dined here for dinner on tuesday night and ordered the massamancurrybeef and pad see ew with tofu. overall the flavours were so delicious and we found it was thai with a modern twist! the massamancurrywas probably one of my favourites i have ever had in terms of flavour which was sweet, rich and creamy and perfectly paired with tender beef chucks. the dish was served with mashed potato which was a nice twist to regular chopped potatoes however i was very disappointment that there was 1 tablespoon of potato ( as shown) when in the picture on the menu it was displayed as being served on a bed of potato. my friends pad see ew was delicious but asking for added tofu there was only two pieces of tofu given. overall the resturant atmosphere is nice but wait staff can be a hit a miss. the waitress that seated us and took our order we found to be a little bit rude and patronising when asking her about what was in the dishes ect as she would screw up her face . we simply asked if the pad se ew came with tofu but the male waitstaff who brought out our meals and kept filling up our water glasses was very friendly and efficient. if it weren’t for these minor things that affect the whole dining experience, as the food is actually very tasty, i would’ve definitely rated them higher.

we didn't particularly plan to go to kinn thai at westfield garden city for valentine's day but it worked out that way. they had a free dessert offer when you do a facebook check in so that's how we got our free serve of khanom chan (a steamed layer cake similar to the kueh lapis or 九层糕) to start the meal.

our food order:
* pad prik khing, $13.90 - stir fried crispy pork belly, green bean in chilli kaffir lime jam sauce served with steamed rice
* massamuncurrybeef, $13.90 - served with steamed rice
* satay chicken, $3

we ordered from the lunch special menu, which for some reason weren't provided until we asked for it (i knew there was one from seeing it online). it wasn't just or take either as i noticed a table next to ours who got seated halfway through our meal also had the same issue.

with the lunch menu you have the option of adding a soft drink for $2 and/or a side for $3. our satay dish had 3 smallish sticks of chicken, with one stick looking a bit more impoverished than the other two. flavour was good though, with a lovely peanuty sauce.

the two mains were similarly bang on in taste, as you'd expect from a good thai meal. i thought my pork belly could've been slightly better in the meat/veg to rice ratio department, though with the massamuncurryhaving such a morishcurrysauce i was happily loading that onto my rice.

this place seems to be pretty busy on the occasions i've been past at night so i'm keen to return for dinner sometime, maybe with a group so that we can try/share more dishes 👌

nb. there's a 5% discount for cash payment.

really enjoyable trip to kinn thai.great atmospherea and nice and busy which is always a good sign. i had been meaning to try this place for a while.

i love how the venue looks and is perfect for a group dinner or even just a nice date.

we got the panangcurrywith chicken and the beef massaman. they were both beautiful, and cooked to perfection. i would like to come back with a big group and do a banquet where we just order heaps of food and try a little bit of everything! :d perhaps over xmas.

while the tom yum soup had a real delicious chilli kick to it, i reckon the mushroom wasn’t as fresh as it should be it was a bit mushy. soft shell crab with chilli jam andcurrywas yum

the food is amazing! but quite expensive. i had thecurryduck with lychee.currytaste perfect but lack of lychee pieces. quite inconsistent, once i had 3 lychee in it, once i had 0 in it... that was very disappointing. wish they had coconut rice... that would complete!

this is one of the best thai places i have eaten at in brisbane. the following was ordered on this occasion:

🦆 red duck curry
🐥 basil chilli chicken stir fry
🐄 thai beef salad (nam tok)
🍦 coconut ice cream with sticky rice
🍵thai milk tea

huge servings with generous amount of meat in each dish. the thai beef salad was the standout with the beef cooked beautifully as it melted in my mouth.

the only downside to the meal was that the food was not spicy. thecurrywas well balanced but lacked spice. the stir fry seemed too sweet. overall however, it was all still exceptionally tasty.

it was expensive but the quality of the ingredients plus the service make up for this. i really enjoyed my meal again and will be back.

*****
take note that this is of course all based on my unqualified opinion!

my considerations: 1. food 2. value 3. service 4. atmosphere

i ordered the massaman beefcurryand the beef was still cold, the center was almost a little frozen, as if they hadn’t microwaved it properly. the accompanying rice was also cold. overall, pretty terrible experience.

very beautiful resto with lots of magnificent thai details and i could not stop taking photos.

my mom been here before and this time she wanted to treat us. she ordered the dishes that she knew were delicious:
1. prawn tom yum soup 4.5/5: fresh prawns with bold, spicy, yet refreshing broth. highly recommended but be careful cause it really spicy
2. grill pork ribs 3.5/5: meat was tender and off the bone however i found the it a bit too sweet
3. crab prawn rolls 4/5: not your ordinary spring rolls. this one use different wrap filled with crab meat and topped with plum sauce. perfect starter....
4. greencurrychicken 4/5: delicious, succulent thickcurrywith chicken, egg plant, string bean and bamboo shoot. just eat it with warm rice....yummyyyyyy

overall, the foods are very good and authentic just like what i've eaten in thailand.

service was excellent too...so far i have nothing to critisize. well done and keep up the good work...

the penangcurryi ordered was flavoursome but the beef was very dry and stiff which was a bit disappointing. the atmosphere of the restaurant was quite pleasant, with a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options. the waitress that served us was also very kind.

the pad thai was below average, overly sweet and the noodles were swimming in sauce. beef massamuncurrywas underwhelming too. overpriced and disappointing. the restaurant always seems busy but don't be fooled by it. ambience was alright too but i will not be going back.

wow that was just horrible food. soggy soggy wet wagu beef, not chargrilled and the side of sauce tasted like bile.

duck curry? well it was somecurrysauce and then some precooked duck and tin fruit thrown in the plate before serving.

roti ? well that was just a round piece of puff pastry.

ice tea ? all syrup no water, and the syrup was foul tasting.

don't be fooled by this busy restaurant, the food is terrible and there is no care or quality here.

great atmosphere with soft pop music. we ordered the grilled chickens, beefcurryand pad thai. the pad thai was quite sweet and delicious. grilled chicken has the best presentation but it tasted a bit raw. they used t2 for hot tea. coconut juice was very fresh, worth to try!
