pretty good burrito. i was excited to try this place. i went around lunch time (1:30) and it was packed, so i decided to come back later when things had quieted down. the staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was pretty good. i had a pollo asado burrito and it was tasty and filling. the chips were nothing special, but the salsa was delicious and tasted very fresh. i decided to order a taco too, but it wasn't as good as the burrito, and fell apart in my hands (it would have been better if it had two soft corn shells instead of one. also, some cold slaw and some sliced limes would have been a nice touch.)
some things that could make this place a little better:
it seems like this place can't decide if it wants to be a sitdown restaurant or a taqueria. i wish the prices were slightly lower, the portions slightly bigger, and that everything was done more like in a taqueria. they use plastic silverware, styrofoam plates, and styrofoam to-go containers which seems wasteful. i like my mexican food fast and cheap, and if i could order burritos and tacos here and just get them wrapped in paper and foil (taqueria style) i'd be set. i like it when taqueria's use those reusable plastic baskets with paper in then. and if you must have to-go containers, please make them paper! i'm guessing these sorts of changes would save them a lot of money as well. maybe they'll give it a try? i don't think bloomfield really needs another sitdown restaurant, but we could sure use a great to-go taqueria.
in any case, the food i ate had some good flavors going on, and the people working there seemed great--i hope they do well and that they stick around. i'm going back in a few weeks after they've been open a little while longer--who knows. maybe by then i'll be able to get a wrapped up burrito to-go???
