il grappolo

great food great location !. we live in the rozelle area and always support our local restaurants by going when we can. we were regulars at grapes which was there before il grappolo so we were keen to see how this newplacewas doing .
we went on a friday night although they only do byo tue -thursday but im happy to pay for drinks if the food is good .
when we got there we noticed theplacewas a bit bright as the lights were on full pelt which kind of lost the smoky setting that grapes had..the tables and chairs were also a little dated looking with no table covers however the staff were extra friendly and made us feel really welcome .
for our order we tried the linguine ai frutti di mare and the spaghetti gamberi with garlic bread which was really good ,the pasta tasted freshly made and the seafood cooked really well and complemented beautifully with the flavours . the prices were a little bit more pricey but again the food was worth it .
overall the food was excellent , things they could change a little are the décor ,lighting and no byo on the weekends. i think they have some tough shoes to fill in grapes but im sure they will do a good job judging by the standard of the food it was delish !!

had 2 pizzas, 1 pasta and two greens.
- eggplant, artichoke and olive pizza
- pumpkin, ricotta and prosciutto pizza
- ragu pappardelle
- broccolini and beans

love the crispiness of the pizza crust and u can tell the freshness. the sauce of the ragu pappardelle was so rich and creamy but not overwhelming.

definitely will come back!

local italianplacewith really good ravioli and pizza was made well with generous toppings. tiramisu was also a winner! would definitely come here again. good heart meal on a rainy day and the service was really attentive.

our drive from caringbah to rozelle for a quite italian dinner couldn’t have been better. when we left the restaurant we were satisfied with every aspect of it. be it food or service, we really enjoyed our time there.

it was a late friday evening dinner and restaurant almost full, however we got a lovelyplaceto sit. we started our evening with a glass of sparkling and a thin crust rosemary pizza bread and then went on to order gnocchi gorgonzola for myself and linguini pesto for my wife. gnocchi was soft and melting in my mouth. i am fan of cheesy white sauce and for me it couldn’t have been cooked better. my wife too liked her pesto and was all praise for it. quantity was too good, i could finish up mine but it was too much for my wife and we had to get it in takeaway boxes.

we signed off with an amazing desert. somehow i can’t recall the name, i have attached a pic of it. it looked and tasted yummy. just enough sweet to kick of the taste buds. it was an ice cream draped with caramel, sugery strip which was crunchy and tasty.

all in all we liked it and definitely recommend it.

ravioli was absolutely delicious.
the zucchini flowers were a close second.
really love this place. so good to have found a local authentic italianplacewith great food and service.

absolutely superb homemade pastas with intense flavours and pizzas cooked just right - ragu, seafood and their special orrichiette pasta of the day were all amazing. veal scalppione with lemon was also very tender, everything was in generous portions, there was nothing to fault at all! also only $1.50pp cakeage and $6 per bottle byo wine. a great value local neighbourhood restaurant with a relaxed casual vibe. greatplacefor a night out with friends!

standard italian fare but done very well with no fuss. greatplacefor family dinners and always have good specials. staff are friendly and helpful, also they open early which helps.

i personally prefer wood-fired oven because it makes pizza more soft. but the ingredients and the taste are excellent. if you like crunchy pizza this is the perfectplacefor you.
the staff is nice and there is a comfortable atmosphere.

first time here after finding the recommendation on zomato. thisplaceis a proper hidden gem! a definite must for anyone who loves italian food! could not recommend enough. we will be returning!

an awesomeplacein rozelle, always busy so don't forget to book if you want to make sure you get a table. they do great pizza and pasta, the pasta del mar is a must try. fantastic service as well, i can't count the number of times i have been there.

amazing. everything about this restaurant is fantastic and sticks to the traditional values of the culinary arts; ingredients over quantity. in sydney there are so many restaurants trying to make it 'big,' but the secret is to retain the techniques of european cultures as thisplaceinjects innovation whilst embodying this. an absolute fan.

a great exuisiteplaceindeed. the only issues i have is price. i believe the price is a little more than it should be for such aplacejust outside of the city. food is tasty and service is ok.

long long time observer; first time reviewer. a foodie who generally has eaten to much to be able to write & ends up fading into the deep realms of a food coma, last night was no exception. when out i would consider what rating i would bestow upon an establishment and how aligned my experience was relative to others. i must say as i write this review the flavors and textures of last night still resonate in my mouth. the (literally) sizzling prawn pot & the simplistic penne i couldn't fault. the burnt butter sage ravioli was great and reminded me of a similar dish i thoroughly enjoyed at pendolino (ravioli di magro con burro fuso). if i was to be ultra critical the filling was slightly gritty but was extremely generous and nonetheless delicious. my picky partner who claims to be an italian goddess due to her obsession with all things pasta couldn't fault anything except the rosemary potatoes which didn't satisfy her "crunch" factor. never mind her they were fluffy and flavorsome. if you like a bit of extra spice ask for the chilli oil & use with caution, a warning for the weak.

the service:
no fault, not in the slightest: orders were taken promptly, plates were cleared on time and replaced without request: attentive without being overbearing. 10/10 cant complain

as i wrap up i'm salivating at the very thought of coming back to this hidden gem, even though i made an oath to never over indulge, less then 24hrs ago. the thought crosses my mind, do i really want the word to get out?.. i feel the urge to delete every word i've written keep it a secret my stomach yells. my brain urges to do the write =] thing.

il grappolo is a light and airy restaurant tucked away in a quiet part of rozelle. it's a relaxedplace- somewhere close to the cbd but quiet and secluded enough to allow the hustle and bustle of the day to disappear. in true italian style it has a lovely indoor/outdoor feel to it - with a verandah at the front for al fresco dining that opens completely into the main restaurant area.

thisplaceis truly amazing when it comes to decor and ambience it's just beautiful with tea lights and little flowers on the tables. i went there with a group of friends and the service was good. staff were friendly and attentive. we decided to just order pizzas and pasta. i would never order a pasta there again. it was either to bland or too salty like the ragu came from a can. i was so disappointed with the pasta. on the brighter side the pizzas were so good and i will be going back for them. i saw main dishes of fish and lamb i think and the presentation was spot on!! worth giving thisplacea try!!
