disappointed. terribly disappointed! i thought i would treat my teenage daughter to a nice lunch while we were out shopping. boy was i wrong. the service was good, the salad was very good but the prime rib was awful. it looked and tasted more like a round steak (tough and flavorless). the server asked how i liked the prime rib (since it was her favorite and she recommended it) so i quietly and politely told her that it was a bit tough. her response was "sorry to hear that" and she walked away and then brought me the check.

very good dining experience. my husband and i had never been to j alexander's before and decided on it for our anniversary dinner this year. our server was very sweet and attentive. my hubby ordered the filet and i had the pork tenderloin with thai bang bang sauce. both were wonderful. i don't think i've ever had pork anywhere else that was so tender! but for us the highlight was definitely the dessert. it was the best creme brulee' we have ever had! so incredibly creamy and the real vanilla beans were visible throughout. we will definitely go back to this restaurant and making the reservation through urban spoon/open table was so simple and hassle free.

it's amazing because although i have a j alexander's practically at my back door here in chattanooga, i did not go to my first one until my mini honeymoon in atlanta with my wife. j alexander's in perimeter is the spot i owe it all to. finally, i made it to the hamilton place location with my wife for a date night, and although it was not perimeter's location in atlanta, it did not disappoint. the server was fantastic and the food spot on. choose j.a. for your next date night!

no complaints. i have been coming to this place since it first opened in the mid-nineties. its decor is still quite stylish after 20 years. i like coming here for drinks. when i do have something to eat, it usually is at the bar (you don't have to endure any screaming brats). last night was no exception. the bartender (i think her name was holly) was very friendly and entertaining. i ordered a bottle of the st francis cab and the danish baby back ribs. the best part of the meal was the cole slaw which was exceptional . i really need to come to this place more often. it has good food and great service.

forget this place. overpriced and the food was just ok

anniversary at jays. wonderful service from entrance to exit. we scored an awesome corner booth with romantic light, all of the food was excellent from appetizers to dessert! the staff continuously checked in on us. we will definitely go back!

a ton of msg. i have to drink water through the whole night and couldn't sleep well. terrible.

incompetent service, mediocre food. have dined there 4 plus times. service keeps getting worse. nice space and has so much potential. dined there last night with my sister and mother after a ladies day of shopping. we were waited on by 6 different young ladies last night, none of whom knew what we ordered from the last clone that came to our table. had to ask for our side three times, had to beg for a second round of drinks, brought things we asked them to leave off of our plate. we were told the specials by three different people and finally we had to tell the last girl that we’ve heard them twice before and would like a drink and would like to order food. not the brightest people hired at j. alexander’s. they’re not rude, but just flakey. willing to pay more for professional service. was not a relaxing or good experience. if you’re not expecting to be busy on a saturday night, then maybe the restaurant business is not your calling.

too sweet. i love a good carrot cake but j alexander's is smothered in overly sweet frosting. scrape off the excess and it is not bad, but still too sweet for a cake that is normally a good blend between sweet and savory

i would not recommend this restaurant. the restaurants appearance is nice, but the quality of the food is very low! my boyfriend and i got very sick a few minutes after dining at this establishment.

worst filet ever. it's sad when you go to a restaurant that specializes in steaks and charges $30 for a filet and the steak is dry, tough, and has really no flavor at all. i asked for 57 sauce and they only had a-1, which i've never used on a filet. when we spoke to the manager she seemed fine and said she would take care of the cost of my dinner and offered me something else. however, my husband was almost finished eating his meal and we came there to eat together not watch one another eat. then she was very persistent about fixing me something to go even though i had declined several times because it would be cold by the time i got home. since she refused to drop the matter;i agreed to get something to go. thinking all the while that this meal was going to be on the house since she had said they would take care of my meal. however, when my husband got the check they had put the cost of the to go meal on our ticket. he just looked at the waitress and told her to keep it. i never really wanted it in the first place. so, good for me. that night they got to eat the cost of two meals. how rude and money hungry can you get. will never return, and will tell my story to everyone i know, and i'm in a public position so that's quite a lot of people

first trip there was valentines day.. food was wrong twice then cold....told manager and he compted meal and gave us 80 dollars to use on the next visit...which we did and had a fantastic experience....totally redeemed

excellent food and service. always a hit. i highly recommend it.

feels like manhattan in the heart of jax.. this is one of my favorite restaurants in jacksonville. and it's a chain! what can i say? it's pricey, but perfect. it is cocktail lounge dim, the sounds of chet baker's trumpet, or john coltrane's saxophone fill the room, but not too loudly, and the food is amazing. the whole place has a manhattan vibe. for an appetizer try the smoked salmon and capers on melba toast crackers. if your budget can't handle the $25 - $30 entrees, try the best cheeseburger you've ever had for $10, or the prime rib sandwich.

the food was very good. i had the filet mignon and baked potato. it was melt in your mouth good. service was good. i went with a party of 16 and they did a great job with it. it was kind of loud, but this is definitely worth a stop at.
