extremely dissapointed. we were in new orleans visiting and was so excited aboutjohnny'sas we had heard so many good things about it. we ordered the surf & turf which was their famous roast beef and fried shrimp. it was disgusting. the bread was soggy and the fried shrimp tasted like it had been sitting there for a day. it was a horrible after taste.
we preferred the "old coffee pot" fried shrimp po' boy. so dissapointed with this place!

we'll chalk it up to one bad day. normallyjohnny'sis one of, if not, our favorite stops in the french quarter. my wife and i always split a grilled muffuletta and a plate of jambalaya. i know that's not the purist way to eat a muffuletta, but when it's done right, it can't be beat. it seemed as...

this place was on my list due to urbanspoon/zomato. i had the surf and turf po boy. not knowing how big it was me and a friend ordered two and a side of fries. the cashier was unwilling to let me change my order ( look for the half po boy, side, and drink special for $7.95, instead of the $10.95 12 in po boy and $1.95 fry) so that's whyjohnny'sget knocked down a couple of points.

but anyway, on to the sandwich. it was pretty amazing if i do say so. the roast beef was really tender and flavorful and the shrimp was crisp and plentiful. i wish i didn't get the sandwich "dressed" (that's extra by the way) because i didn't need all that lettuce and tomato. the fries where crisp and well seasoned too!

i would go back and now that i know more about ordering and po boy size i can order accordingly.

i have never found a single place anywhere that serves quite the number, variety and sheer crazy types of po'boy sandwiches as i have seen advertised on the wall atjohnny'spo-boys.  and still, a seafood po-boy is excellent and even better with bacon.

the bread was fresh, the beef was tasty, and the dressings were well done. some critics calljohnny'spo boys the best in new orleans

johnnys for lunch.johnny'spo boys was a great stop for a quick lunch in the french quarter. we shared a mufaletta and it was delicious. the bread is what makes these sandwiches, po-boys included. we must have been lucky because at 1:30 pm, we were able to walk right in and sit down at a table.johnny'shas been in the french quarter for a long time and is usually packed. i would say it is well worth the wait!!

awesome. i was lucky enough to be introduced tojohnny'swhen i was just a little girl by my mother who is from nola. now that i'm a grown adult, i try to visit there every time i'm in the city. sometimes it can be difficult to get in because of the long long lines and the crowd inside, but if you manage to get a roast beef poboy with mayo and extra juice.... you will not be dissapointed.

a nola tradition. i've been fortunate enough to never encounter the long snaking line that often forms at johnny's! lucky for me i usually arrive at an "off" time and i'm never disappointed by the deliciousness ofjohnny'sshrimp po boy! it's my favorite...i've never deviated because it's all i think about when planning my trips to nola. the sandwiches are huge and the bread is out of this world. i often split my sandwich with my mom or a friend (because really, who eats leftovers while on vacation)? i'm already planning my next lunch atjohnny'sbefore we leave!

open breakfast and lunch, johnny'sis another new orleans institution where long lines are the norm. as with many other restaurants in new orleans, the questions asked are "is it worth the wait?" and  "does it live up to the hype?"

great poboys this place really lives up to the hype. the bread is super fresh, it was actually being delivered hot and fresh while we ate. as for witch poboy to get they are all very good, we enjoyed the alligater sausage and thejohnny'sspecial. i also ordered a 1/2 shrimp poboy and i have to say the shrimp were a little tuff but other than that everything is wonderful. oh and they take cash only but do have an atm in the back

perfect po-boy. after a few recommendations from friends in no, i had the chance to check outjohnny'spo-boys on a business trip this week. as many times as i have had a mufalletta, i have never had one in new orleans, so that was what i went with. i was asked if i wanted it toasted, and i am glad i said yes. i have never had a cold mufalletta, and i am not sure how i would like it. for $8.00 i got a half a muff, which is what you normally get anywhere you order one. the olive dressing was outstanding with chunks of olives, carrots a celery. and there was perfect ratio of meat to cheese. the bread was fresh and very soft. and yes, it was very busy and crowded. but, you can not expect go to a "famous" place in the quarter and not expect crowds. the staff i dealt with was very friendly and helpful. and as busy as it was, the orders were filled quickly and efficiently. this is definitely not a place to kick back and relax. but, if you want a good, solid new orleans po-boy, you can't go wrong!

atjohnny'spo-boys, it is of course imperative that you get a po-boy, a casual new orleans sandwich with meat stuffed inside french bread. the only question is what kind? with several dozen varieties to choose from, it is not an easy decision to make. i was intrigued by the alligator sausage po-boy special , with half of an alligator sausage po-boy, seafood gumbo, and a drink.

i've been ajohnny'sfan since i had my first po-boy here 40 years ago. but i'm afraid it has changed since then. day old bread. skimpy on the tomato. cold oysters. at $15.00 for a single po-boy, i expect the best. i always worry that a place has gone tourist when they explain back what's on a dressed po-boy as if you don't know what you just ordered.
