located at the very junction of the chauk bazar, near the ramada hotel, this place is a must visit place for anyone coming to darjeeling. the decorations is not much, but there is both indoor and outdoor seating arrangement. shooting of famous tollywood and bollywood movies has taken place here.
this place is mainly famous for their coffee, sausages and sandwiches. we had smoked pork sausage, plain pork sausage, bacon sandwich and a coffee. the taste and quantity was perfect. pricing is also pretty less. the total cost of our food was 400 rupees. the sausages were absolutely great. succulent and soft, the pork sausages stole our heart. however, the place is pretty small and you might have wait for quite some time if you reach there at peak hours of breakfast. cash and card is accepted. definitely visit this place for an authentic darjeeling experience.

rustic and legendary cafe in mall darjeeling. more than 100 years old cafe has to offer a lot to all visitors starting from chicken to beef. you can enjoy it all. only thing that requires changes is the service and look and feel to match with present standards. we visited and enjoyed a lot with choco shake along with hot chocolate on a wintry afternoon. alongside drinks we also had chicken burger and chicken sausage platter. must visit place in darjeeling. you should visit it even for a cup of tea.

like a trip to tiger hill to see the sunrise is a must in darjeeling tour itinerary, so is a culinary sojourn to keventers and glenarys. the view while sipping a cup of coffee, hot chocoate or a thick/exotic shake is majestic and awe-inspiring. delectable delicious and to-die-for food is an added bonus. we ordered a hot chocolate, a strawberry shake and the pork platter. drinks were superb. the pork platter consists of ham, bacon, sausage, salami and poached eggs. one platter is adequate for two. food is oily. delicious fare. there is always a queue in the mornings. will visit again for ham and bacon sandwich.

please improve chicken sandwich. the chicken was stale.

also, the crust of the sausage was very hard and the sausage was dry and not succulent.

coffee and shakes were fine.

overall, was a very disappointing experience.

this place needs no introduction. it is a 108 years old small clumsy restaurant located in the heart of darjeeling which got some awesome views. if you want to enjoy proper english breakfast while enjoy the view of kanchanjunga then this is the place.
had
1 pork platter - the perfect english way to start the day (must have)
2 hot chocolate - the best in town (must have)
3 burger- it was okay

the best combo you can always have is being a traveller and a foodie at the same time.
last year in december i visited darjeeling along with my friends. had a breakfast here. that typical english breakfast. it serves you bacon, sausages, an omlette. being a foodie i could have never asked for more.
cost- approx 350 ( i don't exactly remember).

p.s- if you want to have your breakfast with a view. this is a must try.
do try the espresso here as well.

the best breakfast place in darjeeling. located at the chowrasta more, this place has a perfect outdoor seating facility from where you get great views. the hot chocolate and the coffee are one to die for here. the breakfast platters and sandwiches are nice here as well. the bacon and the sausages are especially good. the prices are very moderate. make sure to go early to avoid queues.

keventers needs no introduction. like a darjeeling trip is incomplete without a trip to the tiger hill or a joyride in the toy train, similarly a visit to keventers is mandatory.

items ordered :

hot chocolate - (5/5) super chocolatey & indulgent, with the perfect consistency. highly reccomended.

coffee - (5/5) creamy & strong with a thick layer of foam on top. perfect for people who does not prefer hot chocolate.

pork platter - (4/5) a huge platter, enough for 2 people. comes with ham, salami, sausage, bacon & 2 poached eggs. the sausage was a let down but the other items were pretty standard, nothing extraordinary. however, this is the star item of keventers & is the best of all the other items.
warning : the platter is extremely oily.

bacon sandwich - (4/5) fresh, succulent and lean bacon chunks provided. recommended for bacon lovers.

ham sandwich - (4.5/5) thin slices of ham in buttery sandwiches.

salami sandwich - (5/5) loved this the most. slices of salami with a thin layer of butter. highly reccommended.

located in the mall area, keventers remain open till about 6pm. there is always a line in the mornings. comparatively, afternoons and evenings are less crowded.
the establishment is understaffed and you always have to wait no less than 15 min for your order, even if you order only a cup of coffee.

i'll probably be making hordes of enemies by stating this, but the truth remains that the continental spread at keventers is at the best, average.

now before you raise your pitchforks in protest, bear with me a bit.

no darjeeling trip is ever truly complete without a breakfast venture at keventers. that part is and will always remain true. so i followed the trend, during my first visit to the queen of the hills about a week back.

having done my research, i ordered the bare essentials: darjeeling grill platter (pork) & a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

pros?

1) quantity (my strategy to starve myself the night before worked)
2) perfect sunny ups
3) bang on with the hot chocolate. albeit it was a bit milo flavored, but it was not sickeningly sweet and that was a big green tick for me.
4) the view, with the open sky above your head!

cons?

1) service (dreadfully late compared to the food ordered. they are understaffed and with the place jammed full during morning hours, it's bit of a wrestle for them with the orders. a lot of the customers had this issue only. once the food arrived, they were quite content.)
2) the platter itself. save the lean pork which they served, the sausages, salamis & the bacon crisps were either too salty/oily/overdone/all of the above. this came across to me as extremely disappointing. specially since the review pictures looked so good & wholesome!

now this might be a one time experience. i'll be happy to be proved wrong. maybe it was the pressure, maybe it was my luck... i won't really know. but having had continental breakfast platters at so many places, this place couldn't even break into my top 5.

so there's that. but i'll be happy to return someday with an alternate experience. 😁
