awesome customer service! the staff were bubbly energetic and friendly! had lamb shanks and its cooked perfectly! and im not a lamb eater! lonestar is a very casual place with high end pricing, the ambiance and cleanliness of the place is well worth the price you pay for for the good quality of food you get. i guess what im saying is that lonestar isnt a sophisticated themed restaurant, but with saying that, the food is quality! awesome for a casual dine out if u had a but of extra. great experience!

we went to lone star on 2nd jan. it was pretty quite and therefore expected good food and quick service. the entree was ogood to start with, just the fries being a bit too thick.. we ordered the mains and there was overload of cheese. nothing seemed fresh. my mom had visited lonestar rototuna before and therefore we went again to have a meal with the family, but it was disappointing. the classic chicken meal we looked good, but tasted aweful. the chicken was not fresh, the veges in burritto and nachos were not fresh either. for the desert i orderd a banoffe pie which was so hard to break even with the knife and spoon which was provided. dont know why but the shortbread pastry was the disaapointing bit. the quantity vs. price was ok.. but the taste was not worth it!! :(

amazing! from start to finish the service was excellent, friendly, genuine and helpful with menu decisions. the meals were delicious. would recommend eating here.

went there for the first time and it was crowded and busy on a saturday night. had a free starter of salt & pepper squid from its grabameal daily offers and it was good. overall the meals we had are excellent with generous portion and good presentation. staff were friendly and helpful and the ambience was casual and relaxing so i will definitely go back for the second visit.

dinner for four last sunday evening.  first impressions good.  greeted nicely and efficiently at the door.

this is a new building and it is decked out really well inside.  nice and interesting with good layout and features.  big bar.  it was acoustically a bit loud but not too bad.

staff were well trained and looked like they wanted to be there!  our waitress was pleasant and efficient, but spoke way too fast for us to understand the specials.  :)

food was excellent and well prepared.  good sizes and reasonable prices.  can't really go wrong if this type of food is your thing.

amazing staff and amazing food! new restaurant with nice scenery and atmosphere, child friendly and couples friendly. our food was out quickly and we had great service. our drinks were perfect and our waitress was so lovely and made our experience very memorable. we will definitely be back soon!

hubby and i went for dinner last night, first time visit to lone star in napier (been to other lone stars in other parts of the country) great layout of the venue and no prob with the service.
had a bit of a mishap with one of our meals but was dealt with well by the staff so thumbs up for that. generous meal size even for the med size so wont go home hungry.

visited lone star napier recently to celebrate a friend's birthday. my friend phoned ahead of time to make a reservation but was told they did not take reservations. when we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation????? we were a party of four adults. i knew as soon as my plate of food was placed in front of me that i was not going to eat it. kitchen staff need upskilling in presentation of food - particularly mains as i could not really fault the dessert which was offered free in place of the main that i did not eat. another member of our party was also disappointed in his meal and ate very little.

first impressions do count - especially with food. we do eat with our eyes in the first instance.

i don't mid paying good money for good food but quite frankly i felt that your prices were very high (around $30 for a main) and i expect a lot more than what you had to offer for that price. i enjoy eating out, but our night out at the lone star, napier was definitely not enjoyable.

our family group of five, plus three children, dined in january and found the napier lone star to be great .the venue was unique, parking easy, the service spot on ,the meal serve times perfect and the food absolutely superb. meal sizes were very generous. the kids were entertained and we all left happy, sure to return again. the "lassoo of hog and the redneck ribs ,"wow, fantastic.

service ok. had the dixie chicken, it was obviously microwaved. nothing too bad we had to send back though.
coleslaw tasteless.

bad service, bad food, and a long wait. the waitress didn't give us any water, when we asked for some it still didn't turn up. we then ordered some drinks, the first drink (a beer) came within 10 minutes, the other 3 (1 wine, 1 beer, and an oj) took another 20 minutes. when the beer was delivered, we asked for a glass, and received a nasty look from the bar lady for wasting her time. our entree was good, but we ran out of room on the table so had to clear it ourselves. when the mains finally arrived (40 mins, and another 30 minute wait on drinks), the rare steak was blue, the medium was rare, and the potatoes where burnt. after the massive wait we decided not to ask for it to be redone, but when the waitress was told about it she said it was her fault (??), and she could put it back on the grill. the maitre de wasn't very apologetic about it all, and made it sound like it was our fault.
all up, bad service, bad food and a long wait.

we have been to the lonestar 4 or 5 times although we mustve been mad to go there the last time. one night we had to wait about 40 mins to be seated then another 30 to get our mains brought out - and then the steaks were stone cold! we asked for new ones but i suspect they mightve just microwaved them because the replacements came out pretty quickly. the wedges were burnt to a crisp and soggy as well. horrible. the next time we went (why i dont know) we took guests from overseas and the whole experience was virtually repeated. the ribs were tasteless, we were crammed in so tightly you couldnt move, and the list goes on. needless to say it was the last straw. yes, the meals are big but they are also way overpriced and you can end up spending a small fortune. never again.

i love visiting lone star, they are always packed so wait times can be a little bit (for me usually between 20-40minutes) but it has never bothered me as the atmoshpere and lovely service always makes the night fly. food is wonderful i have never had a bad/bland or dissapointing anything from there and they do a wicked slushy cocktail that is only 4.50!!!
meals are huge! have only been able to make it to dessert 1nce but i intend to go just for dessert one time soon. it is one of my most favorite restaurants in napier. love it!

we had a large group - but felt hemmed into a corner hard up against the window with the heater beating down on us , during different parts of the evening felt apprehensive to push my seat back least i fall through the window,the style of chair and the wood floor lent itself to a slippery combination. getting out for nature calls was a chore as the evening progressed because of table proximity to other eating patrons
tables were squeeze into any spare floor space which made for difficult maneuvering especially with two young children under 5.
i put my meal disappointment down to choice , but four others at our table must of also suffered with bad meal choice. the meals were large but tasteless and very costly. thankfully i wasn't paying the bill - but in total the amount of $ 450.00 $ 550.00 would of been spent.
not inclined to recommend , but by all accounts it appeared to be popular by the amount of people squeezed in.
out waitress was nice , very accommodating when any request put to her.
