absolutely the very best you will ever have!. we love this place. we have been all over this country. we take him the morsels of our meal because you don't want to leave anything behind. it is well worth the wait.

walked away after a 2.5 hour wait!!!!!. arrived as a walk in reservation and was told about an hour wait. checked back with the reservation gals a few time up until we just couldn't wait anymore. this is or was the first and last visit. and now that i've read reviews we will not be dining inside. i will order takeout only. i saw white boxes leaving the establishment in droves. save your time and tip money and take out!!!!!!
obviously the whitebox people know better.

yum with a capital yum.. the best ribeye steak i have ever had. that is all.

the best steak i've ever had but you have to decide if it's worth it to you. ninety-minute wait, zero decor, roaring sound level, terrible sides (except the beans). but the steak .... mmmm

not worth the wait. ate here on 3 separate occasions. the first time we had a reservation and still had to wait 2 hours to be seated and another hour to receive our meals. the other 2 times it was an hour wait after the reservation time. the steak is decent, but everything else is less than desirable.

the big boy's steak house in central california. a freakishly large portion of hearty food, located a reasonably short drive off the 101-freeway south of pismo beach. if you are a steak lover, you will love this place.

be prepared to indulge in huge steaks and huge side dishes (the baked potato and baked beans were especially good). the atmosphere is laid back, nothing fancy. there's a lot of space and seating is comfortable. recommend making a reservation if you can. service is good and the crowd is a mix of regulars and those stopping in on the way up or down the coast.

i'd say the prices were high, except for the massive portions you get for them. i can't remember if i left off the last star because of how light my wallet was after the meal or how heavy my stomach was from all the good food.

made a reservation. waited about 2 minutes to be seated. great attentive wait staff. you don't come for the atmosphere; you come for the great food! $28 for a 20 oz ribeye!

a favorite family destination. i have for many years been a patron of jocko's. my father is born and raised in santa maria. he took us there as kids and we still go and love jocko's. the restaurant fills up quick and there is at times a wait required, so go early to beat the rush. their steaks are scrumptious and large. i look forward to going there every time i am in the area.

best steak around! they use a huge oak pit bbq, which gives the meat a wonderful flavor. the steaks are very juicy and tender, you don't even need a knife to cut. the filet mignon is more like 10 or 12 oz, rather than the typical 6 oz. great food, nice atmosphere. call ahead to make a reservation if going on a weekend. they fill up fast! highly recommend.

santa maria style bbq. this is a great place to go for a "santa maria style" bbq'd steak dinner. your steak is bbq'd on oak on an open pit and served with.pinquito beans, all of this traditional. your sides besides pinquito beans include several choice like a baked potato, rice etc and the meal comes with a salad, desert and coffee. the desert is ice cream. they also serve a tray of pickles olives peppers onions and pickles and some really great bread. you say this seems like standard fare except there is nothing spartan about it and it's all good ,not dry and pasty.. you won't go home hungry. in fact i saw "most" every one and i mean every one going home with a portion of their meal in a styrofoam container. it was not because it wasn't good. there was just too much. the size of the steak was enormous and done exactly as ordered. it tasted liked i hoped. i hit a home run this time.....and this my third attempt. the other two times were good but not what i wanted and here is why.
jocko's does not fire up the the open pit until 4:30 during the week so if you come early don't expect steak to taste it's best. it will still be great just not what they can rally do. sunday they fire the pit up early....not sure about saturday..
i found the staff very polite and accommodating. i say that sincerely. there was no rudeness like i read from another, in fact quite the opposite. the place seems very popular and it is because of it's food not it's location or decor. but all that adds to it's draw.....even the bar. i will definitely go back for that steak again.......it was a winner and it was huge.....tender and tasty.

jocko's biker unfriendly. jockos was a destination i have taken others for the last 15-years as it was the spot to ride to and get a great meal until yesterday. i rode up with several friends making sure to get there in plenty of time to make dinner. upon arriving a middle aged asian woman maitre'd met us rudely asking if we had a reservation. told her no and she said we could not stay for dinner and to find somewhere else to eat. long story short, we ate lunch there (because we were starving) and was told to leave before 4pm, and if we stayed we would be removed from the restaurant. she would not accommodate our group (5 people) for dinner with not even a wait. even told her that on prior occasions we had not made reservations and were accommodated for diiner, she related "well not anymore, we're too busy"...this place has lost my long time business and all referrals, will no longer be our ride destination, don't think they like harley riders...so stay away if you don't want to be treated like crap.

you might think this was a good steakhouse if you were used to ordering steak from sizzler or denny's, but the steaks were tough and tasteless. add to that the long wait, the marginal side dishes, the surly waitresses and the rude bus boys, you'd be much better off driving over to in & out burger for a much tastier meal.
