mojo no.4, urban bbq whiskey bar

oh yeah!!!. update - june 3, 2011
two of us returned on a whim, i got the brisket reuben, she got the grilled pimento cheese sandwich (i know, what the...). both were a-mazing! they make their own pimento cheese, and it was a homer (miracle whip is my guess at the "secret ingredient"). rebeun was stacked high and very tasty.

three of us went there opening day
the food: we split the sloppy mojo, the blfgc, and the shrimp and grits, after we wolfed down the rib tips (image knuckle between teeth, "oh my!"). while the s&gs were good to adequate, the other two rocked! as mojo #1 regulars, we branched out on our opening foray, hitting the new and odd stuff. they worked.

the portions: we took home about a meal and half, even after leaving some sides on the table.

the place: very cool, nice bar, and the smoker in the dining area is agreattouch. like the open porch dining, hope the weather holds!

cheer wine: in glass, with real cane sugar. makes your teeth hurt good.

we'll be back to try the "usual" and every thing else on the menu.

absolutely love the whiskey and bourbon selection here. the restaurant itself has agreatrelaxed vibe in a dimly lit dining room. fun place to go with friends before walking over to some of the bars down the street. menu items are simple and delicious.

burnt ends appetizer. what can i say that has not been said. wonderful delicious best burnt ends ever. falls apart with fork so tender no knife needed.greatwith the bbq sauce but not needed. so moist and juicy with just the right amount of burn to make it crispy but not dried out. next time i'm in jacksonville we will. definitely be back the staff are best i have seen in a very long time. if you go to or thru jacksonville find mojos and dig in .

stopped here on our way through town and so glad we did. it's in a super cute historic part of town with little shops and cafés. it was sunday evening so most were closed but would begreatto eat and do a little shopping. mojos #4 was modern and had quite a few hipsters but felt down-to-earth at the same time. lots of seating inside, including booths but it was freezing so we chose to eat outside. server was very friendly. everything we had was delicious and the servings were very generous. hubby loved the burnt ends. pulled pork wasgreatand could have shared one order with our 7 year old. very kid friendly with a kids menu and crayons and the kids meals come with ice cream as well. will defiantly be back!

fair foodgreatmusic. i have heard about this place for along time now. so tonight one of my favorite bands were playing here so why not. i got there and the place was packed and very loud. you weren't going to talk across the table tonight. i decided to try some of the bbq fair. i did the burnt ends and some rings. now the burnt end should be very tender being the point part of the brisket. you smoke the brisket cut off the point and chunk it up and throw it back into the smoke. well they didn't. i think they used the flat which is the less fatty part. it is not as tender and tends to dry out pretty quickly. the rings were pretty good and so was the dipping sauce. the breading was a little thick for me but then that's why they make chocolate ice cream. everyone don't like vanilla. the band rocked as they usually do. so in all i think i will return but it will probably be when the firewater tent revival is playing again.

best of the mojo chain. i like this place and like their sides. they do a better job here than the other mojo locations in the city. plus the place has agreatvibe.

a solid 7.5 or 8/10. jacksonville as a whole does not havegreatbbq. but mojo #4 is somewhere between 3-5th best.

great bbq and booze!. i love whiskey and i love meat. so you cant beat this combo.

burnt ends and hummus appetizers are both terrific. ive also had the onion rings which were good, as all homemade onion rings are typically. ive tried the majority of the smoked meats and they have all been good which the exception of the chicken which wasnt the best ive had. top sides are the mac, the collards and the dirty rice. ive also had a burger here which was wonderful. really enjoyed the ambiance here as well, we typically sit at the bar and all the guys really know their stuff. agreatbbq experience.

smoking butts. as simple as that. food isgreatbut some of the servers are definitely smoking something and it's not the meat! this has been apparent on more than one occasion. besides that everything i have had has been excellent! it is really loud inside though ;)

very inconsistant!. we have been 3 times since this place has opened. the bbq is always awesome but the service and sides have varied each time that we have gone. the 1st time we went, the service wasgreatbut the sides were horrible.the last time we were there was for dinner early on new years eve. the place was not busy, so i was confused as to why our servers kept changing and disappearing. i honestly dont know who are server was because we saw 4 different waitress'. my husband had to go find someone to refill our drinks and to pay the bill. the sides this time were really good though.we will be back for the bbq and hope for the best for everything else.

just left this place very content. my girlfriend got the blackened catfish sandwich with sweet potato mash. i got the sloppy mojo with slaw. both dishes came outgreatand timely. our server, will, was also friendly and quick to catch refills without us asking. overallgreatfood and good service!

mojos 4. first time was great, second time the food was dry and not cooked well. i had to request an order be sent back due to it being wrong today and the waiter rolled his eyes at me and then ignored our table. kind of bothered me as we were so polite about the mix up. music isgreatbut it was so loud tonight, i was yelling to communicate with my children. im for fun but not at the cost of hurting ears. disappointed tonight by how rude the waiter was and the quality of food. i hope they take into consideration these reviews as we need them to stay in business.

fair, casual dining. i had texas sausages, black eyed peas and mashed potatoes. a good place to sit with friends, notgreatthough.

me and my wife have eaten there 5 times since they have been open. we love it,greatservice awesome food.
