not the best well i wouldnt even say a word. food wasn't fresh or delightful. service was garbage, have a lot more to improve if the restaurant wants more clients to check it out. would never suggest to someone i know. south indian is just the name for the cuisine could never feel the taste of south indian food here.

good cheap food, but the older fellow is too rude!. we have been there a few times..the food is pretty good. especially the dosa, vada, idli etc. the buffet is nothing spectacular...it looks like the food has been sitting there for some time. the younger guy is really good, but his dad (?) is very rude, overcharges and treats the serving staff bad! overall good food, but not a comfortable s

reasonibly priced and good food!. we love this restaurant! really great food and good value. better for sit-down than take-out. some of the best indian in edmonton.

masalaz is another hidden gem. it probably seems like i say that all the time but seriously, it falls into the “gem” category perfectly. hidden behind a mcdonald’s, i’m not sure how you would even spot it if you don’t know about it. heck, jboi drives past it everyday and he says he’s never noticed it.

we stopped over for lunch on our way from grand prairie to saskatoon and it blew my mind. the food was delicious and service was surprisingly quick for indian food (indian food takes a lot of prep time, generally!). my girlfriend and i loved their food and we shall definitely recommend this place to our friends in edmonton.

as a student, what origonally attracted me to go across the city to this lovely east indian place was the amazing prices - that and i am also visiting india soon. the owner matthew remembers me every time i go in. i dine alone, but i never feel awkward or anything. matthew makes good suggestions on what to try as i like trying something new often. as a student i feel at home and i can afford it, without sacrificing taste! there have been some negative reviews, but something has clearly changed for the better or else there is new owners. my favourite thing on the menu are the dosas.

great place!  food is authentic and delicious and you don't feel overly stuffed when you're finished.  the prices are better than reasonable and the staff are friendly.  definitely my go to lunch spot!

food wasn't upto the mark specially samber didnt taste the way it should taste. only one helper was managing all the guests.he did a good job but unfortunately we were not impressed by the food neither the ambience

we are new to alberta, live in red deer. i went with my mother last week to this restaurant. it's relatively small, but if you want to taste the real kerala style dish, its the right place. we had buffet. the owner / person at counter was very nice and friendly. he gives attention to each and every guest. really its worth. i have a suggestion to the owner. it would be helpful for some one who prefer not to eat non-veg to have the name of the dishes displayed. i'm not sure some one here commented about a rude owner. may be some one who owned this restaurant before. for us, who ever at the counter owner or manager, the person was very friendly and caring. also the staff was very helpful and pleasing.

good fresh food friendly service.. the owner a young man very friendly. they bring u things fresh. especially in their buffet. the quality, flavor and price u cannot beat. great service and again amazing food tastes more authentic than anywhere else we have been. hands down a must try and you will enjoy.

kerala style gem. on a tip from a work acquaintance, we discovered masalaz last night, and immediately enjoyed the family ambience of the small strip-mall restaurant. more of a neighbourhood cafe, we were quite impressed with the range of prepared-on-site dishes. friendly staff were ready to knowledgeably discuss and recommend dishes to fit our dietary requirements: gluten-free and vegan. we each had the buffet - selecting platefuls of delightfully spicy dishes, rice and condiments; concluded the meal with an interesting masala (potato and onion) dosa. inexpensive and and good value. highly recommended.

best pau bhaji ever. i came here from india about 6 years ago, going back only once. and god knows how much i missed the food there, especially the pau bhaji. i have been trying since to find an authentic pau bhaji selling restaurant in edmonton. yesterday i stumbled on masalaz and crossed my fingers that i would find good pau bhaji there. i had tried 2 other restaurants before (the only ones i could find selling this dish and that also on the weekends). and oh my god, it was the best pau bhaji in the whole city (and quite reasonably priced for a student like me). i definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to try this dish because after so much search, i can promise this is the best one you will find in the city!

masalazzzz. i have been to masalaz for the past seven months. this is the one and only place in edmonton where we can find kinda authentic south indian keralite style blended with tamil style foods. all veggie and non veg items here are good and cheaper. who will give unlimited dosa, parotta, biryani, chicken, fish curry for 13$ in edmonton that too fresh food???? i strongly suggest masalaz is the best place to have lunch or dinner especially on weekends. dont miss beef oliyathu with parotta over there
