after most of our group registered for the hawkes bay half marathon and 10k, our focus turned to dinner so we crossed marine parade and found ourselves here. seated straight away we ordered a few drinks to tide us over until we figured out what mains to order. pretty much went with the classics - johnny cash stashes, ribs, steak, nachos and a burrito. judging by the empty plates soon after i'm guessing everyone was happy with their choices. did notice that the coleslaw they served was dressed better than the last time i'd eaten at a lone star so nice work there. front of house and theserviceteam were friendly and working well so all in all a good night out.

this is how a lonestar should be.  good food, goodservicenice environment. with lots of seating.

the portions are generous and lots to choose from.

very, very goodservicefrom our server called lucy.
the red-neck ribs are to die for and the 9 piece portion is huge.
ended the meal with a jack daniels chocolate mudslide that is the best i have tasted in my 46 years on earth 😁
this place is really busy on a friday night and now i understand why.

i’ve been here about 4 times in the last 5 months and every time i’ve been there it’s been busy. it says a lot about the place when there’s always plenty of customers. theserviceis great as well as the food. the only down side has been the quality of my favourite dish - the pork ribs. 2/4 times the ribs were a bit tough and were quite chewy. i suspect that if you get there early then you will get served the first batch of ribs which are not quite tender and falling off the bone yet. other than that everything is as good as the other lonestar restaurants i’ve been to.

come here often, a great drink selection with the traditional margarita being my favourite! food is always consistent andserviceis friendly and attentive, will always come back :) is pricey but worth the extra,

family-friendly, greatserviceand good food. great place to catch up with family and friends. the short stack redneck ribs was juicy and tender, you can never go wrong when you try it. finished off with the longhorn cheesecake to complete a great meal.

massive portions and great family friendly atmosphere. great if you are looking for a nice place to have a steak. very quickservicewith friendly waitstaff!! would recommend for a family friendly night

we went out for date night here and i really enjoyed it the ambience was nice....the food was delicious we shared ribs for an entrée they were really good.....i had crispy skin duck which was very tasty and my husband had lamb shanks which he thought were a tad small but still good.servicewas friendly and prompt overall good night out.

good quickservicebut portions (aside from the ample coleslaw) were rather lacking. medium steak was closer to well done and a tiny smear of the red wine jus just wasn't enough.

this lonestar is amazing! the food is always delicious and the portions are big. theserviceis pleasant and the setting/theme is stunning and consistent. i highly recommend this to anyone who wants a 'hearty feed'. the only downsides i've found is the price, as the main meals are expensive, and the wait time (on average the wait time is usually 30-40 mins, but can be much longer depending on the night).

amazing! from start to finish theservicewas excellent, friendly, genuine and helpful with menu decisions. the meals were delicious. would recommend eating here.

our family group of five, plus three children, dined in january and found the napier lone star to be great .the venue was unique, parking easy, theservicespot on ,the meal serve times perfect and the food absolutely superb. meal sizes were very generous. the kids were entertained and we all left happy, sure to return again. the "lassoo of hog and the redneck ribs ,"wow, fantastic.

i love visiting lone star, they are always packed so wait times can be a little bit (for me usually between 20-40minutes) but it has never bothered me as the atmoshpere and lovelyservicealways makes the night fly. food is wonderful i have never had a bad/bland or dissapointing anything from there and they do a wicked slushy cocktail that is only 4.50!!!
meals are huge! have only been able to make it to dessert 1nce but i intend to go just for dessert one time soon. it is one of my most favorite restaurants in napier. love it!

with 3 young boys all under the age of 6 this restaurant proved to be perfect. we ordered early for the boys, miles to choose from and when my youngest son dropped his drink we were 'rewarded'with a free t-shirt as he was a little upset, fabulous! the meals came out in great time, greatserviceand upon leaving (after eating our free jellybeans) the boys were given a free rugby ball which they thought was great!

went for dinner and was not impressed.
1.phoned ahead to reserve a table for 5!
(response was; i'm sorry we don't do reservations)yeah right!
2.arrived and told there would be a half hour wait,and were asked if we had a reservation??
3.had to wait 15 minutes at bar to be served
(as only 1 member of staff on bar)
4.overall waited 20 minutes before we were seated for dinner.
5.then waited for 40 minutes for our mains,while being asked several times by waitresses if we would like more drinks!
6.the meal (the johnny cash stash) was burnt on the outside & the mushroom filling was bland!
this was my second visit, and to be honest, the food &servicewas 200% better the night that they opened.
thumbs down to lone star, on this occasion i was highly disappointed!
