incredible! one of the finest meals i have ever had in louisville. diverse menu with not a single miss. will aim to return everytimei am back in town.

great service! we did not have reservations on a friday evening and was seated within 20 minutes. but i would definitely recommend reservations because it is a small dining area and you're wait would be longer. the waiter was very knowledgable and gave great recommendations. the guacamole was perfect! i ordered the salmon that came with their famous lima beans. they were good but i'll definitely try something else nexttimei go!

i like it but....service and food are everything. and they failed miserably today.....service was terrible from server to busser to hostess... we had 1:00 pm reservation, received food at 2:00 p.m. apps were good but slow and too muchtimein between. i ordered med well mayan burger that was presented blood red including the bun, server presented the wrong drink, no one spoke to us or made eye contact to any of us....we were seated directly in front of stations and had to ask for refills, help with the food and the check-- no offer of the desserts, let alone any special preps for the day.. i had invited foodies from cleveland, oh and was very embarressed by the experience. the mayan stew needed salt which we couldn't find a server/hostess/busser/anybody to bring the other items lacked something but better service would have changed the experience. the place, at late lunchtimeis very loud (they were busy, good for them!) but they not only missed the marks -- we will not visit again soon.

vday meal. my boyfriend and i went here for valentine's day meal. we always celebrate vday the day before the actual holiday to avoid crowds. anyway, i had the salmon and he had the chicken with a side of fried cactus, which was excellent! that was my firsttimehaving it. this was our firsttimegoing and we had a great time. they make nice strong cocktails as well. this place is slightly pricy and small, but the food, drink, and service was excellent. i would definitely recommend it.

seriously amazing! went there tonight for valentines day and was amazed by how great the food was! also the service was too notch! such a greattimefor a special day.

one of my favorite restaurants. this is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. their dishes with mole are always amazing! actually, everything i've tried--whether it's meat or vegetarian--is always delicious. lasttimei went, my husband ordered an appetizer with goat and an entree with rabbit. i usually stay away from unusual meats, but i took a few bites from his dishes and was totally blown away! the chef is an extremely talented cook who knows how to cook and spice everything perfectly. i also love that he uses local ingredients. it's pricey but well worth it!

service and menu is top notch!. my experiences at this place have been so pleasant; not just because the food is so impeccably amazing, but because the staff here are so thoughtful and generous.
the burger is out of this world and the guacamole is something tasty!
i tried their cocktails for the firsttimethe other night and was not surprised by their greatness....

make sure to call for a reservation- this place is kind of big deal and it has a small, intimate layout. the venue may be small, but it has a lot to offer; which makes it louisville's best kept secret.

some of the best food & service. so, i know that i've reviewed this place before. however, i've eaten at mayan a number of times since that review, and everytimei can't help but think that my original review didn't do this restaurant justice. everytimewe eat here we get a fantastic meal served to us by some of the best staff in the city. they really know how to be there when you need a drink and make sure you enjoy your meal, without being all over you. our last visit was a lucky break at getting in on a walk in. they didn't even blink, just worked the tables and ~15 minutes later we are happily sitting at one of our favorite tables in the city. a must try!

well worth the money. sure you can walk out having dropped a lot of cash here, but you aren't going to leave disappointed. it's not often that i have a meal as pleasing as i get from mayan cafe. their food is art but has the tastes and smells to take you away to central america, if only until you walk back out onto market st. a wonderful place for a date.

service. i had dinner at mayan cafe last night. the ambiance was nice and the food was good (although a bit under seasoned). but i was mostly annoyed by the over ambitious water boy, who kept refilling our water everytimei took a sip. he kept checking on us and nervously bounced back and forth past our table. i like attentive staff, but there should be a balance and the diner should be able to be left alone to enjoy the food and company.
