los cabos -- fair. i was eager to try a mexicanrestaurant-- one of my favorite cuisines -- in my own neighborhood, so last night three of us headed for los cabos. we found a very extensive menu, though it was rather light on innovative vegetarian faire. it had reasonable prices and enthusiastic staff. the lack of a/c meant that it was hot as we waited for our food, but the intriguing pictures of revolutionaries on the walls gave us something to discuss, as we anticipated a yummy dinner. well, it wasn't yummy. my cheese enchiladas were cold in the middle, the enchilada sauce tasted as if it came straight out of a can, the cheese was plain old cheddar, i believe, not the more authentic queso fresco i had been hoping for, and the beans were awful. the portion size was ok, and a friend's chimichanga was deemed acceptable, although not fantastic. i wish i would have found the food more palatable, because therestaurantis cute, a much needed addition to the neighborhood, and the employees are so friendly and efficient. nevertheless, i doubt we'll go back to this place again.
