jang ta bal korean charcoal bbq

opted for jang ta bal over our usualkoreanbbq joint tonight (jo ja ryong). staff are super friendly here, full of smiles. they even offered to get new side dishes for us before we could ask for refills which is a big tick in my books--i generally feel bad disturbing the waitstaff to ask for free refills but here they happily do it for you!

they have two seating styles in the restaurant. we weren't offered a choice but would've loved to try the traditional seating! looks like fun.

we ordered the wagyu marbled beef, ox tongue and pork belly. we also got the egg soup.

the meats look like not much at all but once you cook it up, it really fills you up! the wagyu was so nice and soft and melt-in-your-mouth and all those heavenly things. my favourite was the ox tongue: thought the flavour was just on point.

egg soup was disappointing for me though. a long wait for an egg hot pot that wasn't very flavoursome at all. perhaps i'm too used to egg pots with more seasoning? i just felt like this was just steamed egg with nothing added and it felt really bland.

overall, a great experience!

jang ta bal located amongst all thekoreanbbq places in strathfield is an absolute stand out for me.

they provided some fantastic little side dishes and sauces which are a hit. especially the kimchi 🤤 fresh crispy lettuce to wrap your delicious meat in is also a winner with me.

the pork belly marinated in very spicy sauce was one of my favourite dishes. i loved it so much i was a little piggy and had to get a second serve.
all the meat is outstanding quality and fresh.

i can honestly say this is one of the bestkoreanbbq i’ve had so far! it’s a little costly but trust me if you are about quality and taste, it’s really worth it. this restaurant has put me off any all you can eatkoreanbbq, i would rather spend a little extra and have a fantastic night with some amazing food.

thiskoreanbbq restaurant is got to be my all time and go to kbbq!!!! they serve up the most quality fresh meat including all beef, pork and chicken; as well as marinated!!! i would say their marinated meat is marinated to perfection! their kimchi pancake is something you would also want to order along with eating bbq meat!

they serve traditionalkoreanbbq here service is average depending on how busy it is. the biggest difference with this joint is that the have akoreanbbq set up at the back of the front part of the restaurant. food isn't too pricey butkoreanbbq is never that cheap.

one of the bestkoreanbbq, it has indoors and outdoors seating at the back in, their meat is very high quality. i recommend getting the premium wagyu set, the marbling is just beautiful! the side dishes are unlimited and it's all very nice. service is good, they give u what u need, however...

have been staying in strathfield for clise to 8 years. as you would know, strathfield has faar too manykoreanjoints. jang ta bal is my favouritekoreanbbq. the spicy chicken, soy chicken are my favourites. usually end up having these on bbq along with a few sojus. the environment is live vibrant and noisy. you can sit on the traditionalkoreanstyle low rise sitting tables or you could end up getting the regular ones. on different occasions i have had the fried rice and a few other things on their menu. but my personal favs is the spicu chicken bbq. highly recommended. cheers

needless to say, jtb is one of the most popularkoreanbbq restaurants in sydney. they not only serve deliciously marinated meat which is freshly sliced for your bbq, but also provides you with an amazing atmosphere for your friday/saturday nights (if you’re down for a bottle of soju or 5 😜). take note that on the weekends it will be an over 45 minute wait and there is no reservation!

the whole area near this place is allkoreancuisine. this restaurant is one of most popular place for authentic kerean dishes.
very crowded and pretty noisy at 11pm.

soon whole table were full of dishes and staff were attentive.
complimentary awesome egg soup came with kimchi too😀
all meat was fresh marinated and tasty.
korean plum wine was very strong and a little sweetness compared to japanese one.

surely we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
difinitely dine in again when we visit sydney.

one of the bestkoreanbbq experiences i have had in strathfield. from the moment you walk in you are set for an experience. there are various seating arrangements, and i had the pleasure of sitting on the floor seating which was cozey and comfortable. it really felt homely and comfortable.

the dishes although a bit on the pricey side are well worth it. you are greeted with a large variety of side dishes which are a plus at anykoreanrestaurant. there are various meats to choose from and the portions are quite large. every piece of meat had exceptional quality. the staff were very attentive and assisted with cooking the meat when needed without being asked.

there is lots of traditionalkoreanalcohol such as plum wine and soju to enjoy. this is truly a great place to go with a group of friends if you’re looking to leave happy. the experience was out of this world and is the stand out restaurant amongst the variouskoreanbbq restaurants in strathfield.

this place can have long lines on the weekend for good reason so it could be useful to book if you're going during peak time. it would have to be one of my favourite restaurants when i'm cravingkoreanbbq - all of the meat provided is excellent quality. i particularly recommend the wagyu beef bulgogi and beef brisket. usually, i tend to share amongst 2-3 people one of the meat sets that has a combination of pork and beef. make sure to ask for extra red pepper sauce; it's delicious with the meat. if you're lucky, you will get crab as one of the free sides, something which mostkoreanbbq restaurants don't offer. it's also good to see that they've expanded their selection of pre-cooked dishes - the japchae is great. you also have the option for traditionalkoreanseating on the floor, and it's nice having the option to sit near the back of the restaurant now that smoking isn't allowed there.

my go to bbq in strathfield, food is delicious and service is usually pretty good. is a bit pricey but if you're after goodkoreanbbq this is the place to go!

jang ta bal, is one of the most popular and crowded establishments along the boulevard, but it was worth the wait.
we ordered the wagyu platter, slightly on the pricier side but screams quality. plus they don’t skimp on the sides, so we were stuffed by the end of the meal. there’s also beer + soju deals, so our night was lit 🔥.
the downside is probably the ventilation; we were sitting in the back corner where the fans could not reach us. so our table was just covered in smoke and flames.

for authentic, realkoreanbbq, the type that real koreans go to, this is your place! we went on a sunday night and we still had to queue (around 7:730), and it was busy inside so that was a good sign to start with.

the strathfield branch is the original branch and is designed to look like an industrial warehouse /barn with an open back door (probably to remove all the bbq fumes). there are big hot plates in the middle of each table, it’s a very communal and social way of dining.

there is a selection meat types and cuts. the waggu scotch fillet was melt in the mouth, tender af.

tasty side dishes are refillable which is good, the kimchi is addictive, i’m warning you!

we also orderedkoreanpancake which was tasty and glass potato noodles which were tasty.

if you haven’t been tokoreanbbq before, i warn you not to wear anything that your worried about smelling like bbq afterwards as you will definitely be wearing ‘korean bbq eau de parfum’ afterwards!
