jocko's steak house

wow. thisplaceis surely different. first of all, they serve you salsa with crackers and different pickled veggies. the bar is the first thing you see when you walk in and it is dark and old school. when i eat here i feel like i am eating in the 1940s. it's different very unattractive building but of course the steaks are perfect and the prices are great as well. had the spencer steak and it was great. liked it more than the new york which i normally get. crazyplacewith awesome steaks.

i was taken to this restaurant by a local resident that has gone here for years. enjoyed my small spencer steak that was huge. i am glad i did not order the large portion. theplacewas packed but i was told this was normal. service was suspect but ok. steak and potatoe were very good and i thought the prices were good for the portions you get.

great place. do not let the appearance fool you. thisplaceis awesome. you can expect at least a 45 minute wait even if you come early. the steak is one of the best i have ever had....

on vacation in california and stopped in, bestplacei’ve eaten in years. the steak and lamb both killer good. great service. huge portions. highly recommend this place.

while living in north dakota, i would dream about our yearly visit to see family and hit jocko's. for the entire 2,100 mile drive, it seemed for ever. the only bad thing was at the end of the meal, i knew it would be another year before i would get to enjoy another great steak. the absolute best place. the food is out of this world. i have recommended thisplaceto everybody i came in contact with. i have told them that they don't want to miss jocko's when they are out in california. i frequent mainly high end restaurants, and jocko's is by far the best.

santa maria style bbq. this is a greatplaceto go for a "santa maria style" bbq'd steak dinner. your steak is bbq'd on oak on an open pit and served with.pinquito beans, all of this traditional. your sides besides pinquito beans include several choice like a baked potato, rice etc and the meal comes with a salad, desert and coffee. the desert is ice cream. they also serve a tray of pickles olives peppers onions and pickles and some really great bread. you say this seems like standard fare except there is nothing spartan about it and it's all good ,not dry and pasty.. you won't go home hungry. in fact i saw "most" every one and i mean every one going home with a portion of their meal in a styrofoam container. it was not because it wasn't good. there was just too much. the size of the steak was enormous and done exactly as ordered. it tasted liked i hoped. i hit a home run this time.....and this my third attempt. the other two times were good but not what i wanted and here is why.
jocko's does not fire up the the open pit until 4:30 during the week so if you come early don't expect steak to taste it's best. it will still be great just not what they can rally do. sunday they fire the pit up early....not sure about saturday..
i found the staff very polite and accommodating. i say that sincerely. there was no rudeness like i read from another, in fact quite the opposite. theplaceseems very popular and it is because of it's food not it's location or decor. but all that adds to it's draw.....even the bar. i will definitely go back for that steak again.......it was a winner and it was huge.....tender and tasty.

jocko's biker unfriendly. jockos was a destination i have taken others for the last 15-years as it was the spot to ride to and get a great meal until yesterday. i rode up with several friends making sure to get there in plenty of time to make dinner. upon arriving a middle aged asian woman maitre'd met us rudely asking if we had a reservation. told her no and she said we could not stay for dinner and to find somewhere else to eat. long story short, we ate lunch there (because we were starving) and was told to leave before 4pm, and if we stayed we would be removed from the restaurant. she would not accommodate our group (5 people) for dinner with not even a wait. even told her that on prior occasions we had not made reservations and were accommodated for diiner, she related "well not anymore, we're too busy"...thisplacehas lost my long time business and all referrals, will no longer be our ride destination, don't think they like harley riders...so stay away if you don't want to be treated like crap.

first attempt didnt have a reservation, didn't get in. second time made reser ation and still waited for a bit. theplacehas not invested in nice tables and chairs. looks like a dump but look pass all that and prepare for an awesome meal. got the large spencer steak and it was wonderful. so much food and good price. i loved it!

the ribeye (spenser) is the best in the area. plan on waiting, thisplaceis packed like cattle on weekend nights.

awful. this was the worst steakhouse i have been at. i take that back, it is the worst restaurant i have been at. terrible ambience. they think size of portions is the only thing that matters. after eating all i could get down i looked at my plate and it seemed like i had not eaten anything! the waitress was very surprise we did not want a doggie bag. i just have absolutely no idea why thisplaceis so popular.

funky but awesome steaks. everything about thisplaceis a trip and is actually pretty funny. but the steaks are some of the best ever. order the spencer! sides are far below average, and if you make reservations, prepare to wait up to an extra hour after you come in. but overall, well worth the wait. homely waitresses in their big ole '50's dresses, the odd locals (all pretty friendly), make for an experience like no other. and again, amazing steaks!
