great ambience and not so great food. it is a royal experience taht you pay for! but then taste is not mind blowing. delayed service and cold food was served. but the place kept us engaged because you visit a starrestaurantand sit in a old house !!! rather use the money to visit kerala and have authentic experience!!! 😐

the hospitality that the team extended was awesome! we come in after the kitchen was closed, but mr.anthony, and mr.ramachandran took the effort to reopen the kitchen and served us some really nice vegetarian food.

the appams and iddiyapams along with the stew and avial was really great! also, the banana caramel ice cream you served was wonderful.

all in all, your thoughtfulness was very endearing. when we came in hungry at that late hour, the thought to serve a quick starter while we wait for the main course to be prepared, was very nice.

thank you guys for making it a wonderful evening. i would surely love to come back to yourrestaurantsoon.

i couldn't find any reason not to rate thisrestaurantbelow 5.
ambience: 5
taste: 5
staff:5
we tried octopus fried and yummy is understatement. we also tried meen vevichahtu along with brown boiled rice and appam. the taste was out of the world. we came to know from boopathi (server) that they use traditional chulha to cook it and that makes d difference. appam was authentic and so was rasam which was served along with food. adha pradhanam as sweet dish was yummy and again authentic taste as jaggery was used.
the staff is extremely courteous and make you feel at home. infact all the dishes were suggested by boopathi and mr. anthony was there to explain why the taste of food served here is authentic. if you plan to go there do ask for suggestions from boopathi and anthony.. they are rockstars.

if you crave for some good coastal cuisine in a quiet and a green place in the heart of the city;this definitely is the place. as soon as you step into karavalli it gives you an instant feeling of being relaxed away from the city hustle irrespective of being in the heart of the city.

the interiors bring back the old world charm with wooden interiors and a huge wall clock.
 therestauranthas indoor and outdoor seating.

we ordered one vegetarian tiffin carrier, catamaran lunch and a sweet dish ( just cant remember the name -  jaggery based kheer ).
sweet dish was the star of the show :) . the food was good but is a little over priced.

worth a visit on special occasions.
staff were very hospitable and the service was good.

ambiance, food, service.. anything you can rate arestauranton.. karavalli will score 5/5. let's start with the ambiance. a quaint little place amidst the hustle bustle of the city. the moment you enter it from residency road, you will feel like the city is left behind and you are in quaint little country home with ethnic decor and soothing music. the old world charm is everywhere. it will transport you to a time when guests were treated royally. everything about this place is so graceful. be it their brass utensils or the chiming grandfather clock.

next comes the food and it goes hand in hand with the service. our food experience was so special because we were guided to choose the right dish and the best combination from the menu by our server vinod. mr. vinod and mr. kiran and their hospitality was the key behind the good food experience. if you are there.. please trust them. they know their food and have 15 years of experience serving guests. next comes chef ram. whose cooking is simply out of this world. we ordered malabar prawn for starter. succulent juicy prawns in a very hot and spicy gravy. simply mouth watering. for main course we ordered kundapur mutton curry with kerala paratha and ghee rice. the mutton curry... i have just no words to describe it. you have to eat it to experience it. the best kerala paratha i have ever tasted. crunchy, flaky, soft and tasty. ghee rice was subtle nad tasty and a perfect combo with the mutton curry. the elaneer payasam was a perfect end to the dinner.

i will definitely go back again and again and again...

when we called the place asking to reserve a seat outside we were informed that there is no need for reservation on that day, we will get a seat near the fountain. when we reached therestaurantwe were told that outside was completely booked the day before. had they informed us of this we would have planned accordingly. they refused to acknowledge any blunder on their part without knowing the name of the person we spoke to. it's not our responsibility to know that.

karavalli is arestaurantthat serves you authentic and best of south indian coastal food. it also has some good options for vegetarians as well. the ambience is worth the sitting, staff is very professional and courteous, and the food delicious. but the only thing that kills all the fun and spirit in dining at the place is it's slow service and food preparation time. but it's definitely worth a visit !

i have returned to the karavalli in bangalore time and again to savour the best south indian cuisine.

each dish is so well crafted you can taste the layers of flavour and the succulence of the ingredients.the resam drink which is at once delicately sour and spicy is excellent with the dishes. dessert is a must – try the dodol which is cleverly paired with ice cream.

though a busyrestaurantowing to its reputation, service is efficient and friendly, never rushed. mr anthony was extremely hospitable and having been with therestaurantthroughout his career, knew the portfolio well and made very good recommendations.

the lush greenery around therestaurantis tranquil and rustic. the washrooms are special too!

i hope to return soon!

and i landed up as i was staying there
and i had heard of the fame of the restaurant
and i was not much hungry due to a late lunch that day
and i had heard that therestaurantwas known for seafood while i was a vegetarian and i was alone on a business trip

and i strolled in and told the gentlemen at therestaurantreception all of the above
and they cobbled up a custom meal for me where i was able to get something of their specialities that was not on the menu.

the food was great, the service outstanding.

the gentlemen responsible . . . sundar and anthony.

karavalli is an institution when it comes to coastal & sea food cuisine- a cut above the other restaurants in terms of taste, ingredients, ambience & the fantastic service which you expect of a taj property. we have been regular patrons of this superbrestaurantfor some years now.

i recently visited therestaurantwith my family for lunch & we had ordered its catamaran lunch ( a set thali with unlimited helping of its superb veggies & delicious fish & chicken with 3 types of rice, appams, malabari parottas, etc.), chicken ghee roast which is undoubtedly one of the best you will find anywhere & neer dosas.

it was a wonderful meal with courteous & extremely attentive service by the staff- boopathi & nagesh were really helpful explaining the intricacies of the various dishes- & kudos to chef ganesh for the lovely fare.

highly recommended.
