not the best well i wouldnt even say a word. food wasn't fresh or delightful. service was garbage, have a lot more to improve if therestaurantwants more clients to check it out. would never suggest to someone i know. south indian is just the name for the cuisine could never feel the taste of south indian food here.

we are new to alberta, live in red deer. i went with my mother last week to this restaurant. it's relatively small, but if you want to taste the real kerala style dish, its the right place. we had buffet. the owner / person at counter was very nice and friendly. he gives attention to each and every guest. really its worth. i have a suggestion to the owner. it would be helpful for some one who prefer not to eat non-veg to have the name of the dishes displayed. i'm not sure some one here commented about a rude owner. may be some one who owned thisrestaurantbefore. for us, who ever at the counter owner or manager, the person was very friendly and caring. also the staff was very helpful and pleasing.

best pau bhaji ever. i came here from india about 6 years ago, going back only once. and god knows how much i missed the food there, especially the pau bhaji. i have been trying since to find an authentic pau bhaji sellingrestaurantin edmonton. yesterday i stumbled on masalaz and crossed my fingers that i would find good pau bhaji there. i had tried 2 other restaurants before (the only ones i could find selling this dish and that also on the weekends). and oh my god, it was the best pau bhaji in the whole city (and quite reasonably priced for a student like me). i definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to try this dish because after so much search, i can promise this is the best one you will find in the city!

masalaz. i lived next to thisrestaurantfor over a year before dicovering its delicious eats. it is a family run eatery with friendly atmosphere. there chicken bryani is totally delicous and very reasonbly priced. it is spicy and full of flavour just wonderful. i highly reccomend the somosa's with the tamirind sauce excellent. they have a buffet most nights of the week for a great price. like 12 to 14 dollars a person. a hidden gem in culinary gastronomics.

worst experience. we went to enjoy southindian food, but ended up seeing a ruderestaurantowner who overcharged us, hostile servers, stale food, and over all a very unfriendly environment. to make the matter worse, my family fell sick after eating the slate food.
i would not recommend thisrestauranteven to my enemy.

great food, great price!!. out of the limited selection of south indian food in edmonton this is the best and my favorite. it's a nice sized family runrestaurantand has had some recent remodeling done to it. the service is always friendly and quick which makes it great for a quick stop for lunch. the last time i went was on a friday night and i decided to try the buffet. they had plenty of options and everything was quite tasty. they make the dosas to order so they're fresh, crisp and hot. they also had two types of vada, idli, sambar, chutneys, fried rice, vegetable dish, and other appetizers. i finished my meal off with their delicious gulab jamun and was quite happy with the price as well. this jem is a great place to try and you definitely get your money's worth. check it out!!
