#15 stop in our texas monthly 50 bbq challenge.
ordered two baked potatoes w/ meat - one each in ham and brisket versions. also ordered jalapeno beans and a thing called a texas twinkie. they have free self-serve bananna pudding, peach cobbler, and soft-serve ice cream when dining in.
they have a rather nice condiments bar that has the tastiest smoked bacon bits you will ever run across. i am pretty sure they produce their own.
the baked potatoes were pretty good sized. they cut off a couple slices of ham, chopped it, and mounded it on top. it was a bunch of meat adding about $5.00 to the price so the total was $8.99. the brisket model was done the same way.
the jalapeno beans were quite tasty with enough seasoning to make you notice that these didn't come from some plastic pouch warmed in hot water.
the texas twinkie is a good sized jalapeno, seeded with the membrane removed, loaded with cream cheese and smoked brisket, wrapped up in bacon, rubbed with a sweet rub, and smoked. it ends up appearing like it is wrapped in candied bacon. all the flavors meld to produce a fantastic creation.
the free bananna pudding and peachcobblerwas much better than what we paid for it (grin). in fact it was good enough you might want to order some to take home. not a bad perk for dining in.
