we visited on the early side of dinner, two of us and our rather active 20 month old. the staff was immediately welcoming, and the owner stopped by to say hi. great atmosphere. our appetizers were excellent. my meal was good, my wife loved hers, the deserts were great. based on our experience i would highly recommend and visit again.

geat food sub par service. jones has a very clever menu serving old school diner food in a more proper modern way. everyone at our table was very pleased with their entree. i had tender beef potatoes and carrots. the beef was done perfectly in a flavorful demi glaze sauce. the herbed potatoes were a combination of baby gold and peruvian purples. the were done and seasoned perfectly. the carrots had what tasted like a maple glaze and were done properly. i had what they called duncan hines chocolate layer cake for dessert and that is exactly what it tasted like. i won't make that mistake again.

the service is a whole other matter. we never got our bread till after we all finished our dinner. my wife never got the coffee she ordered. also my wife's entree was not served with everyone else. we had to get the attention of another server to get it it delivered. in fact no fewer than 3 different servers waited on us at various times. this must lead to confusion. the food was so good i will give them another shot. perhaps the wait staff was having a bad day.

as far as the decor it is right out of the 1970's and is tacky cool.

not impressed! was looking forward to trying this place and knew a couple of people that recommended it. main issue was that we did not receive good service, felt like they did not appreciate us being there and the staff were trying to get us in and out of the restaurant asap. food was ok but nothing special at all, would be just as happy with a regular diner.

i love this place!. the first thing you'll probably notice is the atmosphere when you walk in the door. jones is full of it. this is a excellent restaurant downtown in central philly on the corner of chestnut and s.

jones consists of a large dining room that is on the left of the front door when you enter. straight ahead is the bar and there's another smaller dining area upstairs.

the food? it's really good food! they serve quick meals like soups and sandwiches or larger entrees like crab cakes, chili, pasta's, etc. the menu is very well rounded and even the most finicky person should be able to find something they like. they also serve brunch on sundays.

like many other places downtown you need to watch the mixed drinks here as they can skyrocket your bill quickly. however jones does not serve a weak drink in my experiences there.

jones has a great friendly staff and i have always received great customer service during my visits. it's refreshing to visit a establishment and run into the same wait staff time and time again. they must be taking care of their employee's and it shows in they level of service provided.

give them a try if you're downtown. it's about 2 blocks from the liberty bell.

they are trying hard. the food here was fantastic quality and presented well. the mac and cheese was tasty, but was still basically mac and cheese. if they had put a differnet twist like by adding blue cheese to the mix it might have been more interesting.

everything was served searingly hot, which is better than the alternative.

our table consumed more than a few of the 1 fish, 2 fish drinks (think of a melted bomb pop with two swedish fish as garnish) and that made my friends very happy. overall this is a fun place and worth a try.

the drinks were okay, drinkable but not great. hummus was good. atmosphere was weird. i get the retro theme but a shag rug in a bar/restaurant to me just seams disgustingly dirty.

so we were in philadelphia, and looking for a decent place to eat. and we were lucky enough to come across this place. if you like comfort food, give this place a try. i started with the mac and cheese appetizer, a generous portion of macaroni in a creamy cheese sauce, topped with a sprinkling of bread crumbs.  this decadence is easily shareable.

the only reason i was at jones was because i woke up late and morimoto had closed for lunch. i was not expecting much. a friend of a friend always dined here but i couldn’t understand why. to my surprise, the food here is really good. the decor is a throwback to the 70’s and the food is too. there is an all day menu of hearty american fare.

if you are craving comfort food, this is a good place.  the baked macaroni and cheese is very tasty.  inventive drinks and good food make this a winner.

you can never go wrong with this place! there is a great variety on the menu for everyone to find something they love. the food is good and decently priced. i love to go especially for brunch but make sure to make reservations to skip the wait. also, whatever you do--you must try their tater tots!

had the chicken parmesan for dinner here, nothing special at all. there was no seasonings and the sauce tasted like it was poured from the can, straight onto the chicken. adult old fashioned milk shake was delicious and never had anything like it before but the food definitely a let down here. our waitress gave us horrible service, very snotty. there's plenty of great eats around philly, dont waste your time on here. these reviews must be from the tipsy customers at the bar who ordered food...

two words: tater. tots.  i brought becky jablon and anne here during 4th of july weekend as part of a stephen-starr themed weekend and this was our brunch choice.  plenty of other places in the city serve tater tots, but theres something about tater tots the tots here that keeps me coming back.
