hung's garden chinese food restaurant

cold rice. we had in the past went to hung's and enjoyed the food and today went for supper for our anniversary. well the rice was cold and thechickenballs had way too much batter and very little chicken. we were hungry so started eating our supper even with the cold fried rice and my husbands vegetables were cold. finally when the waitress came to ask how everything was we advised her the rice was cold and all she could offer was to warm it up for us. if we wanted microwave heated food we would have stayed home. she said to us "you should have told me the rice was cold right away" guess she expected us to chase her around the restaurant to find her to tell her with our plate of food. she could of at least offered to bring us a hot bowl of rice but nothing nor did they offer a little discount. we won't be frequenting here again nor would we recommend the place. we always went to this restaurant even when they were located by the louise bridge and have always had nice hot food. maybe different owners and cooks now. they lost our business.

worst chinese food. our work facility ordered from hungs for a 100 days of safety, and by far this was the worst chinese meal everyone
had tasted. thechickenballs had no meat and tasted tough, like made the day previously, the beef dish
was also discusting, no flavour, noodles also. the employees were very disappointed. also there was so much
rice???

decent food. delivery service was good today, friendly and helpful person on the phone and friendly delivery person. delivered within the hour as promised. the beef in oyster sauce was 3/4 onions and 1/4 beef. although the beef was tender, we won't order this again -- expensive for an onion dish, and we don't eat onions! the shanghai noodle dish surprisingly containedchickenand good-sized shrimp, even though the person on the phone said it contained cabbage only. this dish was a winner. delivery is free but a minimum $37 order before taxes must be placed.

disappointing. the "mushroom chop suey" was made with canned sliced mushrooms ... slimy and rubbery texture. when i pointed this out to the server she argued that they were fresh mushrooms! then she came back and said "yes, the cook said they were canned". it was a bad dish anyway and the canned mushrooms added to the disappointment. the breadedchickenballs were all batter and no flavour and the ginger beef was passable but too sweet. have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but will not go back again.

wondeful experience. the service was very good, warm utensils, polite server.

the food was awesome. love the deluxe fried rice and chow mein. the butteredchickenis not the same as i would like it. it's likechickenstrips in batter.

overall i recommend this place.

pass on buffet!. i went for the lunch buffet as i was in the area. the restaurant is very nice inside. the soup was just plain consomme. the buffet`s vegetables tasted fishy so i never ate mine. the battered chickenballs had too much batter. the fried rice was very plain. the breadedchickenwings were okay but tasted like they were done a couple of days ago. i may go back to order off the menu to give it a fair try but i would pass on the buffet. no msg. i had to ask the waiter for more water.

over rated and over priced. i just had several items from this place which was my first time here and wow everything was tasteless. i had thechickenballs, butter chicken, fried rice, vegetables. it all tasted like air. also the prices are about 15% higher for the same items at your other average chinese places. i will never eat here again.

best chinese food i've had. i've only tried takeout but have never been disappointed. the curry beef andchickenwith almond are two dishes that i always order. the curry sauce is so flavorful that i ladle it onto my rice. the delivery is quick and the food always arrives hot. highly recommended.

best chinese in the city!. i have been going to hung's since i was still in my mom's stomach. over the years hung's top-notch menu has delighted my family and friends alike. the service is incredibly friendly and helpful. everything on the menu is fabulous so i will list the dishes i most regularly order.

- harvest snow (very flavorful appetizer)
- spring roll (better than the typical spring roll, carroty)
- beef chop suey with dry noodles (best chop suey i've ever had)

- soo gai almondchicken(my favorite chicken)
- koo lo chicken
- deep fried fish with peking sweet & sour sauce

- hung's garden special bird nest (not the greatest food but very cool)

- dicedchickenalmond with vegetables
- ginger beef (classic)
- hung's garden special beef
- dry breaded ribs (good for picky eaters)
- steamed rice (i believe if you order two or more dishes you get the rice)
- consomme (same as above, best consomme i've ever tasted)

for dessert get the fried banana with ice cream. one word describes it: heavenly.

the lunch buffet consists of simpler classics for a wide range of appeal.

i can boast that i have been to every chinese restaurant in winnipeg, and personally hung's is my favorite of them all. so give it a try! you won't be dissapointed.

excellent chinese food. this place is clearly one of the better options for chinese food in winnipeg.

at lunch they feature a decent buffet for a reasonable price. the buffet isn't huge, but it features some of the more familiar dishes to choose from.

the dinner menu has some very solid choices like harvest snow which is a mixture of chicken, ginger sauce, shallots, mushrooms and crispy noodles wrapped in a lettuce leaf. they also serve good versions of ginger beef and lemonchickenas well as butter chicken. it isn't the kind you get at a curry house, this stuff is battered and cooked in a lot of butter. very tasty.

prices are reasonable, service is adequate and they usually aren't as busy for dinner as they are for lunch.
