been to lucky’s a few times. always a pleasant vibey experience with good food and service. perfect spot for a fewdrinksand dinner after a hectic day @ work.

after numerous visits and holding back on a proper review - probably waiting for a miracle - i have decided to cast my vote and admit that this is not my kind of watering hole.  the restaurant is always packed (which is probably a good thing), and the waiting staff are always running around withdrinksin hand (which is probably a good thing)...but the student-nightlife-vibe is not something i want to run into when going out fordrinksafter work.  the eccentric plants outside and the buzz makes for a comfortable atmosphere, but the meals have been average, and even more so the service - management is no-shows and everyone is squeezing past each other to get to the ill-maintained bathrooms.  let's leave it at a "student jol" and rate it for what it is.  great job at providing the students with an alternative to the far-gone days of hatfield square.

an absolute gem with service to match. must admit i go very often and the service i get is amazing. it can get very full and a newbie to this venue might not get the same service. this place has an interesting charm to it. menu is small but great. makes it easy to make a decision. if you want they go the extra mile and you can order from the menu next door which is fantastic. prices are very reasonable and value for money.drinksare also not overpriced and for me this is the best value for money venue in pretoria. it's down to earth and trendy. i'm basing my rating more on a pub like experience so please keep that in mind. if you looking for fine dining this is not the place.

we actually stopped by lucky rodrigo for a drink while we waited for another restaurant in the area to open for lunch.  was really pleasantly surprised!  a comfortable, laid back vibe, lovely decor, not too hecticly busy (lunch), the food anddrinksare very affordable.  so we stayed a bit longer to share a 'starter'.... and then we stayed for lunch!  the service was a little slow, but we will definitely be back, thank you!

not the place to go for a sit down dinner, however definitely has a great vibe fordrinkswith friends! good music, cute setting and overall a fun place! food is predominantly pub type meals, which can be forgiven after a few shots ;)

a beautiful hidden spot in pretoria. perfect place fordrinksduring the day or at night! they offer a menu with incredible food and an artisan variety of drinks

i have never been here to eat before but def a great place to havedrinkswith friends and have a good night! next time i will have the try some food ;)

we went there on friday (20150424) afternoon after work, just after 16:00, got a table for 6 people and had a great time! until about 18:00 when we were informed that our table has been booked and we needed to leave by 19:00! we decided to stay as surely this must be a joke, the table wasn't booked when we sat down. at 19:00 the manager desmond informed us that we must either leave or he'll give us another (small table table for 3 people) out in the rain!!!

when i confronted desmond and asked him how they can book a table out underneath people sitting (and spending a lot of money too) there, he simply replied that he's sorry and he'll give us another table. when i asked him where the rest of our friends must sit as the new table only has 3 chairs, he said they can stand by the bar. 

to be honest, the food is ok, a little on the expensive side for what you get, service is slow unless you buy from the bar anddrinksisn't cheap either. its acceptable as the place is close to work, but the fact that you allow people to book an occupied table and make those people move shows that you don't care about customer service. what angers me more, is the fact that when i wanted to book a table last year, i was told you don't take bookings...

the place for the pretoria hipster crowd, lucky's is a quirky retro bar with an all round great vibe. go here for after workdrinksand stay to grab one of their famous burgers or corn dogs. they veggie burger is sweet too. good spot for a pre-party dop or to chill out with mates. drinkswise they have a decent selection of craft beer, however if wine is your thing then don't expect more than your own little box of robertson's. i like that they have booths - very retro american. it's buzzing most evenings so get there early rather than later to ensure you get a table.
