cloud bounce daycare. nice of j alexander to sit us next to (behind) a table of 5 children, 4 of which were under 10, while the table of 10+ adults was around the corner and out of sight. my wife and i spent over 100 dollars for our evening out, only to be constantly annoyed by the daycare seated adjacent to us. my wife felt like she was on the cloud bounce due to the kids jumping up and down in the booth behind her.

great - lives up to the reviews we read. if i lived here i would.be here often.

i hate that you can not pick your sides when you eat here. it is a little insulting that you pay 20 plus for your steak or prime rib then get forced eat it with mashed potatoes. server then looks snobbishly at you committed a cardinal sin to request vegetables instead if potatoes. so sorry that i may have sugar sensitivities and can not eat a lot of starch.. food is good but portions are way to big. so big that i a 200 lb. male can not finish. the side slide is so big it could be an entree. i love a lot of food but lay it off a bit on the size and worry more about the quality of the food and experience. i would come back if they became more flexible with side options.

go for the prime rib!

this is a great restaurant that's part of a franchise chain with locations all over the country. the food is great, the service is out

starts with first impressions on our first visit and that set the tone for the rest of the visit. one word for everything, great, service, decor, price, portions, flavors. potato & bacon soup of the day was very flavorful. the grilled artichokes were some of the best. the prime rib was cooked to perfection, very tender and moist with a great seasoning package. our server was thallie and she was great as well

stopped here for a friday night dinner. we had a couple vodka martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. delicious. i had a french dip sandwich which was good, but not great. the service was good and friendly. overall a good dining experience.

the service was fantastic. enjoyed the queso appetizer. the steak was cooked perfectly as were the french fries. the portions were very large. would highly recommend.

pretty pricey for what you actually get. a chain place and my few visits have been a mix if good and not so good in food and service level.

ok if you are at mall and want a change from bj's.

while i'm not a vegetarian, i often choose meatless options when eating out. while there are many positives about j alexanders, their meatless options are very much lacking. besides a simple salad, the only option was a veggie burger. it is said to be made "in-house", so that is great, but a veggie burger is not an alternative to a hamburger. it should not be dressed like a regular hamburger with mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, etc. a veggie burger is usually made of black beans, chickpeas, veggies, etc. so i find it bothersome and thoughtless when restaurants (especially finer dining ones) treat the veggie burger as a hamburger alternative. please take note of how other nice restaurants allow this option to stand alone by treating it like its own meal. add a special sauce that compliments what it is made of instead of mustard and ketchup. take a minute to consider what tastes good. that is all.

never had a bad meal or bad service here. reserve your table because it's very popular. cheaper than capitol grill, more expensive and higher quality than longhorn.

literally everything taste just like nona blue modern tavern down in ponte vedra beach !!! even the plates !!! from the mac and cheese benign in the same bowl !!! the carrot cake is exactly like it minus the drizzle on top , the spinach dip!!! the prime rib and the steak!!! same set up! only difference is nona blue modern tavern is half the price !!!! i will be taking my business meetings there !!

fantastic service at the bar. very friendly with great cocktails. highly recommend the artichoke as appetizer and red fish as meal followed by the worlds best carrot cake!!

i love this place. it's cozy and dim, good for a date. also nice for a girls lunch before a mall trip :). the prime rib french dip sandwich is wonderful, as is their spinach and artichoke dip app. but my favorite item on the menu is the cypress salad. between th sweet croutons, perfect fried chicken, avocado, and pecans, it is just delicious. service is always good too. it is a little on the pricey side. the menu is not huge but has many good choices.

i have not been to j. alexander so when my friend suggested we meet up for a post birthday celebration, i was all in.  this is an upscale spot in the trendy town center shopping center, and has held it own against many of jacksonville best dining spots.  nice interior, dark wood, soft lighting, spacious seating, that creates the feeling of spaciousness.  the bar is equally as comfortable and if you choose your meal can be served there.  weather permitting the outside seating is equally as comfortable.
