california surfer burrito. i went when therestaurantwas empty one saturday night and ordered the california surfer burrito with shrimp and fries. it was wonderful. it was as delicious as a burrito from chipotle but far more interesting. the service was super friendly (it's really a counter service restaurant) and the atmosphere was nice. i really want another california surfer soon!

great taste, could use some more veggetarian options. los cabos was a welcome addition to not only the east end, but pittsburgh in general. bloomfield is definitely lacking in quick, cheap, tasty variety and this fills an enormous void. been here a few times now, and have been consistently impressed with the quality, taste and portions. i have to say, i wish they catered to vegetarians a bit more. considering the execution on the few things that i've had, it's left me craving for more choices. given that it's really easy to have veggie mexican food, and going to a mexicanrestaurantis usually a sure veggie score, this should be an easy fix.

thanks for opening up in pittsburgh!

los cabos -- fair. i was eager to try a mexicanrestaurant-- one of my favorite cuisines -- in my own neighborhood, so last night three of us headed for los cabos. we found a very extensive menu, though it was rather light on innovative vegetarian faire. it had reasonable prices and enthusiastic staff. the lack of a/c meant that it was hot as we waited for our food, but the intriguing pictures of revolutionaries on the walls gave us something to discuss, as we anticipated a yummy dinner. well, it wasn't yummy. my cheese enchiladas were cold in the middle, the enchilada sauce tasted as if it came straight out of a can, the cheese was plain old cheddar, i believe, not the more authentic queso fresco i had been hoping for, and the beans were awful. the portion size was ok, and a friend's chimichanga was deemed acceptable, although not fantastic. i wish i would have found the food more palatable, because therestaurantis cute, a much needed addition to the neighborhood, and the employees are so friendly and efficient. nevertheless, i doubt we'll go back to this place again.

yum. couldn'twait for this place to open. my husband and i love mexican food. but good mexican is hard to find in pittsburgh. the portions are big and the price is right. haven't been dissappointed in anything i have eaten here. but my favorite so far is the shrimp quesadilla. only downfall is i love margaritas too. no booze here. hopefully they'll get a liquor licence soon.

pretty good burrito. i was excited to try this place. i went around lunch time (1:30) and it was packed, so i decided to come back later when things had quieted down. the staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was pretty good. i had a pollo asado burrito and it was tasty and filling. the chips were nothing special, but the salsa was delicious and tasted very fresh. i decided to order a taco too, but it wasn't as good as the burrito, and fell apart in my hands (it would have been better if it had two soft corn shells instead of one. also, some cold slaw and some sliced limes would have been a nice touch.)

some things that could make this place a little better:
it seems like this place can't decide if it wants to be a sitdownrestaurantor a taqueria. i wish the prices were slightly lower, the portions slightly bigger, and that everything was done more like in a taqueria. they use plastic silverware, styrofoam plates, and styrofoam to-go containers which seems wasteful. i like my mexican food fast and cheap, and if i could order burritos and tacos here and just get them wrapped in paper and foil (taqueria style) i'd be set. i like it when taqueria's use those reusable plastic baskets with paper in then. and if you must have to-go containers, please make them paper! i'm guessing these sorts of changes would save them a lot of money as well. maybe they'll give it a try? i don't think bloomfield really needs another sitdown restaurant, but we could sure use a great to-go taqueria.

in any case, the food i ate had some good flavors going on, and the people working there seemed great--i hope they do well and that they stick around. i'm going back in a few weeks after they've been open a little while longer--who knows. maybe by then i'll be able to get a wrapped up burrito to-go???
