la bonne bouchee

i'm a little biased in my review because i just love this place so much ☺️. there are so many yummy desserts and it's such a fun place to dine with a girlfriend(s).

yesterday, my girlfriend took me there for lunch for my birthday. i had the french onion soup which was delish - i've been craving some good onion soup ever since macy's closed their kitchen downtown, which used to be a christmastimetradition...i digress. soup and sandwich, you can never go wrong and the chicken salad sandwich was generous in size. i only wish they would have brought both out at the same time. my friend had the soup d'jour (cauliflower soup) which was super yummy, even for my 'every tastebud is working' friend. her lunch was paired with a simple side salad that included tomato, onion, cucumber, endive, spinach, and mixed greens.

the kids menu could be improved, the only selections were pb&j, toasted cheese, buttered noodles, and turkey sandwich.

we asked for a dessert menu, but we're only offered selections from a dessert tray, so i'm not really sure if we could have ordered from the case, but the chocolate mousse cake was delish!!

great for killing time. you know how you go into a restaurant, and it seems like you are rushed in, rushed through, and rushed out? this was not the case with la bonne bouchee. i was a "forever alone" table of one, and i spent about an hour and a half here. enjoying coffee, a croissant, and some quiche, i was killingtimeand nobody rushed me out of there. it was also a pleasant change because it wasn't noisy. i can't stand the loud talking and background music of chain restaurants. it is unsettling, especially while trying to eat. i would hide out in la bonne bouchee every morning, if i could. pleasant, great food, nice staff, and quiet setting.

fantastic pastries. i came in here for the firsttimerecently looking for a cake, and was totally wowed by the bakery. it's got a beautiful setup and decor, and the macaron display is so pretty. the cake i got was delicious, and the employees were very friendly and helpful.

haven't tried the restaurant, but i will definitely maketimeto do so soon!

just one caveat: as i was purchasing the cake, i saw little grab bags of assorted macarons on the counter. i bought one to try, since i figured it would be a good way to sample several flavors at once. i think these must be the leftover macarons from the previous business day or so, as they tasted a little off. a couple were pretty good, but the others were definitely going stale. next time, i'll purchase it from the display.

even worse than you might ever think !. 12 of us had a reservation for 6:30 and we were all ontime, table was not .
we got seated after moving a table together and asking if we could have 2 more chairs , granted . the server took our drink order at 6:40 . we waited until 7: 15 for water and then she had the wrong drinks . she wanted to give us 2 drinks that had been set at the wrong table . 10 more minutes and our drinks came . the bread was good but we ran out and asked for more . we
were told that it was not her table . more bread did appear about 7:35 or 7:40
but no butter . we were now out of water and drinks . 4 salads did come , but
4 did not make it for at least another 10 minutes . we had gotten up 4 times and asked," what is going on ? " they were so busy , well not that we could we
could see . now we saw 2 tables of diners who came in well after us had their food . now it is almost 8:00 and no dinner . the last soup did come out , but not what was ordered , this was the only soup left .
i went to the men's room which is on a path that takes you into the kitchen and almost into the storage room . the kitchen counters had purses and shopping bags plus coats on the counter where someone was still working .
the men's room was dirty and out of towels , just kleenex .
at 8:10 we said we were leaving , one member of our party said don't go , ,
our food is sitting up there under the lamps right now . well some of it might have been but there were not 12 plates there . now at thistimethere were only 2 other tables and they were getting wonderful service .
i got up and asked a secondtimeto see the manager , i waited and a young woman said she had no idea that there was any problem . we had complained 6 times at this point and she did offer to even go help get the food out . there were 8 retired veterans at that table and i feel that they needed better service and care than we got . finally 8:22 , food on the table , some , ,
cold , , , and some not worth any wait, , , and 5 were called good .
no discount was offered , no free anything and no real concern except that
they would be closing in a little soon

yes with service like this they will be closing soon ,

we visited the firsttimesince renovations. the atmosphere is ruined, the table placement is terrible- waitresses squeezing between tables- and the staff looks miserable. the hostess openly refused the people in front of us to not sit at a table in the waitress' path. there was another just a few feet away. she say us there. most importantly - our food was overcooked and served on plates that were so hot my husband got a blister on his hand from touching his. we will not be back.
