jocko's steak house

what a shame.  i have come to jocko's for 45+ years.  recently returning to the area for a visit, jocko's was on my must go to list.  grabbing high school friends, off we went.  i ordered what i had for decades, the small spencer steak, medium well.  one friend had the linguica and two others the large steak sandwich.  
when the food finally arrived ( a good 45 minutes after ordering )  i could immediately see this steak looked far different then in years past.  never before had it have a sliver of fat and this was large, but not in a good way.  worst yet, the steak knife i had forgo before, was not only necessary thistimeout, but worthless as the steak was not only tough, but rare, very rare.  my friends linguica was the dimensions of a penny.  the two steak sandwiches were barely touched.  
service was not up to par with the high prices.  what a shame to wait such a longtimeto revisit a once local favorite, only to be disappointed and embarrassed to have insisted to the others to go there in the 1st place.  sorry jocko's, no one will be "follow me to jocko's" again.

jockos is an oldtimeranchers eatery, come here for big steaks cooked over red oak the santa maria way. cafe style dining room and simple sides.

walked away after a 2.5 hour wait!!!!!. arrived as a walk in reservation and was told about an hour wait. checked back with the reservation gals a fewtimeup until we just couldn't wait anymore. this is or was the first and last visit. and now that i've read reviews we will not be dining inside. i will order takeout only. i saw white boxes leaving the establishment in droves. save yourtimeand tip money and take out!!!!!!

not worth the wait. ate here on 3 separate occasions. the firsttimewe had a reservation and still had to wait 2 hours to be seated and another hour to receive our meals. the other 2 times it was an hour wait after the reservation time. the steak is decent, but everything else is less than desirable.

a favorite family destination. i have for many years been a patron of jocko's. my father is born and raised in santa maria. he took us there as kids and we still go and love jocko's. the restaurant fills up quick and there is at times a wait required, so go early to beat the rush. their steaks are scrumptious and large. i look forward to going there everytimei am in the area.

jocko's biker unfriendly. jockos was a destination i have taken others for the last 15-years as it was the spot to ride to and get a great meal until yesterday. i rode up with several friends making sure to get there in plenty oftimeto make dinner. upon arriving a middle aged asian woman maitre'd met us rudely asking if we had a reservation. told her no and she said we could not stay for dinner and to find somewhere else to eat. long story short, we ate lunch there (because we were starving) and was told to leave before 4pm, and if we stayed we would be removed from the restaurant. she would not accommodate our group (5 people) for dinner with not even a wait. even told her that on prior occasions we had not made reservations and were accommodated for diiner, she related "well not anymore, we're too busy"...this place has lost my longtimebusiness and all referrals, will no longer be our ride destination, don't think they like harley riders...so stay away if you don't want to be treated like crap.

first attempt didnt have a reservation, didn't get in. secondtimemade reser ation and still waited for a bit. the place has not invested in nice tables and chairs. looks like a dump but look pass all that and prepare for an awesome meal. got the large spencer steak and it was wonderful. so much food and good price. i loved it!
