dined at this restaurant for the first time last night. ordered the set #2 for 4 of us~ thefoodcame very quickly, and were all beautifully plated. each dish had the perfect flavour and texture. all up $36 per person, i say it's worth it 😉

reuniting with a friend after 6.5 years, we decided to enjoy our rare time together by indulging over thai food.

kinn thai is situated in the 'fancier' area of garden city (where all the decorative lighting and comfy beach chairs are). we came by the restaurant around 6:30-7pm and it was bustling with people. staffs going in and out withfoodand customers raising hands to order. the queue of people waiting for tables just kept growing. lucky for us, we were able to grab the last two seats in the bar area. 

greeted by the staff and provided with menus - we begin looking at what's on offer. my friend decided on the thai lamb shank and for myself (considering i've been eating the whole day) i was feeling something lighter, so i went with the papaya salad with soft shell crab :)

thefoodarrived quicker than we expected (both dishes came together). the thai lamb with roti was nice. sauce was flavorful and the lamb was soft. unfortunately, the dish wasn't really hot, only served warm. for the papaya salad, i found it rather sour (i'm not sure if it's supposed to taste that way). based on my previous experience in another thai restaurant, the sourness was only very minimal. on the pros side though, the portion was good and the soft shell crab consisted a decent amount of meat which i really enjoyed. 

our table water was constantly topped up, which i really appreciated. however, there were several times where a staff member came up to us asking whether she could collect our plates when we had already told her  'we haven't finished yet'. that was a bit of a downside for me.

despite that, it's a lovely restaurant. inside and outside seating areas available.

when it comes to thaifoodi know authentic after going to thailand and living with the locals for a few months in the village.

this thai restaurant is very authentic! i had the (yum won sen) grass noddle salad with seafood (thai pet)in english that means thai style spicy 🌶

we had a vegetarian dish to and it was also beautiful i don’t know how to say in english but in thai (fuk mou) it was little sweet but taste amazing very famous in thailand in khon kaen provence!

dined here for dinner on tuesday night and ordered the massaman curry beef and pad see ew with tofu. overall the flavours were so delicious and we found it was thai with a modern twist! the massaman curry was probably one of my favourites i have ever had in terms of flavour which was sweet, rich and creamy and perfectly paired with tender beef chucks. the dish was served with mashed potato which was a nice twist to regular chopped potatoes however i was very disappointment that there was 1 tablespoon of potato ( as shown) when in the picture on the menu it was displayed as being served on a bed of potato. my friends pad see ew was delicious but asking for added tofu there was only two pieces of tofu given. overall the resturant atmosphere is nice but wait staff can be a hit a miss. the waitress that seated us and took our order we found to be a little bit rude and patronising when asking her about what was in the dishes ect as she would screw up her face . we simply asked if the pad se ew came with tofu but the male waitstaff who brought out our meals and kept filling up our water glasses was very friendly and efficient. if it weren’t for these minor things that affect the whole dining experience, as thefoodis actually very tasty, i would’ve definitely rated them higher.

modern style thai, set in the trendy part of garden city. large dining area so you don't normally need to wait long for a table and it can cater for groups of various sizes. good menu selection and friendly service. timing offoodand taste were also good. had the massamun lamb shank which was pretty yum. price is what you would expect for a modern style restaurant, not the cheapest. good place to go if you are in the area, seeing a movie etc but not somewhere you would drive across town for. overall, would recommend.

we visit our favourite southside thai restaurant for lunch today. there seems to be fewer waitresses attending to tables compared to last year. waitresses are in a rush to take our order and are seen to be dashing around from table to table.

our pina colada and lychee lychee drinks are promptly served followed by our lunch order of soft shelled crab papaya salad, crab rolls, lamb shank and pad see ew. we enjoy every dish and rate thefood4.5/5.0

kinn thai is one of my all time favourites and the dining experience here - fromfoodto service - is always delightful and consistent! it’s hard to pick a favourite dish because everything is seriously delicious, so i highly recommend you try everything! they even offer a wide selection of drinks, including cocktails and mock tails, as well as some traditional thai beverages.

we didn't particularly plan to go to kinn thai at westfield garden city for valentine's day but it worked out that way. they had a free dessert offer when you do a facebook check in so that's how we got our free serve of khanom chan (a steamed layer cake similar to the kueh lapis or 九层糕) to start the meal.

we ordered from the lunch special menu, which for some reason weren't provided until we asked for it (i knew there was one from seeing it online). it wasn't just or take either as i noticed a table next to ours who got seated halfway through our meal also had the same issue.

with the lunch menu you have the option of adding a soft drink for $2 and/or a side for $3. our satay dish had 3 smallish sticks of chicken, with one stick looking a bit more impoverished than the other two. flavour was good though, with a lovely peanuty sauce.

the two mains were similarly bang on in taste, as you'd expect from a good thai meal. i thought my pork belly could've been slightly better in the meat/veg to rice ratio department, though with the massamun curry having such a morish curry sauce i was happily loading that onto my rice.

this place seems to be pretty busy on the occasions i've been past at night so i'm keen to return for dinner sometime, maybe with a group so that we can try/share more dishes 👌

i’ve been here twice for group dinners and both times have been a good experience. all thefoodwe had was excellent and the service was pretty fast considering it was completely packed. the portions are small for some of the dishes compared to the price per meal but the flavour is great and with rice it’s filling too. their drinks menu is extensive too and adds to the experience.

kinn’sfoodis always fresh and delicious. the service is good. while they accept bookings for large groups, i find the restaurant is too loud to really converse effectively. cocktails are ok but nothing special and are quite expensive.

beautifully decorated restaurant with little touches of thai cultural statues. very intimate setting where you can have a nice meal out.

the waitresses and waiters were readily available if you needed anything.
heaters outside as it was quite chilly.
the menu had alot of variety.

i ordered the spicy noodle with beef dish. ive had this dish many times with fond memories- made by friends, made by family, made by a boss lady in the organised chaotic city of bangkok, thailand.

unfortunately, this dish didnt take me anywhere. admittedly, it took me to disappointment city and a stop over at regretsville.
the flavours were too overwhelming and didnt give the slices of beef justice. there was too much sauce that was too sweet. disappointingly the traditional and well balanced thai combination of sour, sweet, salty and chilli flavour was lost.
i ended up skipping on dessert as i already had my sugar hit.
would i go again? yes. however, i wouldn't be a regular. it reminded me of chinesefoodbeing too westernised and confusing the heck out of my tastebuds.
authenticity is key. and authentic thai at its finest, is unbeatable and never disappointing.
