my partner's corporate colleagues raved about indigo, and so, late on sunday morning, we made the trek to double bay to see what the fuss was about.
when we arrived at around 10:30am, the place was absolutely packed, and we thought we were going to have to look elsewhere - there was even a queue out the front for people waiting to get in. we joined the queue, which was managed flawlessly, and the gentleman in charge took down our names. what was remarkable is that despite four other groups being in front of us, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. these people clearly knew what they were doing. not only were we seated remarkably quickly, but despite the busyness of the restaurant, we had ordered within 5 minutes of being seated, and our meals arrived less than 10 minutes later.
i'm definitely no expert on the subject, however, the eggs benedict served by indigo was hands down the tastiest variant of the dish i have ever had the pleasure of eating. the hollandaise sauce was buttery and creamy, yet not overpowering, the ham was crispy and salty, and the brioche was toasted perfectly. most importantly, the eggs were runny and silky. apart from the eggs benedict, my partner can attest to the quality of the acai berry granola, and the juice special, containing celery and ginger (amongst other things), was incredibly refreshing.
on the way out, the man managing the queue thanked me by name for my patronage, which was an incredibly nice touch given the churn of people.
overall, indigo's breakfast was absolutely outstanding, and i am definitely going to return to explore more of its menu!
