d had the opportunity to visit hung’s garden  (1565 regent ave. w.) a multi generation ownedrestaurantover a decade ago, at its former location.  even though the physical location of therestauranthas changed, he remembered that the food was delectable and that had not altered.  the place was bustling with hungry fans after an afternoon jets game.  we were fortunate to get one of the last empty tables.  there was a large group assembling in the corner for a birthday party.  therestaurantis beautifully appointed and would be fitting for a casual dinner or a celebration of this kind.   the menu includes an extensive offering of szechwan dishes and we saw a number of sizzling platters being delivered to surrounding tables. we opted to share a huge bowl of deluxe wonton soup.  we thought that the broth needed to be punched up by a couple of shakes of soya sauce but the vegetables were al dente and delicious.  the shrimp were plump and the barbeque pork was tender, but the best part wa

cold rice. we had in the past went to hung's and enjoyed the food and today went for supper for our anniversary. well the rice was cold and the chicken balls had way too much batter and very little chicken. we were hungry so started eating our supper even with the cold fried rice and my husbands vegetables were cold. finally when the waitress came to ask how everything was we advised her the rice was cold and all she could offer was to warm it up for us. if we wanted microwave heated food we would have stayed home. she said to us "you should have told me the rice was cold right away" guess she expected us to chase her around therestaurantto find her to tell her with our plate of food. she could of at least offered to bring us a hot bowl of rice but nothing nor did they offer a little discount. we won't be frequenting here again nor would we recommend the place. we always went to thisrestauranteven when they were located by the louise bridge and have always had nice hot food. maybe different owners and cooks now. they lost our business.

disappointing. the "mushroom chop suey" was made with canned sliced mushrooms ... slimy and rubbery texture. when i pointed this out to the server she argued that they were fresh mushrooms! then she came back and said "yes, the cook said they were canned". it was a bad dish anyway and the canned mushrooms added to the disappointment. the breaded chicken balls were all batter and no flavour and the ginger beef was passable but too sweet. have enjoyed thisrestaurantin the past, but will not go back again.

very good restaurant.. a friend bought a gift certificate for this place, and since then, no other chinese foodrestaurantcompares to this one. the quality, the taste, the size of their shrimp!!!! (not the itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny ones either).
i would have to say everything we had was delicious that we tried. the only negative food item that i would consider not that great was the chop suey (just seemed not right). must tries: shrimp egg foo yong (big a$$ shrimp), birds nest, shanghai noodles....our most favourite ordered items. two enthusiastic thumbs up guys!!!

pass on buffet!. i went for the lunch buffet as i was in the area. therestaurantis very nice inside. the soup was just plain consomme. the buffet`s vegetables tasted fishy so i never ate mine. the battered chickenballs had too much batter. the fried rice was very plain. the breaded chicken wings were okay but tasted like they were done a couple of days ago. i may go back to order off the menu to give it a fair try but i would pass on the buffet. no msg. i had to ask the waiter for more water.

first and only experience. until yesterday, the worst experience i ever had at a chineserestaurantwas still better than what my group was exposed to at hung's.
the sauces were "strong" in taste, the food was served barely lukewarm, the breaded veal was too tough to cut with a regular table knife and when it was exposed the "meat" was barely visible being covered with too much breading. "where's the beef?" could have well been applied to the ginger beef as it was served..turkey gravy on a foo yong?, get serious!!
we came because we wanted a feed of harvest snow.that dish was passable but we should have stopped there.

wow!!. i am sort of sketchy about "chinese" restaurants. i enjoy alot of different asian foods, and it seems there are alot of chinese places that have cheap poorly created dishes, as in no better than the food court. this place tho!!! amazing!!! absolutely fantastic eats!!!! and that was takeout. i cant wait to try sitting down for a meal there. therestaurantlooks very nice inside. the ginger beef was glorious. deluxe fried rice mmmm!! the shrimp in the vegetables were a little soggy by the time we got home. but all in all....i will be back here again!!

best chinese in the city!. i have been going to hung's since i was still in my mom's stomach. over the years hung's top-notch menu has delighted my family and friends alike. the service is incredibly friendly and helpful. everything on the menu is fabulous so i will list the dishes i most regularly order.

- harvest snow (very flavorful appetizer)
- spring roll (better than the typical spring roll, carroty)
- beef chop suey with dry noodles (best chop suey i've ever had)
- chicken chow mein
- hot pepper shrimp
- kung pao chicken
- soo gai almond chicken (my favorite chicken)
- koo lo chicken
- deep fried fish with peking sweet & sour sauce
- chicken egg foo yong
- hung's garden special bird nest (not the greatest food but very cool)
- four seasons
- diced chicken almond with vegetables
- ginger beef (classic)
- hung's garden special beef
- dry breaded ribs (good for picky eaters)
- steamed rice (i believe if you order two or more dishes you get the rice)
- consomme (same as above, best consomme i've ever tasted)

for dessert get the fried banana with ice cream. one word describes it: heavenly.

the lunch buffet consists of simpler classics for a wide range of appeal.

i can boast that i have been to every chineserestaurantin winnipeg, and personally hung's is my favorite of them all. so give it a try! you won't be dissapointed.
