ghetto bird awesomeness!. this is not some trendy chicken and waffles joint - this is a real deal "hood" joint that has all the fixins done right too - just like the bird! southern fried (which means battered bird but not over battered, ok? don't get crazy, holmes!) chicken served with some waffle action and syrup. i for the two winger and a waffle for like $7.99 and a side of cheese grits and a tea. super wonderful and when they brought it out in aboot 5-7 minutes, i was like "ok, heat lamp mess - yuck!" but get this - it was hot and crixpy like i likes it and they brought me some hot sauce and my 1/2 & /2 tea was dead on too. serivce can be oftentimes lacking at places like these (ahem) but not here - the 2 young guys - one black dude and one hispanic dude - were all over me with helpful tips (this is really good today - try the colored greens (a joke from the ofice) et. i will go here again in a minute! better than any of the other yard-bird wanna be's around. if you go to kfc, you are a loser if you like it better tha lo lo's!

lo-lo chicken and waffles. culture review

the greatness of soul food or other know as (black people food). lo-lo chicken and waffles is where a lot of people like to attend for some southern food. lo-lo has two locations one in scottsdale and in phoenix. the hospital was very nice and the employees were really friendly which helped me enjoy my meal.
i ordered the two chicken wing combo with a choice of two sides, which were green beans and potato. it was also pretty awesome that i could have some red kool-aid with my food where else could you do that? my chicken wings were a bit crispy but overcall pretty tasty. i was not a big fan of the potato it was a bit to dry and not mixed as best i would like it. last the green beans were really good and topped off my meal.
the soundings of lo-lo is not really in such a nice neighborhood but is kept up pretty good. it is nicely decorated in the location of phoenix but really much older then the new one in scottsdale. in the location of phoenix the parking can get a little crazy because you have to park on the street. a lot of famous people come here for the culture of southern food and how good the food is.

definitely a fan!. i'll admit, i was a little skeptical when i heard "chicken and waffles". it's just a curious combination, especially having grown up in the northwest. this idea is all new to me.

then my food arrived. i was no longer a skeptic. i could swear i had a full half of a chicken in my three pieces, and they were smothered in some delicious form of gravy, which i could have just as easily poured straight down my gullet. the chicken was cooked to perfection, as were the waffles. even having everything mixed together on one plate which could barely contain all of that food didn't deter me one bit.

i do not have a single complaint about this place. everything was amazing.

chicken & waffles together!. the chicken was very good, as was the waffle. i had one of the "smaller" combos, but it was very filling. the service was very good as well. several staff attended to us with a smile. if you are on a diet, this is a great place for your "cheat day". i'll be back!

i've died and gone to soul-food heaven. lo lo's located in downtown phoenix serves up a delicious menu of traditional soul food. the restaurant is nestled on the corner of central and yuma, and if you didn't know it was there, it would most definitely be

great soul food. i have driven through this location many times never realizing this place was there. a co-worker had spoken highly of the scottsdale location so i decided to try this one in the downtown phoenix area as it is just a few miles down the street where i live.

i ordered the toy-toy which is 1 waffle and 2 chicken wings. i added a side of scrambled eggs. the order took a while to come out. the eggs arrived cold. the waffles and chicken were good.

what i noticed is that when we arrived there were not many people, but just a few minutes after we arrived about 5 new parties arrived. so my assumption for the delay in our order was that they must have delayed frying the chicken for our order to get all the orders in from the other parties, because everyone else's food arrived almost at the same time as ours. so we got to wait.

i would definitely go back but solely for chicken and waffles.

update: the above review was written review by me on yelp back in july 2010. since then, i have been back and the chicken and waffles were delish. i have now also ordered the fried okra, which were yummy. very tasty and almost like the ones i have had in texas. also, the collard greens are pretty good. you should definitely try this place.

great food. this is the place to go for a great soul food meal. the fried chicken and catfish is second to none. get a platter of one of these two, plus collard greens, mac and cheese and a sweet tea and you will be in soul food heaven. just forget your diet while you are here.

big fan of the food...but not the service!. my husband, two young children and i went in here on an early saturday afternoon. they were pretty busy but when we put in our name, the hostess said 10-15 minute wait. no problem. we waited almost 20 minutes and she was seating other people (who came in after us) before we were sat. after we waited for a table, the waitress was so rude, didn't smile and said about 5 words to us the entire time. somebody else brought us the food and a different person brought us our check. the food was outstanding, but the service definitely left a sour taste in my mouth...i highly recommend take out.

as i lay here on my couch so full i can't move i am a happy man: lo lo's was everything i wanted: ambiance was ghetto south fabulous! the chicken fell off the bone, the skin was full of flavor and crispy. our wonderful waitress ordered for us and yelled at the cook when our food didn't come out fast, this place rocked! the mix of hot sause, fried, syrup, red bean, mac and cheese goodness has me in a food coma of happiness!

bad customer service!!. went on saturday 11/7/2009 at 3:15 p.m., with my husband and our family of 5 kids ranging from 17-6 mo. walked in and an employee asked us to wait outside for a quick second to get a table ready for us. we waited outside for about 10-12 minutes in the heat sweating i know 10 minutes is not bad at all, but when you are out there in the direct sun with a 6 month old, 2 & 5 yr old and they are also uncomfortable b/c of the hot sun and we all know at 3:15 p.m., here is arizona is the hottest time of the day! i walked back in and asked the same girl that told us to wait outside if they had room for us or not she said oh we will get a table ready for you, like she forgot all about us outside! i thought that they were already getting a table ready, but i guess not. would have been a happy customer if anyone would have gone outside and said it will be a few minutes or whatever the case was. i am a latina with a handsome black husband and i never experienced such bad customer service before. maybe she was just hating.my husband loves to support his people and never thought it would be like this.would have loved to experience the food, but we went to china chile instead and it was sooo good & very good customer service and great prices! hope your customer service improves for future visitors!
