this was nothing special. we lived in las cruces and santa fe and texas for years, and i do not understand all the glowing reviews here. read the neutral and negative reviews first, much more accurate. i get bettertacosat del taco. they cover up indifference with cilantro and onion, there is no imagination to the food and it is kind of flat. we had three different dishes, a burrito, some tacos, a tamale that was actually quite disgusting. the guacamole is more like green goddess, or they totally screwed it up. 

save yourself some trouble, don't go, we will not be back.

great mexican food!. chili verde burritos are crazy good. also the fishtacosare great and carne asada is great as well. since eating cafe rio, i compare every mexican place to it. it just might be better...;)

hands down best fishtacosand tamales i ever did try. great service. food was served fast. clean restaurant, great atmosphere. fresh, delicious. the chips and salsa were amazingggggggg

good, but definitely over-hyped. i really wanted to like the fish tacos, but both times i've visited they have been just north of bland. the carne asadatacoswere much more flavorful, but any taco cart in the downtown area will beat the taste for half the price. perhaps it is because the only mexican places in the area are of the taco-bell variety, but i really can't understand what all the fuss is about.

yumbo in my tumbo!. have loved this place ever since it was mentioned in sunset magazine years and years ago. it was also featured on the food network show "diners, drive-ins and dives". they make absolutely delicious fish tacos!!! they do othertacostoo as well as burritos, quesadillas, tamales, nachos and salads. you can also get a cerveza here too :). the place is small and parking is limited but you've got to give this a try. they have a drive-thru so you can always get it to go. don't go on sunday though. everyone needs a break from the grind.

hooray! taco-standtacosin a junkyard! what could be more appealing?

well, here is my list:

more parking. move your arses escalades and suvs! no, you may not block traffic on 7200 south in order to pull into this restaurant... i will ram you next time with my volvo beater, you are warned! keep in mind that you are a hazard to everyone in your ravenous taco-craving state of mind. seriously though, you are worse than drunk drivers!

more seating. so, it’s lunch time and you have been sitting there for 45 minutes since you finished your last $1.50 taco? time to move your arse bud and give up your table! after all, your date/workmate isn’t into you that much.

did i mention you are eating taco-standtacosin a junkyard?

i’m delighted to report it’s still dishing out greattacosand monster burritos ($7.69), with only one guy at the counter in front of me at 11 am. it’s still also laid-back quirky: cowboy boots on the fence posts, little metal tables and lots of natural lighting.

good eats good price. i don't live super close this place but i eat here every other month when i can. i usually get their shredded beeftacosand fish tacos. it is cheap and better than other places that offer tacos. it is just enough to fill you up but not over fill you.

this place seems to misuse its fan following. honestly i feel the meat in yes burritos and thetacosis way too little. lacks consistence.

lone star is a must. its one of my top 5 places to eat in the state. food is phenomenal. service is how it should be. they haven't changed anything since they opened and havent needed to. the ingredients are fresh and the fishtacosare the best i've had; using a different fish each day based in the freshness. love this place.

it's all good.. lonestar taqueria is absolutely delicious. their fishtacosare the best i have ever had. their nachos are good. the burritos are good as well. they have really uniquely flavored sauces that are just right and you have a choice between mild medium or hot. i have been eating her for years as i grew up just around the corner and i have never been disappointed.
