best carnitas burrito in the 'burgh. like a true mexican burrito, their burritos are stuffed with tender meat, not rice and beans. get some fresh guacamole and tortilla chips on the side.

steer clear from the pollo asado. i heard from a friend that this is the place for mexican in pittsburgh. i really like mexican food, and was excited to try los cabos. maybe my expectations were too high. first, my chips were stale, and i asked the waitress to bring me different ones, but the next batch was the same... stale and chewy. it also took forever to get my food, since the place was busy for lunch. i ordered the pollo asado quesadilla, and it was disgusting. the meat was dry and flavorless, and there were even some burnt parts that were impossible to bite into. the tortilla was burnt, and there was not enough cheese. the pico de gallo was runny, but pretty tasty, and the guac was brown and runny. i told my friend about my experience, and she said to try the fish tacos or a vegetarian item. my advise? stay far far away from the pollo asado.

true socal mexican!. finally a place that actually tastes like baja mexican food! being born and raised in ca, i love good mexican food, but after moving here 2 years ago have been very disappointed in the heavy, bland tex mex offered here. the salsa has a kick, chips are freshly made, tortillas are soft and delicious, and the carne asada burrito had a great balance of guacamole, meat and pico de gallo. will definitely go there again!

first time=mediocre but would try again. i was not too impressed with my food. i ordered the carnitas burrito. the tortilla was hardened and difficult to cut through. the pork was very dry and contained some clumps of fat. there was also hardly any pico de gallo or guacamole on the burrito, though i did like the flavor of both.

i would go back (i think it's worth another try or two), but i would not order the carnitas burrito again. i'd probably try out some of the tacos, as a friend who ordered them was happy with her meal.

i would also avoid the steak meal, as the meat was extremely tough, and my friend was not able to cut (or even bite through) it.

true southern california fare. to the guy who says "why is my taco lost in the lettuce" -- that's how it's done, baby! go to san diego and it's exactly the same. it's not about a meaty cheesy goop, it's about healthy living !

chile relleno, a nice low-cal dish, cheap too.

tasty and well presented. shrimp cocktail with the spice is great to sip on a hot summer day.

i want to start by saying i've had mexican food in mexico, california and arizona. and of course various crap in other states. i love everything about this place. joel and audi are so nice and welcoming. the food we had was absolutely delicious. the salsa was one of the best i've had - it actually had some heat and a nice balance of flavors. i do not like the typical refried beans accompanying most mexican cuisine but again, they actually had flavor and the perfect texture. even the rice was better than average! i mean, it's kinda hard to drastically mess up rice so it's usually passable but their rice is delicious. finally, in response to the person who had the cheese enchilada the day after i did - sorry yours was disappointing! mine was perfectly cooked and didn't taste "canny" at all. also, the chicken taco i got was so amazing. i loved the fresh, crumbly shell. sure it fell apart easier than the box kind but it was so good, i just used my fork to eat the rest. lastly, they now use "real silverware", which was a silly comment to make after they first opened. byob still - but those make for the best places anyway.

los cabos -- fair. i was eager to try a mexican restaurant -- one of my favorite cuisines -- in my own neighborhood, so last night three of us headed for los cabos. we found a very extensive menu, though it was rather light on innovative vegetarian faire. it had reasonable prices and enthusiastic staff. the lack of a/c meant that it was hot as we waited for our food, but the intriguing pictures of revolutionaries on the walls gave us something to discuss, as we anticipated a yummy dinner. well, it wasn't yummy. my cheese enchiladas were cold in the middle, the enchilada sauce tasted as if it came straight out of a can, the cheese was plain old cheddar, i believe, not the more authentic queso fresco i had been hoping for, and the beans were awful. the portion size was ok, and a friend's chimichanga was deemed acceptable, although not fantastic. i wish i would have found the food more palatable, because the restaurant is cute, a much needed addition to the neighborhood, and the employees are so friendly and efficient. nevertheless, i doubt we'll go back to this place again.

i've only been here once so i'll revise this after i go back. ordered 2 carne asada hard tacos and refried beans. no steak but shredded beef w/o much flavor and the beef seemed to be of average quality. the corn tortillas weren't that great (reyna's wins hands down with their daily made ones). refried beans were very average. i didn't finish mine and helped a friend work on his nachos which were good. another friend was given a sample of flan and she said it was pretty bad. i think the problem with this place is/will be people who want a place who uses higher quality ingredients.

also when i see # 10 cans of standard brand tomatoes in the summer it's a bad sign for me. not impressed.
