terrible food. if an "over easy egg" is too much to handle, chefs, consider another profession. just another typical tourist trap lying about its reputation.

this is the best place to have breakfast. they make a chicken biscuit smothered in white gravy that tastes so good. they only take cash but there is an atm in the restaurant.

definitely worth the hype :) excellent fried shrimp poboy and gumbo with yummy bread. perfect sweet tea. only downfall - be prepared that they do not accept credit cards (cash and travelers checks only). pork chops and red beans are also quite delicious. value cant be beat and portions are large. don't miss out on a visit!

very good shrimp po-boys, just make sure to note how big they are! we ordered 2 and each had to toss out half our sandwiches (and we went in hungry!)

pretty busy even in the late afternoon. you may have to share a big table. great po-boys and a huge selection - 48 kinds!

best ever. this was, without a doubt, the best poboy i have ever had. do yourself a favor and follow the instructions of many on here by getting the roast beef with everything on it. i couldn't believe my taste buds. the large sandwich was gone within minutes and was worth the mess (i used at least 10 napkins). we got there at a quiet time so no complaints on the line or wait. i will make sure this is a stop of ours every time we come to nola!

johnny’s has long been in my po’ boy rotation for being both good and located close to the cbd (central business district, where i prefer to stay), those sandwiches may now be accompanied by some other breakfast foods.

master judge. finally got to johnny's for an oyster po-boy today. when i arrived just before lunch, there was no line and the service was really fast. the po-boy was all i had hoped it would be, great breaded oysters and a lot of them, pillow soft bread, with full dressing, yum. by the time i had finished to meal, the line was out the door and orders were coming out of the assembly space fast and furious. the noticeable thing about the line was, no tourists, all locals (the tourists haven't been told since ten minutes later as i went past the central grocery, the line was halfway down the block, all tourists). this place is worth a trip all by itself. great food, good service, great atmosphere, doesn't get any better than that.

we got the seafood mufileta and oster po boy. it was good but we wish we would have gotten the plain mufileta . it smelled and looked wonderful, so if love sandwiches and a good price that's the place to go.

good and greasy. nice little hole-in-the-wall. i'm still not sure what the difference between a po boy and a sub is.
