of the food but i was impressed with the pulled pork and the turkey! oh and the setting is really nice! super clean and very classy place!

absolutely love the whiskey and bourbon selection here. the restaurant itself has a great relaxed vibe in a dimly lit dining room. funplaceto go with friends before walking over to some of the bars down the street. menu items are simple and delicious.

fair food great music. i have heard about thisplacefor along time now. so tonight one of my favorite bands were playing here so why not. i got there and theplacewas packed and very loud. you weren't going to talk across the table tonight. i decided to try some of the bbq fair. i did the burnt ends and some rings. now the burnt end should be very tender being the point part of the brisket. you smoke the brisket cut off the point and chunk it up and throw it back into the smoke. well they didn't. i think they used the flat which is the less fatty part. it is not as tender and tends to dry out pretty quickly. the rings were pretty good and so was the dipping sauce. the breading was a little thick for me but then that's why they make chocolate ice cream. everyone don't like vanilla. the band rocked as they usually do. so in all i think i will return but it will probably be when the firewater tent revival is playing again.

best of the mojo chain. i like thisplaceand like their sides. they do a better job here than the other mojo locations in the city. plus theplacehas a great vibe.

a solid 7.5 or 8/10. jacksonville as a whole does not have great bbq. but mojo #4 is somewhere between 3-5th best.

too loud, acoustics need tweaking. main thing is, i gotta agree with other reviewers, theplaceis too loud. i tried to listen to a live band and it wasn't just that they were too loud but the acoustics of theplaceare not the best for live music. it was very muddy, poorly mixed, and not at all enjoyable. in a better space with proper mixing where i could hear the vocal and lead guitar that band could have been good. i'll never know probably.....

very inconsistant!. we have been 3 times since thisplacehas opened. the bbq is always awesome but the service and sides have varied each time that we have gone. the 1st time we went, the service was great but the sides were horrible.the last time we were there was for dinner early on new years eve. theplacewas not busy, so i was confused as to why our servers kept changing and disappearing. i honestly dont know who are server was because we saw 4 different waitress'. my husband had to go find someone to refill our drinks and to pay the bill. the sides this time were really good though.we will be back for the bbq and hope for the best for everything else.

just left thisplacevery content. my girlfriend got the blackened catfish sandwich with sweet potato mash. i got the sloppy mojo with slaw. both dishes came out great and timely. our server, will, was also friendly and quick to catch refills without us asking. overall great food and good service!

whiskey and meat.... who could ask for more! mojo is a contender for best mac n cheese in jax. it was a surprise to me that a bbqplacewould have such excellent sides to accompany such fine bbq meats. the beef brisket was tender and oh so good. try the fried pickles. they have a light seasoned batter with thick cut slices so one can still taste the quality pickle. oh and drink up while you're there. i wish i could have the strawberry muddled whiskey tea in a six pack to take home, yummmmmmy!

fair, casual dining. i had texas sausages, black eyed peas and mashed potatoes. a goodplaceto sit with friends, not great though.

a winner. had lunch there on day #2. i'm a native of jacksonville but have lived in texas for a number of years. had the brisket platter for lunch. very moist, good flavor - nice smoke ring but could have been a little 'smokier' in taste - waiting for that amazing smoker to get 'seasoned'; good selection of sauces; slaw and fries were awesome; service was excellent! there needs to be a lunch menu. parking is an issue. thisplaceis a real winner!!

thisplaceis going to do well. the food was better than most, if not all bbq restaurants in the area. the bar was large with a wide variety of both bourbon and scotch whiskeys, and good beers, especially with bbq (shiner bock). i consider myself to be quite critical when it comes to authentic barbecue. been competing in bbq cookoffs for a few years now and recently our team won grand champion in haines city's ribs on the ridge tournament. mojo is as close to competition bbq as you will find in jacksonville in my opinion. they have the balls to serve brisket, and they do it well. enough said in my opinion.
