food was just meh! don't waste your time or money.. had read good reviews about mia's and wanted to try it. that was my first mistake. the food was just okay. actually, it was so bad i couldn't even finish it. but the prices weren't too high, and i thought that the meal was okay for the price, but i wouldn't return. there are so many other good tex-mex/mex restaurants in dallas that i didn't need to go back to a mediocre place. my second mistake was to hesitate just outside the front door while waiting for the valet to bring my car. unbelievably, my friend and i were deluged with water. we were both soaked head to toe. the valet started laughing at us. we were astonished. his english was not good, so we weren't sure where the water came from. it seemed as if it was a/c runoff. one thing for sure was that it had happened to other people before. the management, when told about this, said it was an accident. they offered no apology. they offered no complementary meal. they pretty much blamed us for standing there. i told them that they had lost a customer because of it. they didn't care. apparently, it happens there frequently. so if you go to this restaurant, please be aware that they are not customer friendly. they have allowed a consistent problem to persist, and on something that would be an easy fix. and their food is meh. so, my recommendation, skip mia's. you can get goodbriskettacos elsewhere. but if you do try it, be prepared to possibly be soaked with gross water if you stand outside of the door.

just had a near orgasmic experience with a taco! thebriskettaco at mia’s is a destination experience. everything about it is perfect. the meat is flavorful and tender, the tortillas are perfectly toasted and the peppers and onions perfectly sautéed. if you don’t stop here you then you are doing yourself a true disservice!

i discovered mia's over three decades ago, when it was first located in a small store front on lemmon avenue. the word spread, and the need for more tables brought the restaurant to the current location.

over the years, mia's family members and employees have started other restaurants, including, mi cocina's, taco diner, mesero's and manny's, but the catalyst for all these, is this colorful restaurant on lemmon avenue!

so many great dishes, including thebriskettacos, enchiladas and a number of specialties. but i decided that on a cold night, i needed my comfort dish, sunset chicken enchiladas, with ranchero beans.

when i want tex-mex, i return to one of the great spots in dallas! glenn almack

...and so i returned to mia's and discovered a new dish!   camarones a la diabla is one amazing dish, with some fire from the devil to make it interesting.  shrimp in 'chile de arbol' sauce, with sauteed vegetables and white rice.   definitely a spicy dish, but the vegetables and rice kept things anchored in this world.  glenn almack

we called ahead, and were told the wait is about 30 minutes. they were not doing reservations or "call aheads". all of the parking is valet parking. but the only cost is what you tip the valet. when we arrived they said the wait was 45 minutes, but if we wanted to sit outside, we could sit immediately. we chose that, as the weather was nice. the salsa and queso were great. i tried thebriskettacos, and they were very good. our daughter is a little picky - she ordered one of the enchiladas, but it wasn't quite the same as she's used to, so i swapped one of mybriskettacos, and she thought that was great. our server was very attentive. they do have both flour and corn tortillas available.

average at best. seems like food has gone downhill...had the roast beef tacos (menu said "brisket" tacos" )....no taste at all. chips and sauce always good, wife had very average enchiladas...after many years, we will be saying adios to mia's.
no mas..

good food, good atmosphere. wouldn't say it's the greatest mexican food around, but it is definitely worth trying. really good food, great atmosphere, good service and lots of "celebrity pictures" on the wall, which i guess is supposed to validate the reasons you are there. definitely a good time and well worth it. totally enjoyed the nachos and cold beer. tried their "skinny" margarita which was supposed to be made up of tequila, lime juice, and grand marnier. wrong. the waitress couldn't exactly describe what tasted so sweet in the drink, so we sent it back and had the beers instead. one of these days i'll order thebriskettacos. definitely recommend this place!

lukewarm reception. i have the same feeling towards mia's as the hostess, manager and waitress took towards our group- lukewarm

food: all ingredients, including the seafood, was fresh, the vegetables were crisp and the tortillas had a great buttery flavor. the draw back was the lack of seasoning. but i'm a fan of the chips and spicy salsa. thebriskettacos get a lot of hype too. and the prices are fairly decent for dinner with some great lunch times deals at around $5.

service: again, not the warmest reception, but more importantly, the server made a couple of mistakes, including an important dietary substitution.

atmosphere: typical mexican restaurant decor- sombreros pinned to the wall, 5 different paint colors, sticky vinyl floral tablecloths. the restaurant is relatively small but there's also a fairly large, enclosed patio with heaters.

reservations- yes. but all in your party must be present to be seated- even if the restaurant is half empty. however, unless you have a large party, a reservation is probably not needed. even at peak lunch hour there were open tables.

parking: small lot that fills up fast. there's a "complimentary" valet.

very very... very.... (very)... good.. this is definitely one of the better tex-mex joints in the metroplex. you can go ahead and scrap all the chains - none of them compares. mia's has outstanding enchiladas, fajitas, andbriskettacos, etc. while the flavors may not be a big departure from your typical tex-mex, there is a quality to the food that puts it ahead of the rest. the only other comparable place that comes to mind is fernando's on northwest hwy.

if you want authentic mexican, go to a good taco truck. if you want mexican-fusion, go... uhhh... wherever the yuppies go. if you want solid, reliable tex-mex, go to mia's!!!

get thebriskettacos! you will not be disappointed. the salsa was delicious as well and the chips were fresh. i am certain they make their chips and tortillas fresh everyday. the tortilla soup was fantastic. the service was quick and the prices were great. this is not a fancy place. nothing to say about the decor but if you like food and could care less about the decor like myself then this is the place for you. please do not confuse a lackluster decor for being dirty. the restaurant was clean as were the bathrooms. the only thing i would change about my visit was if i would have been able to sit on the patio but it was too cold.
