best steak house. i had a lovely experince and will return for and evening out and for events. i had the maui steak it was perfect.. my son had primeribfrom the kids menu and it was so soft and tender.. if you go you wouldn't be disappointed.

i hate that you can not pick your sides when you eat here. it is a little insulting that you pay 20 plus for your steak or primeribthen get forced eat it with mashed potatoes. server then looks snobbishly at you committed a cardinal sin to request vegetables instead if potatoes. so sorry that i may have sugar sensitivities and can not eat a lot of starch.. food is good but portions are way to big. so big that i a 200 lb. male can not finish. the side slide is so big it could be an entree. i love a lot of food but lay it off a bit on the size and worry more about the quality of the food and experience. i would come back if they became more flexible with side options.

starts with first impressions on our first visit and that set the tone for the rest of the visit. one word for everything, great, service, decor, price, portions, flavors. potato & bacon soup of the day was very flavorful. the grilled artichokes were some of the best. the primeribwas cooked to perfection, very tender and moist with a great seasoning package. our server was thallie and she was great as well

literally everything taste just like nona blue modern tavern down in ponte vedra beach !!! even the plates !!! from the mac and cheese benign in the same bowl !!! the carrot cake is exactly like it minus the drizzle on top , the spinach dip!!! the primeriband the steak!!! same set up! only difference is nona blue modern tavern is half the price !!!! i will be taking my business meetings there !!

i love this place. it's cozy and dim, good for a date. also nice for a girls lunch before a mall trip :). the primeribfrench dip sandwich is wonderful, as is their spinach and artichoke dip app. but my favorite item on the menu is the cypress salad. between th sweet croutons, perfect fried chicken, avocado, and pecans, it is just delicious. service is always good too. it is a little on the pricey side. the menu is not huge but has many good choices.

called to get a reservation and the young lady that answered was more than rude.   i asked for a 7 or 7:30 reservation and was told that it would be 8:30 at the earliest.   we decided to go anyway and found the wait to be about 15 minutes at 7:00.   the server was pleasant but hard to hear since the restaurant is quite loud.   drinks were brought promptly but that ended anything that resembled prompt service.  so how was the food, let's start with the salads; they were both overdressed which seems to be a trend in restaurants today.  my wife and i split a fish sandwich that was tasteless, over breaded and way over done.  the mac and cheese side was good but did not live up to it's name.  the other fish sandwich at the table suffered the same fate.  on the brightside the primeribthat another in our party had was quite good and nominated as the best dish of the night.  oh and the server only came back to ask if we were finished and deliver the check.  so how would i rate the restaurant, overpriced and pedestrian.

feels like manhattan in the heart of jax.. this is one of my favorite restaurants in jacksonville. and it's a chain! what can i say? it's pricey, but perfect. it is cocktail lounge dim, the sounds of chet baker's trumpet, or john coltrane's saxophone fill the room, but not too loudly, and the food is amazing. the whole place has a manhattan vibe. for an appetizer try the smoked salmon and capers on melba toast crackers. if your budget can't handle the $25 - $30 entrees, try the best cheeseburger you've ever had for $10, or the primeribsandwich.

not first choice, but fine. i would probably eat here again. it's not very original, but i've had some good food. i am glad they serve primeribas not many restaurants do anymore.

great ambience. definitely upscale. service is second to none and the primeribis incredible! omg try the pumpkin pie if they have it!

u can see and smell the hidden racism... so very sad...my money looks like yours...if something is not cooked correctly i have a right to send it back and get my entire meal again....but that did not happen ....my god bless u all ignorace is learned not taught.

houston want a be...theribeye was so tough....aribeye. the manger said because of the sauce its soaked in....i guess he though because i was african american ..i did not know any better...by the way they treat african american quiet different ....u can see and smell the hidden racism ....

great steak. thumbs up on staff and food. best ribeye i ever ate. primribcould use more season side dishes are eye pleasing and taste good too.

j. alexander's - shame on you!. i've "dined" at j. alexander's frequently since the baton rouge location opened. i've probably eaten at least a hundred "grilled chicken salads" over the years. i don't even need to look at the menu, i know it by heart. j. alexander's was always consistant - i nearly always enjoyed my "dining experience" and if i had a problem once or twice over the years, management was ready to make it right. unfortunately, i can no longer say that about j. alexander's. the portion size keeps getting smaller while the price keeps getting higher! when "corporate" is in town greed and rudeness take over and southern hospitality is forgotten! last week my husband and i "dined" at j. alexander's two days in a row. we were unhappy both times! their "corporate guy" showed the staff that he wasn't going to back down on what he called "the correct serving size" of a grilled chicken salad. since i eat "grilled chicken salad" on a regular basis, i know what a serving size should look like. the "corporate guy" charged us $19.00 for a small piece of primeribthat my husband had ordered and we left! we were no more than a number to him. we've dined out at other establishments several times since the mishap last week. what really upsets me is that i want to dine at my favorite restaurant j. alexander's, but because of their greed and rudeness, i no longer feel comfortable there. after reading other review's i realize that i'm not the only person that isn't happy dining at j. alexander's. there are too many other restaurants in baton rouge that are more than happy to accept our hard earned money and present us with a more than adaquent serving size at a more than adaquent price! j. alexander's, you might have won the battle, but if you continue to mistreat your loyal customers like we were mistreated last week . . . will you win the war?

great food, friendly staff.. this place is great, courteous staff was a breath of fresh air after a bad experience at another restaurant in the area. fire grilled artichokes were absolutely delish app!! primeribwas succulent, saved the day for us!

chose to have dinner there last night becuz of no wait but we weren't impressed! waitress was attentive but food was way overpriced and honestly was not that good!! we had: ponte vedra salad=good, onion rings = greasy & no flavor (except when dipped in chili mayo), primerib= ok, ahi tuna = undercooked (to the cooks you have to sear it on both sides), not your ordinary mac n cheese=oh it definitely wasn't! it tasted like dried, tasteless onion rings on top but who knows what it was! didn't like!!!! cornbread = i didn't like and way too greasy!!! fiancé liked it though. had israeli couscous and wasn't impressed! bill = $95 for 2 people!!!!! really overall night 1 to 5 with 1 fantastic and 5 being never to return (5)
