la bonne bouchee

visiting from nashville. my wife and i had a weekend getaway to st louis. we wanted to try a breakfast place that was unique to the area and ended up at la bonne bouchee. it was delicious! i've recently backpacked through france and this reminded me of the many cafes that were in paris! the food was amazing, i suggest the quiche. also the pastries are authentic, like a parisian store front! we even brought some back for friends. great atmosphere, food and wait staff.

food is the star. there is no other way to describe the service except awful! from the hostess to the servers to the checkout counter staff...customers do not come first. that being said...the food is good. the pastries are great, the cookies are worth remembering, and the cakes are divine. the full continental makes a good breakfast. great outdoor patio when the weather allows.

the meal was tasty: 7/10. my soup was beyond salty and the sandwich i ordered wasnt that great. server was attentive, but not the energetic and happy sort. bouchee has excellent desserts in their bakery that are (conveniently) on display as you are seated. if anything, go grab some dessert and coffee!

this place literally gave me cold chills. this place is awesome for deserts. there variety of pastries are absolutely amazing and are pretty decently priced. the customer service was also great. . i don't think i have ever seen so many pretty desserts in one place. went here because other reviews raved about the macrons. well not disappointed at all. and i got their famous fruit cake (yes the whole small cake:)) and all were delicious. folks if you are in the area just pop in and take a look i guarantee you will leave with something.

we were there with my daugther. had breakfest. service and menu was excellent. i had a large chocalate croissan. my daugther and my wife had three chese quiche.

i'm a little biased in my review because i just love this place so much ☺️. there are so many yummy desserts and it's such a fun place to dine with a girlfriend(s).

yesterday, my girlfriend took me there for lunch for my birthday. i had the french onion soup which was delish - i've been craving some good onion soup ever since macy's closed their kitchen downtown, which used to be a christmas time tradition...i digress. soup and sandwich, you can never go wrong and the chicken salad sandwich was generous in size. i only wish they would have brought both out at the same time. my friend had the soup d'jour (cauliflower soup) which was super yummy, even for my 'every tastebud is working' friend. her lunch was paired with a simple side salad that included tomato, onion, cucumber, endive, spinach, and mixed greens.

the kids menu could be improved, the only selections were pb&j, toasted cheese, buttered noodles, and turkey sandwich.

we asked for a dessert menu, but we're only offered selections from a dessert tray, so i'm not really sure if we could have ordered from the case, but the chocolate mousse cake was delish!!

we occasionally come to la bonne bouchee for lunch. the food is always delicious, the staff is very friendly. we love their little cakes and pastries, great selection. it's own of those places you keep going back for certain items.

french onion is really salty. the cappuccino was watery with no flavor ajd was filled with grounds. the staff was very unprofessional. they were talking about arrest records and childbirth experiences quite loudly using many curse words. it looks fancy and quiet so i thought i would have a much more delightful lunch. the food is quite expensive as well for the quality of service and food. the macaroons aren't fresh, very disappointing.

came here for brunch,food is good, huge variety of french pastry, servers are competent but not very friendly. the owner is awesome!! i will be back for the pastries !! :)

worst experience i've ever had at a restaurant. i went out to lunch with my friend friday april 17th. we both ordered the chicken salad sandwich and about four bites into my sandwich i find a twist tie in my mouth from the bite i had just taken and when the server decided to come back over to our table at her own convenience mind you i asked her for the manager she replied with her being the manager i was immediately shocked because the service was horrible already so when i let her know what just happened she didn't apologize all she could say was well that's not good well of course that's not good i just pulled a twist tie out of my mouth so she offered me something else and i let her know i wanted absolutely nothing else from that establishment so she took my plate and left when she came back she had the nerve to hand me a bill i looked right at her and said so you're still charging me she was like yeah your tea...excuse me i just pulled a twist out of my mouth and you think that it's reasonable to still charge me for a drink i don't think that is the right thing to do at all i've been a server for 10 years and never treated a customer like that and quite honestly paying was not the issue whatsoever i had a gift certificate with me i had every intention of spending the entire thing while i was there but because of what had happened i didn't want to give this lady anything i ripped that gift certificate up and left and i didn't even mention the fact that me and my friend had to clean off our own chairs that were covered in dirt and she had to ask for a new plate and new silverware that were absolutely disgusting and the tea the lady decided that she needed to charge me for was in a dirty glass so i don't recommend this place to my worst enemy in my opinion this place deserves to be shut down immediately

found great reviews for this place on urbanspoon.com and were blown away by every aspect of this cafe! feeling was warm and homey and food was delicious and filling. we grabbed some pastries, cake, pie, and cookies to go and can't wait to try them when we get home! definitely will be back on our next trip to st louis!

delightful black forest cake. we enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner celebrated with a personalized strawberry black forest cake.
it was as beautiful as it was tasty. while the birthday candle lends a bit too much brightness for the photo, the cake was personalized with dark chocolate writing on a white chocolate banner.

wedding. had a large amount of items made for a wedding quite a few were done incorrectly and instead of them making the order right the owner wouldn't call back or take responsibility for it, worse they tried to make it like it was my fault that they did a lousy job... surprised they would let something go out their door looking like that and putting their name on it! a friend had warned me that she had the same experience but i didn't listen and still used them very unhappy!

not likely to return. the service was poor with the staff not knowing what the specials if the day were (soup etc). it took over 45 minutes to get veggie salads of which the spinach was not cleaned appropriately ( massive stems) and was drowned in a mostly vinaigrette "raspberry vinaigrette", making the lower part of the salad unable to be eaten. also, not a good value either at over 30 dollars for the two salads and soft drinks.

great for killing time. you know how you go into a restaurant, and it seems like you are rushed in, rushed through, and rushed out? this was not the case with la bonne bouchee. i was a "forever alone" table of one, and i spent about an hour and a half here. enjoying coffee, a croissant, and some quiche, i was killing time and nobody rushed me out of there. it was also a pleasant change because it wasn't noisy. i can't stand the loud talking and background music of chain restaurants. it is unsettling, especially while trying to eat. i would hide out in la bonne bouchee every morning, if i could. pleasant, great food, nice staff, and quiet setting.
