indigo is a lovely cafe in double bay which spreads across two shops and alfresco area on cross street. touted as one of double bay’s best kept secret, the brunches were creative, refreshing and instagram-worthy. it was no surprise that there was a snaking queue outside the 120-seat cafe last weekend morning.

i dropped by indigo after my church service and was amazed by the lengthy queues. nonetheless, service was prompt and quick. i started with a mango frappe. while the frappe was a perfect tonic in the warm spring money, it could be improved if the shaved ice was finer and not coarse and rough.

the french toast, which is served with lemon curd, almond crumble, honey popcorn, lemon meringue and mascarpone, was mostly delectable. the toast was crispy on the outside and the combination of flavours added substantial texture to the toast. however, the edges of the toast were overdone and hard.

staff were nice over the phone and delivery guy as well, took an hour to get the food delivered as it was a busy time altho they did warn me so it was alright. ordered the palak paneer and chicken tikka masala, plus a garlic naan. i specified my level of spice but the actual chicken meat was tough and tasteless, seemed like coated with just a spicy curry. the garlic naan was a cheap fluff that had minimal taste, resembled a big english muffin. the palak paneer was not bad but nothing special.

this place never fails to deliver quality food , coffee & fresh juice .
one of my favourites hang outs in the eastern suburbs.
staff are friendly , can always get seated if not, it’s a quick turn over , reasonable pricing for quality food & good vibes 👌🏼 parking is metered and usually pretty easy to find

depending on where you want to sit on weekend, waiting time can be little to long. it is a bit pricey but i always find it very consistent, satisfying and delicious food in here, so knowing that it will worth the $$$, indigo is my safe bet!

if you are missing rodeo drive, you are into people watching and standing in queues, and are also hungry for brunch, then indigo, double bay should hit the spot! after waiting for 30 mins, we were then ushered to our table on the traffic isle and nearly got run over by a lamborghini whilst crossing the road! actually, lovely alfresco dining with a buzz you can only get in the bay! pancakes, french toast, poached eggs, fruit salad! all bright and colourful dishes that are worth the wait!

a sun-drenched saturday morning could not have been more lovely than the one i had when i went up indigo. while the french toast is what drew me there the spiced lamb caught my eye and i fell in love with blossoming fragrance and flavor. if you are keen for something a little exciting i'd say go for it and don't like back. the wait staff were over-worked as the place was full to bursting however they looked after the every need of my partner and myself with attentive consideration that is not to be expected in such a popular venue. go there, eat, drink, be merry and most contended.

indigo is a cafe situated in double bay and is known for the great people and car watching views it provides. we came here on a saturday morning to celebrate a friend’s birthday and saw so many porsche cars parked outside (one day…) and pr queen roxy jacenko is said to be a regular of the haunt so were excited to try out one of the best eastern suburb cafes.

had the sweet potato cakes, prawn rigatoni and calamari fritters.

prawn pasta and calamari were delish! great flavor combinations.
sweet potato cakes was a flop though. it was just 2 clumps of sweet potato, 2 poached eggs and some other stuff. it was just kind of flavorless and mushy. not a fan, could only stomach 1/4 of it.

it's always hard when you're visiting somewhere new and you're trying to decide where to eat. we walked past and thought it looked nice and so i cheekily asked some outside diners what the food was like and they said they'd been two nights in a row. we managed to get a table without a booking - it was a sunday night and they were still quite full. i ordered the lasooni prawns (battered and fried) and they were very light and tasty. for my main i had the chicken korma - very tasty though more gravy like than saucy. good service and we were checked on several times by wait staff.

one of the most visited breakfast place in double bay is indigo. the queue especially on sunday can be a long one. i went there with my foodie friends and we waited for at least 30mins :) the cafe is dog friendly and they got outdoor seating as well. my sister recommended the place and so i decided to try it out.

i use to come here most days when we lived in sydney. still the same old place, food ok nothing to rave about, i get rather annoyed when my avocado comes out grey, for me it should glow green and yellow and anything less is inexcusable. my poached eggs were very good runny and warm too. i loved the creamy feta and mascarpone. the porridge was beautiful creamy and the stewed rhubarb a perfect touch. my tea came out in a little japanese pot hot and strong with precisely enough for two cups.the coffee was superb as it always was and the awnings out side are a great addition, especially on this rainy day.
the one thing we loved whilst sitting amongst a bunch of celebrities and multi million dollar cars was the no smoking outside and under the island awnings.a great touch.

my partner's corporate colleagues raved about indigo, and so, late on sunday morning, we made the trek to double bay to see what the fuss was about.

when we arrived at around 10:30am, the place was absolutely packed, and we thought we were going to have to look elsewhere - there was even a queue out the front for people waiting to get in. we joined the queue, which was managed flawlessly, and the gentleman in charge took down our names. what was remarkable is that despite four other groups being in front of us, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. these people clearly knew what they were doing. not only were we seated remarkably quickly, but despite the busyness of the restaurant, we had ordered within 5 minutes of being seated, and our meals arrived less than 10 minutes later.

i'm definitely no expert on the subject, however, the eggs benedict served by indigo was hands down the tastiest variant of the dish i have ever had the pleasure of eating. the hollandaise sauce was buttery and creamy, yet not overpowering, the ham was crispy and salty, and the brioche was toasted perfectly. most importantly, the eggs were runny and silky.  apart from the eggs benedict, my partner can attest to the quality of the acai berry granola, and the juice special, containing celery and ginger (amongst other things), was incredibly refreshing.

on the way out, the man managing the queue thanked me by name for my patronage, which was an incredibly nice touch given the churn of people.

overall, indigo's breakfast was absolutely outstanding, and i am definitely going to return to explore more of its menu!
