le filet

one of my favorite spots in montreal. i just love grabbing a spot at the bar over there! service is impeccable and thefoodis just perfect! if you're fan of seafood, don't think twice about heading there. definitely one of the ''top 5'' restaurants in montreal in my opinion!

this place is awesome, in our top 5 in mtl. everything from the service, ambiance to thefoodwas awesome. service was friendly, courteous, professional and fun. thefoodwas sublime. we decided to share 5 plates and each were perfect. so happy we tried this place out but sad we hadn't gone there sooner.

unique. the decor is trendy with fishnets on the walls. the service is friendly and professional. an army of waiters show up punctually to deliver the tapas to each table. thefoodand wine menus are surprisingly extensive. lots of imaginative combinations of flavors in the plates.

standardfood/ medium service. the dishes are well prepared but lack some flavour. the "morue noire" was nonetheless excellent. but the three other were "standard". you can add some pieces of foie gras and claim that it fits gastronony standards but it's not. the dessert "serenade" was really bad : dry. tasteless. wine is super expensive. 9$ for a quite basic withe wine sold for about 17$ at saq...
service was minimal. restroom dirty. for such price, you can find way better in montreal.

food, service, and atmosphere. all 3 were present upon my visit to le filet .food- exquisite, service - impeccable, and décor - understated, yet sophisticated. though not new to the montreal restaurant scene, le filet has definitely not lost its splendour.

very sad. i had originally counted le filet on a list of my top 5 favourite restaurants in montreal. the place was hip, thefoodwas amazing, the blondish waiter (he doubled as a musician i believe) gave the best service. we spent many weekday evenings at a table for two, or three - and when the weekends rolled around we brought family and friends from out of town, to enjoy - and see what they were missing out on! we truly truly enjoyed le filet.
although the last few times, other then our actual waiter - the experience has been 'tres below par'. first, the hostess is not welcoming at all. she is rash, rude, and seems to have no memory of the restaurants regulars. in the past we were always met with a gentleman with a beard who was more then beautiful in the service, and feeling he gave to each client that entered the door. each meeting was met with a warm smile and handshake, and if there was a wait - he would be accommodating, and offer a drink at the bar.

our last visit has left such a horrible taste, that we will never return.

horrible. our experience was very unpleasant. thefoodis nothing special, just slopped onto the plate quickly and served overcooked and cold. the chefs don't seem to know how to properly blend sweet flavors with sour notes to create overall umami for the palate. overrated, overpriced and overhyped. never again!

le filet is a serious restaurant. the hostess promptly checks your coat upon arrival, waiters thoughtfully recommendfoodand drink according to your preferences, and a 30-50 year-old crowd makes the place buzz. can’t wait to go back in summer and eat on le filet’s lovely terrasse!

delicious. fantastic meal, some components better than others obviously but over-all i would rate this place very well, excellent service, although my waiter was a bit of an arrogant prick at first, great wine list, nice ambiance, and most importantly great food.
must-try is the cod with macadamia nut, the hamachi with julienned cucumber, the jicima salad with fennel and grapefruit and the venison carpaccio with mushroom and comte cheese (possibly the best single bite offoodi've had in a while)

it's good but it's gonna cost you. filet is definitely one of the best new restos in montreal. it's fine dining in a trendy nyc like atmosphere. from outside it looks like nothing but once you go in....wow.foodwas wow the oyster au gratin was to die for and kills the rib n reef. it's a sharing menu which i find a bit annoying but every dish we had was succulent and perfect. one of the best new resto's in mtl. esthetically beautiful but the coat check is weird (as soon as you walk in all coats hanging). 4 dishes, 4 cocktails and a bottle of wine coated 550$ but the quality of ingredients is amazing

400$ for 2 people. i was so excited to discover a nice restaurant in that area. at first, the waiter kinda forced us to order all plates at once and strongly recommend one of the most expensive bottle of wine... it's kinda weird... thefoodis good, service is not great, very expensive. the restaurant won't last very long. its the kind of restaurant that you feel that you don't belong there....

best seafood and tapas-like sharing dishes i had in montreal. great atmosphere and location. their terrace will be killer in winter. i was warmly greeted by both owners upon entrance and got seated at an awesome table in the corner. most of thefoodis mean to be shared. that's why we ordered 4 or 5 dishes to share. their tataki was absolutely delicious. the waiter had pretty good idea of the wines he was selling. we tried an italian one, that was filtered through volcanic ashes. a truly original one. all in all, awesome, nyc-level experience in montreal.

one downside - it is a bit too loud and gets much louder by the end of the night when people are moving onto their 2nd or 3d bottle.

finally! another great place to eat in montreal. of course by the owners of club chasse et peches the other great place in montreal.foodamazing - value for what you get fair. only downside is acoustics - it's awfully noisy hard to hear anything. but outside of that perfect.
