hung's garden chinese food restaurant

d had the opportunity to visit hung’s garden  (1565 regent ave. w.) a multi generation owned restaurant over a decade ago, at its former location.  even though the physical location of the restaurant has changed, he remembered that thefoodwas delectable and that had not altered.  the place was bustling with hungry fans after an afternoon jets game.  we were fortunate to get one of the last empty tables.  there was a large group assembling in the corner for a birthday party.  the restaurant is beautifully appointed and would be fitting for a casual dinner or a celebration of this kind.   the menu includes an extensive offering of szechwan dishes and we saw a number of sizzling platters being delivered to surrounding tables. we opted to share a huge bowl of deluxe wonton soup.  we thought that the broth needed to be punched up by a couple of shakes of soya sauce but the vegetables were al dente and delicious.  the shrimp were plump and the barbeque pork was tender, but the best part wa

cold rice. we had in the past went to hung's and enjoyed thefoodand today went for supper for our anniversary. well the rice was cold and the chicken balls had way too much batter and very little chicken. we were hungry so started eating our supper even with the cold fried rice and my husbands vegetables were cold. finally when the waitress came to ask how everything was we advised her the rice was cold and all she could offer was to warm it up for us. if we wanted microwave heatedfoodwe would have stayed home. she said to us "you should have told me the rice was cold right away" guess she expected us to chase her around the restaurant to find her to tell her with our plate of food. she could of at least offered to bring us a hot bowl of rice but nothing nor did they offer a little discount. we won't be frequenting here again nor would we recommend the place. we always went to this restaurant even when they were located by the louise bridge and have always had nice hot food. maybe different owners and cooks now. they lost our business.

our "go to" for chinesefoodin the area simply because theirfoodquality is consistently excellent! i crave their kung pao on a regular basis. their veggies are always colourful, fresh and crunchy. would have given a higher rating if it wasn't for their prices which are higher than comparable restaurants in the area.

what kind of chinese place charges for fortune cookies????. we have ordered from here twice and both times thefoodhas been good. it's a little expensive in my opinion but we may be typical of chinese places in the city. the thing that bugs me is that they don't include fortune cookies with your order. we spent $70 and ordered 6 dishes and they can't even include fortune cookies?? we likely will order elsewhere next time.

cost is disappointing. thefooditself tastes good, but the portions are quite small for the amount you pay.

tried take out for first time;foodwas tasty however portion sizes far too small for the price. barely any meat in dishes! $12.00 for 1 breast of chicken? 5 dishes ordered and difficult to feed 4. would not likely order again due to portions. friendly staff, clean environment.

when i was living in the transcona area, my husband and i noticed hung's garden chinesefoodrestaurant. we are always trying out different restaurant's around the city and after our first visit at hung's, i was totally impressed with their food! the service was good too! i miss eating at hung's and ordering from hung's. i just fell for their food, absolutely love it and would recommend it!

ordered delivery this afternoon. order took an hour and 10 mins and was told 45.foodwas cold and mediocre. had better in store experience but its definitely overrated on here. overall wouldn't recommend to friends or family.

not really. the family service seemed nice, but thefoodwas about as pedestrian as chinese in north america gets. i could have eaten as well out of a frozen package from the grocery store for 1/8 the price.

wondeful experience. the service was very good, warm utensils, polite server.

thefoodwas awesome. love the deluxe fried rice and chow mein. the buttered chicken is not the same as i would like it. it's like chicken strips in batter.

very good restaurant.. a friend bought a gift certificate for this place, and since then, no other chinesefoodrestaurant compares to this one. the quality, the taste, the size of their shrimp!!!! (not the itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny ones either).
i would have to say everything we had was delicious that we tried. the only negativefooditem that i would consider not that great was the chop suey (just seemed not right). must tries: shrimp egg foo yong (big a$$ shrimp), birds nest, shanghai noodles....our most favourite ordered items. two enthusiastic thumbs up guys!!!

first and only experience. until yesterday, the worst experience i ever had at a chinese restaurant was still better than what my group was exposed to at hung's.
the sauces were "strong" in taste, thefoodwas served barely lukewarm, the breaded veal was too tough to cut with a regular table knife and when it was exposed the "meat" was barely visible being covered with too much breading. "where's the beef?" could have well been applied to the ginger beef as it was served..turkey gravy on a foo yong?, get serious!!
we came because we wanted a feed of harvest snow.that dish was passable but we should have stopped there.

best chinesefoodi've had. i've only tried takeout but have never been disappointed. the curry beef and chicken with almond are two dishes that i always order. the curry sauce is so flavorful that i ladle it onto my rice. the delivery is quick and thefoodalways arrives hot. highly recommended.

wow!!. i am sort of sketchy about "chinese" restaurants. i enjoy alot of different asian foods, and it seems there are alot of chinese places that have cheap poorly created dishes, as in no better than thefoodcourt. this place tho!!! amazing!!! absolutely fantastic eats!!!! and that was takeout. i cant wait to try sitting down for a meal there. the restaurant looks very nice inside. the ginger beef was glorious. deluxe fried rice mmmm!! the shrimp in the vegetables were a little soggy by the time we got home. but all in all....i will be back here again!!
